Sometimes, posttraumatic BPPV and subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) exist together. How to effectively recognize SAH especially concealed bleeding before maneuver treatment for BPPV is worth paying attention by every clinician. Presently described is a case that when there are some clinical symptoms cannot be completely explained by simple BPPV, the combination of CT and FLAIR MRI sequences are needed in the early-stage detection of acute SAH. It is a rare but emergent cause of human pathologies especially in immunocompromised patients. We described the first case in the literature of isolated external otitis sustained by Raoultella ornithinolytica in an immunocompetent host. A 54-year-old Caucasian man with a history of previous myringoplasty came to our attention reporting otalgia and otorrhea. We performed right ear swab for culture examination, meanwhile we started empirical therapy with topic administration of neomycin, without any clinical improvement. The cultural examination showed the presence of a Raoultella ornithinolytica infection. After ten days of treatment with oral ciprofloxacin and topic levofloxacin, there was the complete resolution of pain and inflammation. Raoultella ornithinolytica must be taken into consideration as an emergent cause of human infection, also in case of external otitis. Materials and Methods. Patients with obstructed OC disease who underwent endoscopic OC opening for treatment were enrolled. The endoscopic olfactory cleft opening was performed under local anesthesia. Under an endoscopy, the middle and superior turbinates were gently lateralized to open the OC using an elevator. The phenyl ethyl alcohol threshold test was performed to evaluate the olfactory function both before and after surgery. Results An endoscopic OC opening was performed on 42 patients. Amongst them, the etiology of OC obstruction revealed anatomic anomalies in 14 patients, inflammatory process in 14, and anatomic anomalies as well as inflammatory process in 14. The phenyl ethyl alcohol threshold levels improved in 32 (76.2%) of the patients after surgery. Copyright © 2020 Rong-San Jiang and Kai-Li Liang.Objectives Essential thrombocythemia (ET) is one of the myeloproliferative neoplasms characterized by a sustained elevation of platelet numbers with a tendency for thrombosis and hemorrhage. The aim of this work is to establish the relation between calreticulin, factor V Leiden, prothrombin G20210A, and MTHFR mutations in ET patients and the thrombotic risk of these patients. Methods This study was carried out on 120 ET patients and 40 apparently healthy individuals as a control group. Results There were increases in WBCs, PLT counts, PT, fibrinogen concentration factor V Leiden, and MTHFR mutation in ET patients as compared to the control group (P 0.05). ET patients with factor V Leiden, prothrombin gene, and CALR mutations were more prone to thrombosis (odds ratio 5.6, 5.7 and 4.7, respectively). On the contrary, JAk2V 617F and MTHFR mutations have no effect on the thrombotic state of those patients. Conclusion There is a significant increase risk of thrombosis in ET patients with CALR mutation, thrombophilic mutations, as well as factor V Leiden and prothrombin gene mutation with a risk of developing leukemic transformation. El-Ghonemy et al.In our research, a straightforward UPLC-MS/MS method, with diazepam as the internal standard (IS), was proposed and acknowledged to determine the concentrations of enasidenib in rat plasma. When preparing the sample, we used acetonitrile for protein precipitation. The gradient elution method was used, and the mobile phase was acetonitrile and 0.1% formic acid. Diazepam was used as the IS. We used the Acquity UPLC BEH C18 column to separate enasidenib and IS. Under the positive ion electrospray ionization (ESI) source conditions, the mass transfer pairs of enasidenib were monitored by multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) to be m/z 474.2 ⟶ 456.1 and m/z 474.2 ⟶ 267.0, and the IS mass transfer pairs were m/z 285.0 ⟶ 154.0. Enasidenib had good linearity (r 2 = 0.9985) in the concentration range of 1.0-1000 ng/mL. Besides, the values of intraday and interday precision were 2.25-8.40% and 3.94-5.46%, respectively, and the range of the accuracy values varied from -1.44 to 2.34%. Matrix effect, extraction recovery, and stability were compliant with FDA approval guidelines in terms of bioanalytical method validation. Gastric juice migration is nowadays widely implemented to assess organic tin intake from toys or food-contact materials; however, the followed up detection method using sodium tetraethylborate [NaB(Et4)] as a derivatization agent may directly lead to false positive of monomethyltins (MMT). Objective In order to avoid the phenomena of false positive of MMT in the course of laboratory testing of toys, it is necessary and important to perform relative experimental and theoretical studies to reveal the cause of false positive of MMT. Method With metal tin powder as a representative of inorganic tin which existed in real samples, it was treated with artificial gastric juice (0.07 mol/L·HCl), followed by ethyl derivatization using sodium tetraethylborate [NaB(Et)4] and then analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) according to the procedure specified in the standard of EN 71-32013+A32018 issued by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN).
