Application of the modern microbial techniques changed the paradigm about the microorganisms performing nitrification. Numerous investigations recognized representatives of the genus Nitrospira as a key and predominant nitrite-oxidizing bacteria in biological nutrient removal systems, especially under low dissolved oxygen and substrate conditions. The recent discovery of Nitrospira capable of performing complete ammonia oxidation (comammox) raised a fundamental question about the actual role of Nitrospira in both nitrification steps. This review summarizes the current knowledge about morphological, physiological and genetic characteristics of the canonical and comammox Nitrospira. Potential implications of comammox for the functional aspects of nitrogen removal have been highlighted. The complex meta-analysis of literature data was applied to identify specific individual variables and their combined interactions on the Nitrospira abundance. In addition to dissolved oxygen and influent nitrogen concentrations, temperature and pH may play an important role in enhancing or suppressing the Nitrospira activity. Hydrological and thermal river regimes have changed greatly due to the construction of reservoirs and dams. Water temperature changes have important significance for aquatic habitats and freshwater ecosystems. To investigate the impact of large reservoirs on the water temperature regime along the middle reach of the Yangtze River, we present a probabilistic modeling framework to ascertain the joint dependence structures of air-water temperature and discharge-water temperature between pre-reservoir and post-reservoir periods based on the copula theory. The results show that the principle of maximum entropy (POME) method can better estimate the marginal distributions of temperature regimes. Reservoir operation disturbed the dependence structures of air-water temperature, especially after the Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR) was put into operation. Different shifts in the occurrence probabilities of high or low water temperatures at the downstream and upstream stations under extreme air temperature and discharge are observed, indicating the great effects of reservoirs on the dependence structures of the downstream river flow and thermal regime. Relying on the developed model, we propose the appropriate ranges of air temperature and discharge to maintain a suitable water temperature for Chinese sturgeon (Acipenser sinensis) spawning activity. The results of this study demonstrate the influence of dams on the thermal regime and can be helpful for optimizing reservoir operations to enhance biological conservation in the Yangtze River. INTRODUCTION Chronic illnesses are a major research challenge due to its implications in aging and quality of life of adults and elders, and it can be associated with chronic illnesses and other complaints. The objective of this study was to investigate the role of morbidities (chronic diseases with or without somatic unexplained symptoms) and somatic unexplained complaints in a hypothetical model of a multimorbidity painful syndrome. Our hypothesis is that chronic pain should be considered part of a syndrome that includes other chronic diseases and pathological states, especially conditions with somatic unexplained symptoms, and fibromyalgia is one of the evidence on that. METHODS A pilot sample of 306 subjects was investigated in this study (254; 83.0% with chronic pain). The following features were investigated demographic data, chronic diseases (classified as with or without somatic unexplained symptoms), medications in use, pain characteristics, fulfillment of diagnostic criteria of fibromyalgia, and somassociated with chronic pain, including fibromyalgia. They may be risks factors for pain spread. The findings support that chronic pain could be further investigated as part of a multimorbid syndrome, which should be better assessed to improve aging and quality of life of patients. Art therapy plays important role in classical psychological assessment as it allows expressing the subject's sense of self. However, its effectiveness and validity could be impeded by lack of relationship to the patients' neuronal changes in their brain. The aim of our theoretical-empirical paper is to propose a novel brain-based quantitative objective measurement of the self and how it shapes the drawing process. We discuss recent data that how the autocorrelation window (ACW) is related to the temporal continuity of self in current neuroscience and further develop a method to use ACW to measure the temporal continuity of the drawing process, probing it in two case studies. As expected, the schizophrenic subject shows lower ACW values compared to the healthy subject and reflects the well-known deficit in the temporal continuity of the self in schizophrenia. We concluded that ACW and eventually other measures of the brain's spatiotemporal structure might be able to serve as objective markers of the self in the drawing process. As our approach connects brain, self, and drawing process, it provides the theoretical basis for the future development of a brain-based assessment of the self in the drawing process and art therapy. In this published paper, a mathematical modeling has been conducted for the peristaltic transport in flow of hybrid nanofluid between rotating channel in the presence of nonlinear thermal radiation, slip effects and entropy generation. This corrigendum correct the flow geometry, figures captions and plots "Transport of hybrid type nanomaterials in peristaltic activity of viscous fluid considering nonlinear radiation, entropy optimization and slip effects" [Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine 184 (2020) 105,086] where these mistake are occurred during production process and therefore, some captions are shuffled. The difference in the captions and plots however does not affect the authenticity and mathematical validity of the problem in purpose of this published research article is to investigate the peristaltic transport in flow of hybrid nanofluid between rotating channel subject to nonlinear thermal radiation, slip effects and entropy generation. However, the flow geometry and the captions and plots should be arranged. V.OBJECTIVE Given that job strain can be a risk factor for health, the researchers looked at the meta-analysis in which consequences of musculoskeletal pain in job strain is reviewed. STUDY DESIGN Systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS After searching in databases based on keywords, studies were retrieved until January 2019. The extracted studies were combined altogether and the risk ratio was calculated. In addition, additional analysis was conducted at the end. RESULTS The results showed that job strain as a risk factor for musculoskeletal pain was 1.62. The risk ratio is equal to 1.38 in men and 1.28 in women. Begg (P = 0.629) and Egger (P = 0.251) tests were not significant but trim-and-fill method imputed 9 missing studies. CONCLUSIONS Job strain was a risk factor for physical health and increased the risk of musculoskeletal pain. Therefore, it seems psychologically healthy work environment is essential for the prevention of health problems. Phytochemical investigation of the roots of Arnebia euchroma led to the isolation of a new dimeric naphthoquinone, shikometabolin H (1), a new meroterpeniod, epoxyarnebinol (5) and a new ring A-seco hopane triterpenoid, 2, 3-secodiplopterol dioic acid (7), together with 18 known compounds. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analyses, including UV, IR, HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR. The absolute configuration of 1 was assigned by comparison of the experimental and calculated ECD data, whereas that of 5 was achieved by the comparison between experimental and calculated OR values. Compound 7 was found to be the first ring A-seco hopane triterpenoid ever reported. Data from MTT assays showed that compounds 1, 2, 4, 8, 11-14 and 19 possessed promising anti-proliferative activities in human melanoma cells A375 and A2058, and human colorectal adenocarcinoma cells HCT116 and SW620. In addition, molecular docking study was carried out to predict the possible binding modes of these active compounds with STAT3. Immunoblotting results further confirmed the inhibitory effects of compounds 1, 4, 8, 11, 14 and 19 on STAT3, which was indicated by the downregulated protein levels of phosphorylated and/or total STAT3 in A2058 and HCT116 cells. 5,6,7-Trimethoxy flavonoid salicylate derivatives were designed by the joining of three important pharmacophores (TMP, flavonoid, and SA) according to the combination principle. A series of novel trimethoxy flavonoid salicylate derivatives were synthesized and their in vitro anti-tumor activities were evaluated. Among these derivatives, compound 7f exhibited excellent antiproliferative activity against HGC-27 cells and MGC-803 cells with IC50 values of 10.26 ± 6.94 μM and 17.17 ± 3.03 μM, respectively. Subsequently, the effects on cell colony formation (clonogenic survival assay), cell migration (wound healing assay), cell cycle distribution (PI staining assay), cell apoptosis (Hoechst 33258 staining assay and annexin V-FITC/PI dual staining assay), lactate level (lactate measurement), microtubules disarrangement (immunofluorescence staining analysis) and docking posture (molecular docking simulation) were determined. Further western blot analysis confirmed that compound 7f could effectively down-regulate the expression of glycolysis-related proteins HIF-1α, PFKM and PKM2 and tumor angiogenesis-related proteins VEGF. Overall, these studies suggested that compound 7f, as the representative compound of those, might be a promising candidate for the treatment of gastric cancer and deserved the further studies. Lycopodium clavatum has been used in traditional medicine for the treatment of kidney disorders, rheumatic arthritis, cystitis, and gastritis. We isolated a new serratane triterpenoid (2), and five known triterpenoids (1, 3-6) from the ethyl acetate fraction of L. clavatum by bioactivity-guided fractionation based on their suppression of inflammatory cytokines. Two different cell lines, RAW 264.7 and HT-29 were used to determine the anti-inflammatory activity of the isolated compounds. Among them, compounds 1, 2, 4, and 5 significantly inhibited the production of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced NO in macrophages. Compounds 1, 2, 4, and 5 reduced inducible nitric oxide (iNOS) expression in RAW 264.7 cells and compounds 1 and 6 downregulated COX-2, which correlated with the reduced expression of PGE2. Compounds 1, 2, 4, and 5 downregulated pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-1β (IL-1β) in macrophages, and additionally suppressed the levels of IL-8 in HT-29 cells. To determine the signaling pathways involved in the suppression of NO production by these compounds, we investigated ERK1/2 and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) expression by western blot analysis. Trichostatin A nmr We observed that these compounds downregulated the expression of LPS-induced NF-κB and pERK 1/2 in RAW 264.7 cells. Our results demonstrate that serratane triterpenoids isolated from L. clavatum may be used as potential candidates for treating inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) due to their anti-inflammatory effects.
