Surface water quality deterioration is commonly associated with environmental changes and human activities. Although some research has been carried out to evaluate the relationship between various influencing factors and water quality, there is still very little scientific understanding on how to accurately define the key factors of water quality deterioration. This study aims to quantify the impact of environmental factors and land use land cover (LULC) changes on water quality in the Ebinur Lake Watershed, Xinjiang, China. A total of 20 water parameters were used to calculate the Environment Water Quality Index (CWQI). Meanwhile, the partial least squares-structural equation model (PLS-SEM) was used to quantify the impact of eleven factors influencing water quality in the watershed. We improve the CO2 emission measurement method for prefecture-level administrative regions and estimate the per capita CO2 emissions of 252 prefectural-level cities in China from 2003 to 2013. Using panel fixed effect model regression, and taking the terrain roughness index as an instrumental variable to solve endogeneity, we find that the relationship between regional density and per capita CO2 emissions presents in an inverted U-shape, per capita CO2 emissions first increase with the increase of regional density, and after reaching the turning point, it decreases with regional density. In this study, a process-based denitrification-decomposition (DNDC) model was used to simulate CH4 fluxes in a pristine tropical peatland in Sarawak. To test the accuracy of the model, eddy covariance tower datasets were compared. The model was validated for the year 2014, which showed the good performance of the model for simulating CH4 emissions. The monthly predictive ability of the model was better than the daily predictive ability, with a determination coefficient (R2) of 0.67, model error (ME) of 2.47, root mean square error (RMSE) of 3.33, mean absolute error (MAE) of 2.92 and mean square error (MSE) of 11.08. Adult participants (≥20 years) from the 2005 to 2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were included. Restricted cubic splines and the log-binomial regression were adopted. Multivariate adjusted prevalence ratios (95% confidence intervals) comparing extreme quartiles of urinary cobalt concentrations were 1.43 (1.29-1.57) for obesity, 1.43 (1.10-1.86) for insulin resistance, 1.21 (1.09-1.34) for metabolic syndrome, 1.16 (1.10-1.23) for elevated waist circumference, 1.20 (1.09-1.33) for elevated triglycerides, 1.14 (1.01-1.29) for reduced high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), 1.06 (0.98-1.15) for elevated blood pressure, and 0.91 (0.79-1.06) for elevated fasting glucose, respectively. Results from the restricted cubic splines showed that an initial steep increase in risk was followed by a weaker increase in risk or a platform beyond 1.0 µg/L for obesity (prevalence ratio (95% confidence interval) 1.41 (1.29-1.55)), insulin resistance (1.33 (1.07-1.65)), metabolic syndrome (1.18 (1.11-1.31)), elevated waist circumference (1.18 (1.11-1.25)), elevated triglycerides (1.21 (1.11-1.33)), and reduced HDL-C (1.15 (1.01-1.30)), respectively. In conclusion, the prevalence of obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, elevated waist circumference, elevated triglycerides, and reduced HDL-C progressively increased with increasing urinary cobalt concentrations. The above associations are non-linear and there is not a "safe threshold" below which there are no toxic effects of cobalt.In this work, the use of natural organic wastes (orange and lemon peels) as sources of citric acid was evaluated along with the application of the photoelectro-Fenton (PEF) system under non-modified pH as a novel alternative to degrade a complex mixture of pharmaceuticals sulfamethoxazole (SMX-7.90 × 10-5 mol/L) and trimethoprim (TMP-6.89 × 10-5 mol/L). The system was equipped with a carbon felt air diffusion cathode (GDE) and a Ti/IrO2 anode doped with SnO2 (DSA). A 3.6 × 10-5 mol/L solution of commercial citric acid was used as a reference. The pharmaceuticals' evolution in the mixture was followed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The addition of natural products showed an efficient simultaneous degradation of the antibiotics (100% of SMX and TMP at 45 min and 90 min, respectively) similar to the performance produced by adding the commercial citric acid to the PEF system. Moreover, the addition of natural products allowed for an increment of biodegradability (100% removal of TOC by a modified Zahn Wellens test) and a decrease in ecotoxicity (0% in the bioassay with D. Magna) of the treated solutions. The antibacterial activity was eliminated after only 45 min of treatment, suggesting that the degradation by-products do not represent a significant risk to human health or the environment in general. Results suggest that, because of the efficient formation of Fe-citrate complexes, the PEF could be enhanced by the addition of natural organic wastes as a sustainable alternative ecological system for water contaminated pharmaceuticals. Furthermore, honeybee products, focusing on their natural pharmacological properties, can play an essential role as a potential natural contrast to the virus by enhancing the immunity defenses of both humans and animals, and their demand by consumers is expected to increase. Several researchers in the last months focused their attention on bee products to evaluate their effect in the cure of COVID-19 patients to ameliorate the symptoms or to contrast the coronavirus directly. This review reports these preliminary results.With the rapid development of the rail industry, a large amount of construction waste will be generated during the construction phase, posing a significant risk of environmental pollution and exacerbating the plight of global resource shortages. This study establishes a green disposal system for rail transportation based on the theory of sustainable development. Shield slag, shield weathered sand, shale, and engineering slag are used as raw materials, and sintered bricks are adopted as their innovative disposal method. The heavy metals in the four types of construction waste and recycled products were tested by X-ray fluorescence analysis technique to analyze the actual environmental pollution risk and explore the influence of the firing stage on the performance of the recycled products through the enrichment factor evaluation method. The results of the physical and chemical property tests of the fired samples showed that the environmental pollution risk of the four recycled products after firing was at a low-risk level (EF less then 2), the strength test results showed that the best specimens had a strength rating of 20 MPa and the other performance indicators (frosting degree, lime bursting test) measured also met the requirements of the recycled bricks. This study achieves the harmless treatment of construction waste, provides a disposal system for the green recycling of construction waste from rail transport, and provides a theoretical basis for subsequent studies on the effects of different external conditions on such recycled products.
