Salivary cortisol was sampled diurnally and during two test sessions, one session with the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST), to explore differences in the relationship between cortisol and memory function in age-normal cognition (NA) and aMCI. Participants with aMCI (n=6 women, 9 men; mean age=75) or similarly aged NA (n=9 women, 7 men, mean age=75) were given tests of episodic, associative, and spatial working memory with a psychosocial stressor (TSST) in the second session.
The aMCI group performed worse on the memory tests than NA as expected, and males with aMCI had elevated cortisol levels on test days. We measured the functionality of the gut microbiome and metabolome of 63 infants between ages 3 weeks and 12 months with well-defined eczema cases and controls in a sub-cohort from the Growing Up in Singapore Toward healthy Outcomes (GUSTO) mother-offspring cohort. At 3 weeks, the microbiome and metabolome of allergen-sensitized atopic eczema infants were characterized by an enrichment of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, associated with increased stool D-glucose concentration and increased gene expression of associated virulence factors. A delayed colonization by beneficial Bacteroides fragilis and subsequent delayed accumulation of butyrate and propionate producers after 3 months was also observed. Reports of successful RTT use are scarce, and the FDA has not yet published RTT usage data, yet proponents tout its utility. In the face of this discrepancy and a lack of transparency of usage statistics, our aim is to add to the limited understanding of RTT usage. Materials & methods We searched crowdfunding campaigns referencing 'expanded access', 'right to try' or 'compassionate use' since 2018. Results We identified 26 EA campaigns, 29 RTT campaigns and two referencing both. Twenty one EA campaigns described being approved to receive access to the requested experimental medical product versus one RTT campaign. Conclusion RTT is associated with poor understanding of nontrial pre-approval access. These campaigns suggest RTT is not offering a practical alternative to EA. Cost remains a significant barrier to these patients.
Little is known about the patterns of prosthesis use and satisfaction of those who cease use or begin to use upper limb prostheses.
Among a longitudinal sample of Veterans with upper limb amputation, (1) describe changes in prosthesis use over 1 year, (2) examine rates of receipt of new prostheses, and (3) compare prosthesis satisfaction in respondents who received a new prosthesis to those who did not.

808 Veterans who had participated in a baseline interview 1 year earlier were invited to participate in structured telephone interviews.
A total of 562 persons with unilateral and 23 with bilateral amputation participated in the interviews (Response rate = 72.4% and 85.2%, respectively). Prosthesis use, frequency and intensity of use, and types of prostheses used were stable over 1 year. About 24% reported using a different primary terminal device type at follow-up than baseline. Prosthesis use was less frequent/intense at baseline among those who discontinued use compared with those who did not (
< 0.05), and less frequent/intense for those who started compared with those who continued using a prosthesis (
< 0.0001). Rates of prosthetic training were higher among those who received a different prosthesis type compared with those using the same type (
= 0.06). Satisfaction scores were higher (
< 0.01) for new prosthesis recipients, and lower at baseline for prosthesis abandoners compared with continued users (
= 0.03).
Prosthesis abandonment appears to be predicated on dissatisfaction with the device, as well as less frequent/intense prosthesis use. These findings can be used to identify those at risk for prosthesis abandonment and improve their prosthesis experience.

The results of 4 experiments from two different laboratories, designed to replicate and extend the van Dam et al. motor consolidation effect, are presented here. Two of the experiments (n = 30 and n = 44) exactly and independently replicated the experimental design and conditions of the original experiment. Yes/No recognition scores plus additional analysis of response times showed no motor consolidation effects. A third experiment (n = 44) manipulating type of processing during encoding also failed to find significant motor consolidation effects.
