CD44+ /CD24-/low MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cells were screened and transfected with altered expression of LINC00261 or miR-550a-3p to explore their roles in cell viability, microsphere (MS) formation ability, migration and invasion of CD44+ /CD24-/low BCSCs. The targeting relationships of LINC00261, miR-550a-3p and SDPR were detected. Reduced LINC00261, decreased SDPR and elevated miR-550a-3p exhibited in BC tissues of patients and cell lines. Elevated CD44+/ CD24- were present in BC tissues. LINC00261 up-regulated SDPR expression as a sponge of miR-550a-3p. Elevated LINC00261 suppressed BC cell viability, MS formation ability, migration and invasion of CD44+ /CD24-/low BCSCs. Moreover, up-regulated miR-550a-3p reversed the inhibitive effect of elevated LINC00261 on BCSCs, and reduced SDPR reversed the promotive effect of decreased miR-550a-3p on BCSCs. The study highlights that LINC00261 can adsorb miR-550a-3p to modulate SDPR, thus inhibiting the viability and MS formation of BC cells, reducing migration and invasion of CD44+ /CD24-/low BCSCs, exerting a potential effect on therapy.
Gastric motility disorders, which include both functional and organic etiologies, are highly prevalent. However, there remains a critical lack of objective biomarkers to guide efficient diagnostics and personalized therapies. Bioelectrical activity plays a fundamental role in coordinating gastric function and has been investigated as a contributing mechanism to gastric dysmotility and sensory dysfunction for a century. However, conventional electrogastrography (EGG) has not achieved common clinical adoption due to its perceived limited diagnostic capability and inability to impact clinical care. The last decade has seen the emergence of novel high-resolution methods for invasively mapping human gastric electrical activity in health and disease, providing important new insights into gastric physiology. The limitations of EGG have also now become clearer, including the finding that slow-wave frequency alone is not a reliable discriminator of gastric dysrhythmia, shifting focus instead toward altered spatial purther technological progress and validation data are now awaited to determine whether these advances will deliver on the promise of clinical gastric electrophysiology diagnostics.
We sought to determine whether American Indian tribe-based interventions that successfully prevented toddler dental caries in a 2005 cohort study (the Toddler Overweight and Tooth Decay Prevention Study, or TOTS) influenced the prevalence of dental caries in children ages 11 to 13 in the same communities ten years later (the TOTS-to-Tweens study).

We present a critical review of the papers published in the international scientific literature on malignant transformation of oral lichen planus (OLP). Our aim is to report the most realistic estimate of the proportion of OLP cases with malignant transformation based on the highest quality of evidence.

Following a literature search, we selected 89 papers that were published on this topic until November 2020. We applied to these papers an adaptation of the methodological quality criteria of the QUIPS tool and we ordered all of them according to their methodological quality. The papers that were in the upper quartile of methodological quality (10 papers) were selected and analyzed.

A case-control study was performed to define clinical and genetic risk factors associated with osteonecrosis of the jaw in patients with metastatic cancer treated with bisphosphonates.

Clinical data and tissues were collected from patients treated with bisphosphonates for metastatic bone disease who were diagnosed with osteonecrosis of the jaw (cases) and matched controls. Clinical data included patient, behavioral, disease, and treatment information. Genetic polymorphisms in CYP2C8 (rs1934951) and other candidate genes were genotyped. Odds ratios from conditional logistic regression models were examined to identify clinical and genetic characteristics associated with case or control status.

Heel sticks account for most blood tests performed in neonates without analgesia because topical local anesthetics are ineffective on heel glabrous skin. We investigated the antinociceptive effect of an alternative topical analgesic, a vapocoolant spray, on hind paw glabrous skin of rat pups. The spray was applied by two methods method 1 for 4s at a distance of 8cm and method 2 for 10s at a distance of 18cm.

The rat pups were randomized to either method 1 (n=32) or method 2 (n=31). Vapocoolant spray was applied to one hind paw randomly, and saline spray was applied to the contralateral paw. The paws were exposed to a hotplate test to measure withdrawal latency time before and 30s after the spray applications. Additionally, rat pups were tested for tissue toxicity in method 1 (n=20) and method 2 (n=20) after application of the vapocoolant spray before heel sticks three times a day for two consecutive days. Analyses of spray and method effects on hotplate withdrawal latency time were determined by nonparametric Wilcoxon tests to assess paired difference between vapocoolant spray and saline spray and to compare difference in medians between the two methods.

Method 1 and method 2 vapocoolant spray applications significantly prolonged the withdrawal latency time compared with saline, a median difference of 0.6s (IQR 0.1-1.2) for method 1 and 9.5s (IQR 5.5-10.7) for method 2 (a 15-fold longer latency time with method 2). Method-2 produced significantly longer withdrawal latency time than method 1 with a difference in median time of 8.9s (CI 95% 7.3-10.4s, P<.0001). No histopathological changes were detected.

Evidence-based practice (EBP) can improve health care in underprivileged countries. link3 Bolivia's EBP movement is nascent and the factors contributing to better implementation in nursing are unknown.

To explore Bolivian nurses' readiness to engage in EBP while highlighting the facilitators and barriers for pursuing EBP.

The study used a sequential explanatory mixed methods study. First, general trends were disclosed via a survey of 170 nurses in La Paz, Bolivia, holding at least a baccalaureate regarding their perceived beliefs about EBP. The survey identified facilitators and barriers for implementing EBP in acute and ambulatory settings. Second, qualitative data was gathered via a focus group of nine nurses with the purpose of enhancing the survey results.

The survey results showed that nurses believe that engaging in EBP can improve their clinical practice. However, the nurses' research behaviors were found to be infrequent. Lack of support from the nurses' clinics and hospitals and from non-nursing professionals were identified as barriers for engaging in EBP.
