In the second part, we present the methods available for nanocrystal solutions processing together with the most remarkable applications foreseen. The development of new functional nanomaterials builds on an understanding of the intricate relation between material structure and properties. Only by knowing the atomic arrangement can the mechanisms responsible for material properties be elucidated and new materials and technologies developed. Nanomaterials challenge the crystallographic techniques often used for structure characterization, and the structure of many nanomaterials are therefore often assumed to be 'cut-outs' of the corresponding bulk material. Here, I will discuss how Pair Distribution Function (PDF) analysis of total scattering data can aid nanochemists in obtaining a structural understanding of nanoscale materials, focusing on examples from metal oxide chemistry.Emerging from a year-long crisis offers us a fresh stimulus to reflect on the pharmacy profession and the challenges that lie ahead. Industry observers have long noted the limited value of the dispensing function, and some have predicted that it will ultimately succumb to automation. Pharmacists have been jealous guardians of the professional role of pharmacists in overseeing the dispensing of prescription drugs, but the economics may eventually dictate that the process can safely be turned over to machines.
To assess the impact of pharmacist-led transitions of care program on 30-day readmission rates in the accountable care organization (ACO) primary care setting.
Retrospective cohort study.
Two primary care provider (PCP) offices with an ACO in South Florida.
Adult Medicare patients who completed a post-discharge follow-up visit at two primary care offices within an ACO from July to December 2017.
To supplement postdischarge visits with a PCP, the pharmacy services were also provided two days per week with a PCP. selleck chemicals llc The comparator groups were patients who only saw a PCP or those who saw a PCP and pharmacist.
The primary outcome was hospital readmission or emergency department visit within 30 days.
A total of 190 subjects were included. There were 113 patients in the PCP group and 77 patients in the PCP/pharmacist group. There was a reduction in the primary outcome when comparing the PCP-only versus PCP/pharmacist groups (6.2% versus 3.9%; P = 0.74).
Involving pharmacists in patient transitions of care in the primary care setting may be beneficial as previous studies have demonstrated. Further studies evaluating pharmacy services in emerging health care models are needed in order to most effectively utilize the expertise of the pharmacy team.

To report a case of chronic anticholinergic toxicity in a referred, pharmacogenomics (PGx), polypharmacy patient.
The patient is a 67-year-old male who was referred to the polypharmacy service for a PGx consult. This patient has had episodic fever of unknown origin, general cutaneous vasodilation, tremors, jerks, and brain fogginess which have been unexplained. He has seen specialists from infectious disease, rheumatology, endocrinology, and neurology with no contributory condition causing these symptoms, so he was referred for PGx testing and evaluation by the polypharmacy pharmacist.
This case demonstrates the importance of pharmacist-patient consultations and how a PGx consult may expose polypharmacy medicationrelated problems of greater significance than the PGx indication for the consult. In addition, the case demonstrates positive interprofessional collaboration between pharmacists and physicians to more effectively solve complex medication-related problems that may not be easily diagnosed through objective lab or diagnostic testing.

To provide an up-to-date review of current hyperlipidemia guidelines and discuss pharmacotherapeutic management of hyperlipidemia in older individuals.
A PubMed search of articles published through October 2020 was performed using a combination of the following words older adults, hyperlipidemia, statin, ezetimibe, fibrate, fish oil, niacin, bile acid sequestrant, and proprotein convertase subtilisin-kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitor.
Relevant original research, review articles, and guidelines were assessed for the management of hyperlipidemia in the older individuals. References from the above literature were also evaluated. Articles were selected for inclusion based on relevance to the topic, detailed methods, and complete results.
Hyperlipidemia is a common chronic disease state in the elderly population, though there is limited evidence for clinical outcomes in older people when compared withwith the general adult population. Statins have the most evidence for primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease in older people, though ezetimibe and PCSK9 inhibitors have a role as add-on or monotherapy in patients who do not tolerate statins.
Optimal management of hyperlipidemia in older people is important in order to avoid further complications and improve outcomes. Pharmacists can help improve management in the elderly by incorporating up-to-date evidence from guidelines and providing medication education specifically for this population.
