I never cared so much about a project in my life . When I Initially heard about capstone I automatically gave up on myself .My English teacher Mrs.Morrow made it a graduation requirement.From right then anxiety came into play. Then when ms.morrow said we can chose our topic I already knew what I wanted to do. Cancer is sensitive subject particularly colon cancer . On October 23,2015 my uncle have pass away battling colon cancer for 8years . My whole world just switch .In addition to I just wanted to bring awareness there are multiple types cancer .By the simple fact being colon cancer is the second lead cause of death.After being a family member of victim to that just inspired me.
At the beginning of the process of capstone I was organize. I was procrastinating because initially I didn't understand the concept. The first step was to type a letter that was listed . I made a last minute choice to chose to a person that I know that is most certified . Which is Mrs.Lawson. She is very busy and productive guidance consular at Melrose High School. Mrs.Lawson take the time out her busy schedule to make sure my binder was organize and make sure I was aware of dates. Also she made she custom made calendar to make sure I was up to dated.
Due to my home situation and trying juggle other class work was difficult. It was most certainly hard to manage.By the circumstances I was dealing with I made it my duty to meet my deadlines . I check my calendar , emails , and my advisor to make sure my assignments was punctual . Excuses are like autobiographies everyone has one . No matter what I was going through Its my responsibility to take of my business.That was one of my major struggle through out this project . Further more, was trying to stay in contact with my teacher and advisor ever week . I know we all have a life outside of Melrose but that was kind of hard.Athor thing was note cards and rough draft . I had to keep starting over until it was organize and up to part. I rather put my best effort or not do it at all.
Moreover, this project has been a successful one I ever did. By the simple fact being it was organize and I did it on a topic that I took highly interest in. The research wasn't really hard , but trying to find medicine that is beneficial to each stage was. The most part I am proud of is meeting my deadline and giving it my all. I did this in a organize manner that help me keep track of what I have to do next. The most shocking part about research is how chemotherapy is beneficial but also burn your healthy tissues to kill the cancer cells. Chemotherapy over help to ease pain and increase the chance of living.In order to do that it must go through the good tissue to destroy the bad. Also the symptoms was breathe taking. Just researching and watching some of the videos was a bit disturbing.I took all of it enhance it in my own the best I knew how.Through what I experience in this project is really a college ready method. I took advantage to conquer this project to something I can relate to. Also to pay contribute to my uncle who I love and truly be missed. This have been learning experience that I will excel in life. Doing this project have enhance my knowledge. This reach has been a real eye opener , because I like to go to the medical field . By doing this I know o can this project in some way in college. My main goal was bring awareness to colon cancer.
