Sixty-four intact plus four rumen cannulated Angus × Nellore heifers (359.0 ± 12.15 kg BW) were used. The cannulated animals received the same diets as the intact ones to determine the ruminal N-NH3 concentration, pH, and chewing activity weekly. All heifers were maintained in Brachiaria brizantha pasture and supplemented with a concentrate containing corn, soybean meal, urea, premixed minerals, and glycerin partially replacing corn. A completely randomized experimental design was used, with two treatments (corn ground or glycerin + corn ground). The inclusion of crude glycerin (high fat) decreased nutrients intake and ruminal N-NH3 concentration in the rumen but increased lipid intake. Inclusion of glycerin had no effect (P > 0.05) on ruminal pH, daily gain, performance, time spent eating, rumination, idling, or water intake. The moisture, ash, and protein contents of meat were not affected (P > 0.05) by crude glycerin intake. Crude glycerin increased saturated fatty acids (C140, C160, and C180) and decreased unsaturated fatty acids (C182n6c and C201) in meat. Despite the reduction in nutrient intake, we recommend crude glycerin to replace corn in concentrate because glycerin did not impair the performance, meat composition, and ruminal pH. Therefore, crude glycerin is a by-product that can partially replace corn in diets efficiently.
Side effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines include pain at the injection site, fatigue, headache, myalgias, arthralgias, chills, and fever, all of which can be early indicators of an increased need for glucocorticoid replacement in patients with adrenal insufficiency. The Pituitary Society surveyed its membership to understand planned approaches to glucocorticoid management in patients with adrenal insufficiency who will receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
Members were asked to complete up to 3 questions regarding their planned approach for use of glucocorticoid replacement in patients with proven adrenal insufficiency.
Surveys were sent to 273 members and 103 responded. Thirty-six percent plan to recommend that patients automatically increase glucocorticoid dosage with administration of the first vaccine injection. Of these, 84% plan to increase glucocorticoid dose on the day of vaccination, and 49% plan to increase glucocorticoid dose prior to vaccination. Of the 64% who do not plan to recommend automatic glucocorticoid dose increase with vaccine administration, 88% plan to increase the dose if the patient develops a fever, and 47% plan to increase the dose if myalgias and arthralgias occur.

One avenue that has been proposed to change this is to strengthen the interaction between artificial intelligence (AI) research and neuroscience. Since their historical beginnings, ANNs and AI, in general, have developed in close alignment with both neuroscience and psychology. In addition to deep learning, reinforcement learning (RL) is another approach that is strongly linked to AI and neuroscience to understand how learning is implemented in the brain. In a recently published article, Botvinick et al. Here, I summarise Botvinick et al.'s main arguments and frame them in the context of the study of learning, memory and spatial navigation. I believe that applying this approach to study spatial navigation can provide useful insights for the understanding of how the brain builds, processes and stores representations of the outside world to extract knowledge.In this study, a systematic review and a meta-analysis were conducted to analyse recent worldwide information about the prevalence of Salmonella spp. in vegetables and fruits to estimate the effect of the different processes such as washing, cutting or disinfection, and place of sampling. A systematic search was conducted for articles from 2014 to 2020 published to date regarding prevalence of Salmonella spp. in vegetables and fruits, without excluding material by location, or author. It was possible to determine eight categories for vegetables and fruits in comparison with the meta-analysis which showed five categories due to data availability. Results showed prevalence for Salmonella spp. of 0.1%, 0.2%, 13.7%, 0.1%, and 0% for fruits, leafy vegetables, mixed vegetables related to ready-to-eat salads (RTE), tubercles, and tomatoes, respectively. Moreover, categories such as fruits, tubercles, and tomatoes as associated with different types of preparations and places of sampling (Retail stores, fresh products wholesale, street markets, distribution centers, farms, and processing plants) did not present a significant combined effect on the prevalence of Salmonella spp.
