The Motiva Ergonomix™ Round SilkSurface (Establishment Labs Holdings Inc., Alajuela, Costa Rica) is the fifth generation of a silicone gel-filled breast implant that is commercially available in Korea.
In this study, we describe 4-year interim results of the safety of augmentation mammaplasty using the Motiva Ergonomix™ Round SilkSurface in Korean women.
In the current multicenter, retrospective study, we performed a retrospective review of medical records of a total of 1314 patients who received augmentation mammaplasty using the Motiva Ergonomix™ Round SilkSurface at our hospitals between September 1, 2016, and August 31, 2020. For safety assessment, we analyzed incidences of postoperative complications and Kaplan-Meier complication-free survival of the patients.
We included a total of 873 patients (1746 breasts, mean age = 32.18 ± 6.88 years) in the current study. There were a total of 111 cases (12.70%) of postoperative complications; these include 24 cases (2.70%) of early seroma, 18 cases (2.10% ratings, please refer to Table of Contents or the online Instructions to Authors www.springer.com/00266 .
Derotation of the nasal tip with narrow nasolabial angle is a common nasal deformity that leads to a long nose appearance, named drooping nose. In these patients, there are various techniques described to fix droopy tip and to achieve a desirable nasal tip rotation such as caudal septal extension graft, extended columellar strut graft, tongue in groove, columellar strut graft, and tip rotation sutures. This study aimed to evaluate changes in nasal tip support after modified tongue-in-groove technique (auto-septal projection graft).
Forty-two patients who underwent a primary open approach septorhinoplasty using the modified tongue-in-groove technique between June 2017 and March 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Postoperative and preoperative photographs were analyzed, and nasolabial angle and the nasal tip projection ratio were recorded and compared before and average of 17.3 months after the surgery.
Forty-two patients (33 female and 9 male) were included the study. The mean nasolabial angle was 85.7° preoperatively and 99.3° postoperatively. The nasal tip projection ratio was 0.60 preoperatively and 0.64 postoperatively. Both the tip rotation and the tip projection increased significantly after the modified tongue in groove (p<0.05).
It seems that modified tongue-in-groove method (auto-septal projection graft) is an effective technique in maintaining tip projection and rotation in rhinoplasty and safe method to correct droopy nasal tip in selected cases.

A new vaginal atrophy treatment is injection of materials into the vaginal wall, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP), autogenous fat graft (AFG), hyaluronic acid (HA), botulinum toxin (BTX), and collagen, but to date their efficacy has not been reviewed. Vaginal wall injection is available only for mild cases of vaginal atrophy or as an adjunct to vaginal surgery. PRP is used mainly to restore vaginal function, and multiple injections are needed to achieve good results in vaginal atrophy. HA, AFG, and collagen are used mainly to augment the vaginal wall. BTX injection can inhibit vaginal muscle spasm and reduce pain during sexual intercourse in patients with vaginismus. click here Injection of most of these materials into vaginal wall is effective and relatively safe. Vascular embolisms are the most serious complication of vaginal injection and should be prevented. The lips are part of the lower third of the face and are central to lower face aesthetics and the overall symmetry of the face. They also place an important part in conveying facial emotions and expressions. Full lips with well-defined Cupid's bow have always been associated with youth and beauty. The approval of hyaluronic acid use for tissue augmentation and the prevalence of social media have caused an exponential increase in lip augmentation procedures (Linkov et al. in Arch Plast Surg 46(3)248-254, 2019), as such researchers and aestheticians have focused on characterising the ideal lips mathematically to help guide clinicians. This narrative review will summarise the available evidence in the literature pertaining to the ideal lips, taking into account age, ethnicity and gender differences. Women with macromastia experienced constitutional and psychosocial symptoms which could be improved by vertical scar or Inverted-T scar reduction mammaplasty. The authors conducted the first systematic review and meta-analysis in an attempt to declare the differences of the vertical scar versus the Inverted-T scar reduction technique by comparing the postoperative complications and aesthetic effects.
PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Scopus and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials databases for clinical studies were searched through June 30, 2019. Cumulative analysis was conducted using the Review Manager Version 5.3 software. The summary odds ratio (OR) was estimated using random effect models at 95% confidence intervals (CIs), statistical heterogeneity was tested using the Chi-square test and risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane Handbook 5.1.0 and the Newcastle-Ottawa scale (NOS).
Two randomized controlled trials (RCT) and nine observational comparative studies were included. The vertical scar method was significantly lower than the Inverted-T scar method in overall incidence of complications (OR 2.06; 95%CI, 1.15 to 3.70; P 0.002) and wound dehiscence (OR 4.62; 95%CI, 2.33 to 9.16; P<0.00001). No significant differences in seroma, hematoma, nipple necrosis, fat necrosis and reoperation were noted.
Both two breast reduction techniques are equally safe, while the vertical scar approach resulted in a statistically lower rate of overall complications and wound dehiscence.

In this study, we investigated the effect of apocynin on fat graft survival in a rat model.
Twenty-one Wistar albino male rats were included in the study. The grafts taken from the inguinal area were applied to the nape of each rat. The rats were randomly divided into three groups. Apocynin+DMSO, DMSO and saline were administered intraperitoneally once daily for 14days. After 90days, the animals were sacrificed and the grafts were excised. The weights and volumes were measured and sent for histopathological evaluation. The weight, volume, survival rates of the grafts, the number of viable cells with the MTT test and pathological parameters, inflammation, vascularization, fibrosis, lipogranuloma and cyst formation, were evaluated.
Statistically significant differences were found between the groups in survival rates (p<0.05). The type, size, and number of impellers used in these systems have a significant influence on the characteristics and designs of bioreactors. Depending on the desired application, classic shaft-driven systems, bearing-mounted drives, or stirring elements that levitate freely in the vessel may be employed. In systems with drive shafts, process hygiene requirements also affect the type of seal used. For sensitive processes with high hygienic requirements, magnetic-driven stirring systems, which have been the focus of much research in recent years, are recommended. This review provides the reader with an overview of the most common agitation and seal types implemented in stirred bioreactor systems, highlights their advantages and disadvantages, and explains their possible fields of application. Despite that Saccharomyces cerevisiae has the ability to naturally synthesize 2-PE via the Ehrlich pathway, de novo synthesis of 2-PE in high titer still remains a huge challenge. In this study, a non-native styrene degradation pathway was introduced into S. cerevisiae, which represents the first time to demonstrate the functional expression of "styrene-derived" 2-PE synthesis in yeast. Using a host strain engineered with L-phenylalanine (L-Phe) overproduction, the heterologous 2-PE pathway coupled with endogenous Ehrlich pathway produced 233 mg/L 2-PE under shake flasks. Additionally, we further engineered the permease transporters to improve the intracellular L-Phe availability, and further improved the 2-PE titer to 680 mg/L. Taken together, our work represents one of the pioneering reports to explore "styrene-derived" pathway in S. cerevisiae. The synthetic yeast described here might be used as a platform for the future development of next-generation high-yielding 2-PE yeast strains.
