Using Hook Locks to Secure the Contents of Your Van
Hook locks are an excellent option to improve the security of your van. They are simple to install and work independently of your van's primary locking system.
Gunnebo Industries, now Crosby has developed the self-locking swivelhook to enhance safety at construction sites. These hooks snap shut when under load and prevent falling or grabbing onto overhead lines.
Loop Wire Hook Locks
These locking hooks with mechanical locks are designed to lock down products and accessories. They work with loop wire hooks, which prevent theft. These locks are designed to work with HandiWALL or other pegboards that are compatible. They automatically lock the merchandise in place and can also be released manually by pressing down on the spring-loaded lock. They are a budget-friendly alternative to magnetic hooks. They can also be easily moved without the need for tools.
A hook and loop fastener (commonly known as Velcro) is made up of two parts. The "hook" side is made up of tiny, stiff hooks and the "loops" side is made up loops that are soft, fuzzy. When the components are put together, they create a strong but removable bond. These fasteners are used in a variety of industries, including automotive, electronics, and others.
George de Mestral invented the first hook-and-loop device in 1941. While on a hunt in the Alps He observed burrs of burdock which stuck to his clothing and animal fur, and he realized that they were brimming with tiny hooks that were caught by loops on fabric and other surfaces. De Mestral was inspired by this and came up with the idea of making an adhesive that was made of hooks and loops that would tie materials in a reversible way. The material he selected was nylon. After a number of tests and figuring out a way to make production more efficient his product entered commercial production under the VELCRO brand name.
These hooks are easy to install since they automatically latch when the load is in tension. This feature helps prevent accidental releases and provides an additional layer of security for lifting. These wire hooks that lock can be connected to chain grade 10 by using connecting links or to webbing via web-sling connectors. They can also connect to other hardware, like pins. These hooks can be secured with a selection of pressure-sensitive adhesives that will meet your application needs. They are available in different sizes to accommodate various types of cables or chains.
Magnetic Hook Locks
Magnetic hook locks have an elongated base that looks like a disc and features an integrated magnet. The magnet adheres to ferrous materials, such as metal. Once the base has been fixed to the hook, you can't remove it unless you remove magnetic key's cap. Then apply the magnetic force to the top of lock body (where the label says "6 mm") Magnetic hook locks are best used for slatwall, pegboard & gridwall hooks with a greater diameter. They can slip off of hooks with smaller diameters. The lock is powered by DC power and comes with two or more coils, that generate the magnetic force to cling to the hook and keep it locked.
Magnetic door locks are called maglocks and are a popular option for security in commercial and industrial areas. When energized by electromagnetic force, they lock the door by drawing an electromagnet towards an armature plate affixed to the frame. The strength of the magnetic force varies depending on the size of the lock and the voltage.
Commercial magnetic locks are "fail-safe", and will open if power goes out, allowing users to escape in the event of a crisis or interruption of the electrical supply. They are also commonly used on doors that lead to areas with hazardous or sensitive materials in order to ensure that no one is able to gain access with no credentials.
Electric strike door locks however, are typically installed in conjunction with an access control system. They allow or limit access based on the requirements for identity, credentials and schedules. They can be opened using a number of methods that include proximity readers fobs, cards, fobs and keypad PINs. Before deciding on the ideal locking mechanism for your business it is essential to analyze each type. This guide will go over the benefits and drawbacks of both types and help you weigh the advantages and disadvantages so that you can make an informed choice that is suitable for your needs.
Hook Locks in Stainless Steel
These hook locks are finished in Stainless Steel, which is durable and resistant to corrosion. They are an essential part of the Crosby Group's line of self-closing hooks to enhance safety on construction sites. Also called an latch hook or safety hook, they close whenever there is loads on them, which helps prevent accidents among workers.
These rigging hooks are more durable than spring latches used on traditional sling hooks. Equipment in the construction industry is subject to a lot of wear and tear. This can cause damage to the spring latches or, more seriously they could cause them to break off the hook. If this occurs the hook needs to be removed from use until a replacement that is compliant is available. This is not likely to happen with a forged hook latch that is an integral part.
Both the Crosby Shur-Loc and Gunnebo Industries hooks have a recessed trigger that eliminates the risk of putting your thumb while opening the latch. This is a common issue with low quality hooks. The Gunnebo Industries hook also has a latch rotation stop that stops the latch from turning down onto your thumb when you're opening it.
Another benefit of the Stainless Steel hook lock is that it can be key locked for additional security. This feature is helpful in situations where a lock must be kept out of reach. For instance, in a tool/service area on the ute tray. They can be fitted to metal, wood or masonry doors and install easily in standard holes. They are constructed out of Grade 304 Stainless steel and feature a square forend. They also have an latch, strike plate, and follower. Forend and strike plates can be cut to size for the perfect fit. The latches can be ordered with or without a key cylinder.
Brass Hook Locks
Brass hook locks are a great way to secure your van's contents. It will stop thieves from benting the door to gain access to your goods. It can also be utilized to add an extra layer of security to your vehicle to stop thieves from gaining entry through force.
Door hook locks made of brass come in a variety of timeless finishes that complement the architectural style and decor of your home. They can be hung on French doors, cupboards and even outdoor spaces such as sheds and garden gates. They are a great option for keeping doors and gates open or closed, and they can be locked with a key or padlock to protect your valuables.
They function in a similar way to pin cylinders. A central core or plug has to be turned to unlock the locking mechanism. hook lock for sliding door cannot be turned by series pins that block it. They are divided into two pairs with the top pair being driver pins, and the lower pair being the key pins. When the correct key is inserted, the split between these pins runs along the line where the plug connects to the lock's housing (called the shear line) and permits it to turn.
To select a brass hook lock, you have to apply pressure or torque to the plug while lifting and setting each pin one after the other in a precise order or in a specific order. When all the pins are lifted, they form a ledge between the housing and the plug which can be cut with the shear tool or lever lock pick. When the shearline has been created you will be able to remove the key from the lock and unlock it.
