However, the effect of different kinds of manures on bacterial community in farmland still remains unclear. In this study, a short-term field experiment was conducted to investigate the rapid effects of pig manure (PM), chicken manure (CM) and organic fertilizer (OF, composted by pig manure) application on soil physicochemical properties and soil bacterial community. The results showed that the application of CM and OF significantly increased soil bacterial richness (p  less then  0.05), mainly correlated with the increase of soil total nitrogen. HRO761 chemical structure Compared with CM and PM, OF had the greatest disturbance to soil bacterial structure. And total phosphorus showed the highest correlation with bacterial community. Meanwhile, the application of OF reduced the relative abundance of Actinobacteria, the organic matter synthetic bacteria, and Nitrospirae, the nitrifying bacteria, by 17.18% and 40.00%, respectively. 16S functional prediction analysis results shows that the application of OF increased the relative abundance of genes encoding Ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxyg (RuBsiCO), the genes involved in soil Calvin cycling, by 20.51%, and increased the relative abundance of genes encoding nitrous-oxide reductase by 44.86%. In conclusion, Short-term application of OF had greater disturbance to soil bacteria than CM and PM, and it had a significant influence on soil functional bacteria and genes involved in soil carbon and nitrogen cycling.In this article, I analyze how in basic health-care facilities in Morocco, general practitioners transform patients' problems into solvable problems, taking into account constraints related to medical standards, financial issues, the organization of the health system, and care. My focus is on hypertension, or high blood pressure. I argue that standards allow the solving of patients' problems through the production of an entity called high blood pressure. However, the 'high blood pressure' enacted is different from the entity defined by standards. Fragments of the latter, borrowed from other contexts, are put to work in Morocco, while the material arrangements needed to enforce and have them work without discontinuities do not exist. This contributes to the production of an entity configured at a moment in time between standards and patients' lives.This study aims to determine cutoff values for shock index (SI) to predict the need for transfusion and composite adverse outcomes in postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) cases. One hundred thirty PPH cases (study group) that necessitated blood transfusion were retrospectively compared to a frequency-matched control group (n = 130). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and decision tree [Classification & Regression Tree (C&RT) and Chi-square Automatic Interaction Detector (CHAID)] were used to identify cutoff values for SI. Cutoff values for postdelivery, peak and delta SI values for the prediction of PPH that required transfusion were 0.9125 (0.815 sensitivity, 0.923 specificity), 0.9145 (0.892 sensitivity, 0.823 specificity) and 0.195 (0.823 sensitivity, 0.885 specificity), while cutoff values for the same SI values in the prediction of composite adverse outcome were 1.315 (0.645 sensitivity, 0.616 specificity), 1.183 (0.613 sensitivity, 0.737 specificity) and 0.487 (0.710 sensitivity, 0.758 specificity). Delta SI was superior to postdelivery and peak SI in the prediction of PPH that required transfusion. Peak SI was superior to postdelivery and delta SI in the prediction of composite adverse outcome. In conclusion, increased postdelivery, peak, and delta SI values were related to adverse outcomes for PPH. SI seems to be a practical and effective method for the objective assessment of postpartum hemorrhage.If illness behaviour is to be fully understood, the social and behavioural sciences must work together to understand the wider forms in which illness is experienced and communicated with individuals and society. The current paper synthesised literature across social and behavioural sciences exploring illness experience and communication through physical and mental images. It argues that images may have the capacity to embody and influence beliefs, emotions, and health outcomes. While four commonalities exist, facilitating understandings of illness behaviour across the fields (i.e., understanding the importance of the patient perspective; perception of the cause, sense of identity with the illness, consequences, and level of control; health beliefs influencing illness experience, behaviours, and outcomes; and understanding illness beliefs and experiences through an almost exclusive focus on the written or spoken word), we will focus on exploring the fourth commonality. The choice to focus on the role of images on illness behaviour is due to the proliferation of interventions using image-based approaches. While these novel approaches show merit, there is a scarcity of theoretical underpinnings and explorations into the ways in which these are developed and into how people perceive and understand their own illnesses using image representations. The current paper identified that the use of images can elucidate patient and practitioner understandings of illness, facilitate communication, and potentially influence illness behaviours. It further identified commonalities across the social and behavioural sciences to facilitate theory informed understandings of illness behaviour which could be applied to visual intervention development to improve health outcomes.Empathy, a core process for social interactions, is the capacity to understand and share others' mental states and emotions. Each individual is thought to have a maximum level of empathy (empathic ability) and a spontaneous tendency to express it (empathic propensity), which can be affected by multiple factors. Two within-subject studies were conducted to assess the malleability of empathy by modulating contextual factors and measuring their interaction with psychological characteristics. In Study 1, 59 healthy adults evaluated their empathy for people showing facial expressions of pain following different instructions Passive Observation and Instruction to Actively Empathize. In Study 2, 56 healthy adults performed a similar task under two conditions Passive Observation and Observation under a Cognitive Load. The results revealed that empathy was significantly increased in the actively empathizing condition (Study 1) and under a cognitive load, but more importantly for men (Study 2). The level of change between the two conditions was associated with self-reported empathy, autistic, alexithymia and psychopathic traits (Study 1), as well as with working memory capacities and the level of empathy reported in the passive observation condition (Study 2).
