Thirty percent of stroke patients will suffer from post-stroke depression (PSD). Recent data suggest that inflammation accounts for a substantial amount of depression. Our primary objective was to assess the association between standard inflammation biomarkers in the acute phase of stroke and PSD at three months. The secondary objective was to elaborate a predictive model of PSD from clinical, biological and radiological data.

We performed a retrospective analysis of a single-centre cohort of stroke patients with a three-month follow-up. Serum levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), fibrinogen, leukocyte count and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) were tested at admission and at peak. Mood was assessed at three months using the depression sub-scale of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). Association between inflammation biomarkers and HADS was evaluated with multi-linear regression adjusted on clinical and radiological parameters. Logistic predictive models of PSD at three months, with and without inflammation biomarkers, were compared.

Three hundred and forty-eight patients were included, of whom 20.06% developed PSD. Baseline and peak values of all inflammatory markers were associated with the severity of PSD at three months. Area under the curve for the receiver operating characteristic curve of PSD prediction was 0.746 (CI 95% 0.592-0.803) with selected inflammation biomarkers and 0.744 (CI 95% 0.587-0.799) without.

Neurological disorders associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection represent a clinical challenge because they encompass a broad neurological spectrum and may occur before the diagnosis of COVID-19.

In this monocentric retrospective case series, medical records from patients with acute neurological disorders associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection from medicine departments of an academic center in Paris area were collected between March 15
and May 15
2020. Diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 was ascertained through specific RT-PCR in nasopharyngeal swabs or based on circulating serum IgG antibodies.

Twenty-six patients diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection presented with neurological disorders encephalitis (N=8), encephalopathy (N=6), cerebrovascular events (ischemic strokes N=4 and vein thromboses N=2), other central nervous system (CNS) disorders (N=4), and Guillain-Barré syndrome (N=2). The diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 was delayed on average 1.6 days after the onset of neurological disorder, especially in case of encephalitithe diagnosis of atypical COVID-19 presentations.
Governments around the world have imposed varied containment measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19 infection. The psychological impact could be highly negative in patients with neurologic condition like Parkinson's Disease (PD).

We prospectively evaluated symptoms of depression and anxiety in 50 (26 females; mean age at 60.4) non demented Moroccan PD patients, using Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), at the beginning and after 6 weeks of a full confinement.

At the first evaluation, 28% of patients had depression while 32% had anxiety. CID1067700 After 6 weeks of confinement, some patients got worse and others got better scores but no significant statistical difference for both troubles was seen.

Our results show that there is no significant impact of 6 weeks of confinement on overall anxiety and depression scores. However, confinement could have an unexpected positive psychological impact on a significant number of PD patients.
