The following data were obtained and examined demographics, tumor histology, preoperative and postoperative therapy, complications, spinal reconstruction technique, tumor resection extent, survival time, and disease recurrence.

Eighteen patients were included. The mean population age was 61±17 years, and the most common pathological type was adenocarcinoma (61.1%). Complete resection (R0) was obtained in 15 patients (83.3%), positive surgical margins (R1) were found in three patients (16.7%), and the 90-day mortality rate was 0%. Postoperative major complications were detected in 12 patients (66.7%), who required reoperation. The mean survival time was 67±24 months, but the median survival time was not reached. Among the patients, 10 (55.6%) are still alive at the end of the study. The 2- and 5-year actual survival rates were 59% (95% confidence interval [CI], 35.7%-82.3%) and 52.5% (95% CI, 28.4%-76.6%), respectively.

Patient demographics, surgical data, readmissions, and total charges were examined. Comorbidity burden was calculated using the Charlson and Elixhauser comorbidity index. Complication rates were determined on the basis of diagnosis codes.

Diabetes is a significant risk factor for disc degeneration due to excessive apoptosis of disc cells and matrix degradation. However, no studies were noted to demonstrate the inhibitory effect of insulin treatment on the apoptosis of disc cells and matrix degradation in diabetic patients.

Rats were allocated randomly into one of three groups control, STZ, and STZ-insulin. Diabetes was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of STZ (65 mg/kg) in the STZ and STZ-insulin groups. The blood glucose level was consistently above 400 mg/ dL in the STZ and STZ-insulin groups 2 weeks after STZ injection. After 2 weeks of STZ injection, the STZ-insulin group was administered insulin treatment (1.5 unit/100 g) daily for up to 4 weeks. The classical features of Binder's syndrome (BS) have been widely reported, yet there is a lack of information on diagnostic and treatment challenges. Therefore, we aimed to review the literature on various aspects, including the role of a multidisciplinary approach in the management of BS.

A thorough literature search was performed on PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Ovid, Web of Science, EBSCOhost, and Google Scholar using the keywords"Maxillonasal dysplasia", "Maxillonasal dysostosis", "nasomaxillary hypoplasia", "Binder type", "Binder syndrome", "Binder phenotype", and "OMIM 155050". Clinical and imaging features of the patient were retrospectively reviewed. The patient, a 40-year-old female, presented adult-onset spastic paraplegia. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed white matter hyperintensities along bilateral optic radiations. Colorimetry of galactocerebrosidase enzyme activity showed low enzyme levels. A heterozygous missense mutation c.1658G>A (p.G553E) and c.1901T>C (p.L634S) was identified in the GALC gene by whole exome sequencing, and was verified by Sanger sequencing. KD should be considered when patients presented adult-onset spastic paraplegia with classical MRI imaging features. Mutation c.1658G>A (p.G553E) was novel in GALC gene and broaden the mutation spectrum.

This study aims to determine the prevalence and causes of marked blood eosinophilia in dogs.

/L (marked eosinophilia) between 2013 and 2017 were evaluated. Patients were allocated to 10 groups according to their major clinical findings.

Of 317 cases with marked eosinophilia, 19.6% had neoplasia, 19.1% gastrointestinal disorders, 13.6% health check, 10.4% endoparasites, 6% respiratory, 5.4% neurologic, 5.4% dermatologic, 4.8% urogenital, 3.2% endocrine disorders and 12.6% miscellaneous. Lymphomas (29%) and mast cell tumours (12.9%) were the most frequent tumours in the neoplasia group. A total of 72.6% of tumour-bearing dogs were older than 8 years, while 63.6% of dogs had endoparasites, and 86% of apparently healthy dogs were younger than 5years. Eosinophilia was significantly higher in patients with respiratory disorders (p<0.0146). Leukocytosis was found in 50.2% of cases.
