However, research is lacking on the specific mechanisms. Therefore, the current study aimed to investigate potential mediating and moderating mechanisms of SOC-R in the relationship between stress and health. Using a cross-sectional design, standardized questionnaires assessed SOC-R, acute (perceived) stress, early-life adversity (ELA; indicator for early-life chronic stress), mental and physical health, and satisfaction with life. Mediation and moderation analyses were conducted with N = 531 Irish adults (mean age 59.5 years; 58.4% female). Regarding acute (perceived) stress, results showed that SOC-R and its Manageability subscale significantly mediated the association between perceived stress and mental health, and satisfaction with life. SOC-R and its Manageability subscale also significantly moderated the association between perceived stress and mental health. Regarding ELA, the Manageability subscale significantly mediated the association between ELA and mental health, and satisfaction with life; and the Balance subscale significantly mediated the association between ELA and physical health. SOC-R may provide a useful focus for stress-related research, with future longitudinal studies needed to examine SOC-R as a long-term modulating pathway between stress and health.

Studies have examined how fear of COVID-19 contributes to the mental, physical and work adjustment among nurses. To date, few studies have been conducted examining how caring for patients with COVID-19 contributes to work outcomes among nurses.

This is a cross-sectional survey involving 1705 frontline nurses and licensed practical nurses in Quebec, Canada. From these, 782 reported caring for COVID-19 patients.

High chronic fatigue, poor quality of care, lower work satisfaction and higher intention to leave their organisation were found for nurses caring for COVID-19 patients. Poorly prepared and overwhelmed nurses showed higher turnover intention than those well prepared and in control.

There is an urgent need to provide support to nurses during the pandemic, with a long-term strategy to increase their retention.

JHU395 Modern technological developments and research methodologies made it possible to detect and identify this kind of skin cancer more effectively; however, the automated localization and segmentation of skin lesion at earlier stages is still a challenging task due to the low contrast between melanoma moles and skin portion and a higher level of color similarity between melanoma-affected and -nonaffected areas. In this paper, we present a fully automated method for segmenting the skin melanoma at its earliest stage by employing a deep-learning-based approach, namely faster region-based convolutional neural networks (RCNN) along with fuzzy k-means clustering (FKM). Several clinical images are utilized to test the presented method so that it may help the dermatologist in diagnosing this life-threatening disease at its earliest stage. link2 The presented method first preprocesses the dataset images to remove the noise and illumination problems and enhance the visual information before applying the faster-RCNN to obtain the feature vector of fixed length. After that, FKM has been employed to segment the melanoma-affected portion of skin with variable size and boundaries. The performance of the presented method is evaluated on the three standard datasets, namely ISBI-2016, ISIC-2017, and PH2, and the results show that the presented method outperforms the state-of-the-art approaches. The presented method attains an average accuracy of 95.40, 93.1, and 95.6% on the ISIC-2016, ISIC-2017, and PH2 datasets, respectively, which is showing its robustness to skin lesion recognition and segmentation.

Many community mental health facilities in Korea are consist of the small size of members, and the turnover rate of mental health professionals is high. However, the influence of individual and organizational factors for lowering the turnover is not clearly identified.

This was a descriptive study. Data of 168 participants were collected through a self-reported online questionnaire using a convenience sample, June 2020.

Multiple regression analysis uses interactional justice (β= -.437, p= .002), distributional justice (β= -.190, p= .011) and age (β= -.152, p= .033) that were the most important predictors of turnover intention.

Orgnisational factors such as distributional and interactional justice affect to reduce turnover intention more than an individual factor like the workplace spirituality of professionals.

Because only a small percentage of nurses work at community mental health facilities, it is necessary to reduce turnover by creating a work environment where young nurse practitioners can work long-term and grow into leaders.To determine the effects of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) treatment and subsequent withdrawal on uterine proliferation and estrogen receptor (ESR), Brahman crossbred heifers (n = 12) were twice daily injected with FSH (4, 3, and 2 mg/injection) on Days 17-19 of the estrous cycle (FSH 3 days) and (4 and 3 mg/injection) on Days 17-18 (FSH 2 days) and withdrawal with saline on Day 19 and (4 mg/injection) on Day 17 (FSH 1 day) and withdrawal with saline on Days 18-19. Uterine tissue was subjectively collected on Day 20 and microscopically classified to four regions endometrial stroma (ES), surface endometrial gland (EG), deep endometrial gland (DG), and myometrium (Myo). The cell proliferation marker, Ki-67, was quantified as labeling index (LI) in uterine regions, and tissues were immunostained to detect ESR2 followed by image analysis. The LI of ES, EG, and DG was greater (P = 0.0018, P = 0.0005, and P = 0.0103; respectively) in heifers received FSH for 3 days. The expression of ESR2 protein on ES and EG was greatest (P  less then  0.0001 and P = 0.0036, respectively) in FSH 3 days-treated group. Thus, FSH administration during proestrus stimulates uterine cell proliferation, and ESR2 expressions are affected by FSH during proestrus and differentially distributed in the uterine regions.The ability to form spheroids under non-adherent conditions is a well-known property of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs), in addition to stemness and multilineage differentiation features. In the present study, we tested the ability of hMSCs isolated from the vascular wall (hVW-MSCs) to grow as spheres, and provide a characterization of this 3D model. hVW-MSCs were isolated from femoral arteries through enzymatic digestion. Spheres were obtained using ultra-low attachment and hanging drop methods. Immunophenotype and pluripotent genes (SOX-2, OCT-4, NANOG) were analyzed by immunocytochemistry and real-time PCR, respectively. Spheres histological and ultrastructural architecture were examined. Cell viability and proliferative capacity were measured using LIVE/DEATH assay and ki-67 proliferation marker. Metabolomic profile was obtained with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. In 2D, hVW-MSCs were spindle-shaped, expressed mesenchymal antigens, and displayed mesengenic potential. 3D cultures of hVW-MSCs were CD44+ , CD105low , CD90low , exhibited a low propensity to enter the cell cycle as indicated by low percentage of ki-67 expression and accumulated intermediate metabolites pointing to slowed metabolism. The 3D model of hVW-MSCs exhibits stemness, dormancy and slow metabolism, typically observed in stem cell niches. This culture strategy can represent an accurate model to investigate hMSCs features for future clinical applications in the vascular field.Phosphine (PH3 ) is widely used as an insecticide and rodenticide. On the contrary, many cases of PH3 poisoning have been reported worldwide. Unfortunately, there is no specific antidote against PH3 toxicity. Disruption of mitochondrial function and energy metabolism is a well-known mechanism of PH3 cytotoxicity. Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is an adenosine triphosphate supplying agent which significantly improves mitochondrial function. The current study was designed to evaluate DHA's effect on inhalational PH3 poisoning in an animal model. DHA was injected into BALB/c mice before and/or after the start of the PH3 inhalation. The cytochrome c oxidase activity was assessed in the animals' brain, heart, and liver exposed to PH3 (for 15, 30, and 60 min, with and without the antidote). The LC50 of PH3 was calculated to be 18.02 (15.42-20.55) ppm over 2 h of exposure. link3 Pretreatment of DHA (1 or 2 g/kg) increased the LC50 of PH3 by about 1.6- or 3-fold, respectively. Posttreatment with DHA (2 g/kg) increased the LC50 of PH3 by about 1.4-fold. PH3 inhibited the activity of cytochrome c oxidase in the assessed organs. It was found that DHA treatment restored mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase activity. These findings suggested that DHA could be an effective antidote for PH3 poisoning.
