Trp8Arg polymorphism of the LH beta gene has decreased bioactivity in vivo and previous studies showed conflicting data on the effect of LH beta gene polymorphism on the IVF outcome. In this study, 591 IVF patients were recruited. Patients with the variant allele(s) were the carrier group. In GnRH antagonist cycles, the clinical pregnancy rate was significantly lower in the carrier group (18.9%) than in the noncarrier group (37.1%). In long GnRH agonist cycles, the clinical pregnancy rate was comparable between both groups. To clarify the effect of COH protocols, IVF outcomes in the GnRH antagonist and long GnRH agonist protocol groups in carriers were analysed. Among carriers, the clinical pregnancy rate was significantly lower in the GnRH antagonist protocol group (18.9%) than in the long GnRH agonist protocol group (45.2%). Single nucleotide polymorphism analysis may contribute to the individualisation of COH protocols for each patient in the future. Impact Statement What is already known on this subject? Single nucleotide polymorphism analysis may contribute to the individualisation of COH protocols for each patient in the future.Recent research shows personal financial debt is an important socioeconomic determinant of health, but the mechanisms through which it operates are not well understood. This article uses data from a mixed-methods study to explore how changes in spending and behavior that result from debt have salient health consequences in a cross-sectional sample of Boston area adults (n = 286). Findings show that a large majority of respondents had skipped medical care, housing payments, or consumer purchases at least once because of their debt. Controlling for multiple sociodemographic characteristics, each of these measures of debt-related behavior change was associated with worse self-rated health, and higher depressive symptoms, anxiety, and perceived stress. In models including all three measures, skipped medical care was associated with worse health across all outcomes, while skipped consumer purchases were associated with higher perceived stress and depression. These findings suggest that altered spending and care-seeking behaviors are potential pathways through which financial debt can negatively affect health and suggest areas in need of additional research.Previous research indicates whole-body vibration may lead to low back pain. The aim of this study is assessing the dynamic characteristics of a lumbar spine with Coflex and Coflex-F (commercial implants used as lumbar interspinous spacers) and effect of lumbar interbody fusion surgery. A transient dynamic analysis is performed on three numerical lumbar spine models under the loading condition of a vertical sinusoidal force of ±40 N with a compressive follower preload of 400 N. Also, Coflex-F model with and without interbody fusion surgery is analyzed under the same loading condition. The results show that the maximum value and vibration amplitude of von Mises stress in annulus ground substance (AGS) and intradiscal pressure (IDP) at implanted segment decrease from healthy model to Coflex model, and Coflex-F model. By contrast, for adjacent segments the maximum value of implanted models are larger than that of healthy model. The maximum value of endplates with and without cage are 2.44 MPa and 1.73 MPa (L4 inferior endplate), 1.94 MPa and 1.42 MPa (L5 superior endplate), respectively. ACE (I/D) gene would be a biomarker of early diagnosis of preeclampsia and also be helpful to intervene in personalised medicine and gene therapy as a novel treatment of preeclampsia.The aim of this study was to optimize and experimentally validate the certain parameters affecting the operation success of Mandibular Distraction Osteogenesis (MDO). According to FEA results, the displacement of the samples showed 28.5% reduction as only the osteotomy line was separately optimized, and 64.2% less displacement was determined when the osteotomy line and the screw configuration were optimized together. In consistent with the FEA results, the samples showed 62% and 84.5% fewer displacement values, respectively. As a result, the MDO protocol suggested, which is validated by both numerical and experimental studies, offers promising outcomes for operation success.
