The aim of the present study was twofold (a) to determine if AR strength (quantified as both threshold and growth) varied with lifetime noise exposure, and thus provided an estimate of the degree of synaptopathy and (b) to identify which factors should be considered when using the AR as a quantitative measure rather than just present/absent responses. AR thresholds and growth functions were measured using ipsilateral and contralateral, broadband and tonal elicitors in adults with normal hearing and varying levels of lifetime noise exposure. Only the clinical standard 226 Hz probe tone was used. AR threshold and growth were not related to lifetime noise exposure, suggesting that routine clinical AR measures are not a sensitive measure when investigating the effects of noise exposure in audiometrically normal listeners. Our secondary, exploratory analyses revealed that AR threshold and growth were significantly related to middle-ear compliance. Listeners with higher middle-ear compliance (though still in the clinically normal range) showed lower AR thresholds and steeper AR growth functions. Furthermore, there was a difference in middle-ear compliance between the sexes, with males showing higher middle-ear compliance values than females. Therefore, it may be necessary to factor middle-ear compliance values into any analysis that uses the AR as an estimate of auditory function.Introduction The Transcultural Nursing Society (TCNS) recognizes transcultural nursing (TCN) scholars for creative leadership and advancing education, practice, research, and administration. The purpose of this study was to discover the historical context of scholars' professional growth and development and their contributions to and future vision for transcultural nursing. Method Leininger's Ethnonursing Research Method was used to develop an ethnohistorical qualitative approach that included a semistructured, open-ended interview guide and data analysis plan. Data were analyzed using NVivo software and Leininger's Phases of Ethnonursing Data Analysis Enabler for Qualitative Data. Results Analysis resulted in the discovery of five themes and 15 patterns related to the sources of scholars' interest in TCN; professional development strategies; contributions to TCN theory development, education, research, practice, service, and consultation; the responsibilities of being a TCN scholar; and their future vision for TCN. Discussion These findings could inspire and guide TCN scholars as they pursue the study and practice of TCN.Police officers gave accounts of how their perceptions toward Domestic and Family Violence have changed over repeated exposure to these types of incidents as first responders. Interviews were conducted with 16 police officers in an Australian state. Officers expressed a desire to help people and reported personal growth through increased interpersonal skills and open-mindedness but many also became disillusioned. Officers highlighted futility, paperwork, and scrutiny of their actions as factors that inhibited their ability to cope. Using data derived from the Campus Quality of Life Survey (CQLS), this article examines whether asking respondents to complete such a question increases the prevalence rates of four types of woman abuse and provides information on behaviors that are not included in widely used and validated measures of these harms.
It is unclear whether microRNAs could be a potential diagnostic biomarker for asthma or not. The objective of this study is to figure out the diagnostic value of microRNAs in asthma.

Literature retrieval, screening of publications, specific data extraction, and quality evaluation were conducted according to the standard criteria. Stata 14.0 software was used to analyze the diagnostic value of microRNA for asthma, including the combined sensitivity (Sen), specificity (Spe), the area under the curve (AUC), positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), and diagnostic odds ratio (DOR).

A total of 72 studies, containing 4143 cases and 2188 controls, were included for this comprehensive analysis. None of the included publications were rated low in quality. We summarized that, compared with controls, more than 100 miRNAs were reported differently expressed in asthma, although the expression trends were inconsistent.
