In addition, 23 upregulated terpene transporter genes were identified, and these genes might participate in blinin transport during the response to UV-B. Taken together, these results implied that enhanced antioxidant capacity and upregulated transporter genes contributed to increased synthesis of blinin in response to UV-B in C. #link# blinii.Though evidence exists on the association between diazinon (DZN), an organophosphate pesticide, with hyperglycemia, contrasting reports also exist. Herein, we performed a systematic and meta-analysis study to address this issue. A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Ovid Medline, Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science up to April 5, 2020, searching for animal studies (rodents and fish) that assessed the impact of DZN on blood glucose concentration. The risk of bias was assessed by the SYRCLE's RoB scale. Once Galicaftor manufacturer was assessed, a random-effects meta-regression was used to pool the data into a meta-analysis. Heterogeneity between the studies was evaluated with the I square and Q test. Random-effect meta-analysis of 19 studies (I2 = 90.5%, p less then 0.001) indicated low heterogeneity between the studies. DZN significantly increased blood glucose levels in the exposed versus control groups (95% CI 2.46-4.94; Z = 5.86; p less then 0.001). Subgroup analysis indicated that the effect of high-dose (3.40 (95% CI 2.03-4.76)) DZN on changes in blood glucose was more pronounced than in the low dose (4.83 (95% CI 1.56-8.11)). It was also ascertained that the blood glucose level was significantly higher in females (3.55 (95% CI 2.21-4.89)) versus males (4.87 (95% CI 0.20-9.55)) exposed to DZN. No publication bias was observed. Sensitivity analysis showed the robustness of the (standardized mean differences 3.26-4.03). Our findings establish an association between DZN exposure and hyperglycemia in rodents and fish, which is both dose- and gender-dependent.In the present study, occurrence of arsenic (As) and lead (Pb) is reported in rural and urban household dust (floor and AC filter dust) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Several studies have found concerning concentrations of these toxic metals in indoor dust from different countries, but data from this region is missing. The association between studied toxic metals and different socioeconomic parameters was investigated. Furthermore, health risk associated with these toxic metals via dust exposure was evaluated for the Saudi population. link2 Mean concentration of Pb was several times higher than As in both types of dust samples. AC filter dust was more contaminated with these metals than floor dust. Levels of Pb were up to 775 ppm in AC filter dust from urban areas, while 167 ppm in rural AC filter dust. Different socioeconomic parameters did not influence much on the presence of studied metals in both AC and floor dust. To estimate health risk from contaminated dust hazardous index (HI), hazardous quotient (HQ), and incremental lifetime cancer risk (ILCR) via dust ingestion, inhalation, and dermal contact was calculate using USEPA equations. The ILCR range for both toxic metals was within the tolerable range of reference values of USEPA (1 × 10-5 to 5 × 10-7). Nonetheless, HI was close to 1 for Pb via dust exposure for young urban children, which signifies the risk of non-carcinogenic health problems in studied area. Graphical abstract.Nanopriming is an emerging field of science which uses nanoparticles in solution to improve parameters of seed vigor. This leads to an initial advantage to the crop plant at the germination phase of its life cycle, which is also the most vulnerable phase and may lead to an improved yield. In this study, we have synthesized copper oxide (CuO) and (3-Aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (APTES)-coated CuO (CuO@APTES) nanoparticles via environmentally friendly green synthesis using the extract of Coriandrum sativum (coriander) herb. The synthesized nanoparticles were used as nanoprimers on Vigna radiata (moong bean), a model legume, to promote seed vigor via increase in germination. This was followed by characterization and comparison of both types of nanoparticles using various physicochemical techniques; UV-Visible (UV-Vis), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), dynamic light scattering (DLS), zeta potential, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). All characterization techniques pointed out to the successful synthesis and coating of CuO nanoparticles. Seed imbibition and germination assays were performed, which indicated increased imbibition potential and germination promotion at low nanoparticle concentration. Such studies can be used in the development of simple prepackaged nanoprimer products, which can be used by farmers before sowing to provide a boost to their crops and productivity. The paper briefly presents goals, activities, challenges, and outcomes of the NETCHEM project ( http//www.netchem.ac.rs/ ) that was co-funded by the Erasmus+ Program of European Union (573885-EPP-1-2016-1-RS-EPPKA2- CBHE-JP). However, it remains unclear whether the conditioning with Fenton's reagent would simultaneously attenuate antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in sludge and improve sludge dewaterability. It was found in the present study that sludge pre-acidification played a pivotal role in simultaneously removing ARGs and improving sludge dewaterability by conditioning with Fenton's reagent. When the sewage sludge was pre-acidified to pH = 3.0 and was then conditioned using Fenton's reagent, the absolute abundances of the total ARGs and the total mobile genic elements (MGEs) in conditioned sludge were reduced by 1.85-2.10 and 2.84-3.12 log units, respectively. Additionally, sludge capillary suction time (CST) and specific resistance to filtration (SRF) were drastically reduced, and the moisture content (MC) in dewatered sludge cake was reduced to only 60.61-69.95%. Such effective attenuation of ARGs and MGEs in conditioned sludge led to their removal in both the dewatered sludge cakes and dewatering filtrate. However, only the improvement of sludge dewaterability was attained by sludge conditioning with Fenton's reagent but without sludge pre-acidification. During the conditioning treatment, the removal of loosely bound extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) and tightly bound EPS in conditioned sludge contributed to the improvement of sludge dewaterability, and the damage of sludge microbial cells was highly correlated with the attenuation of antibiotic resistance. Thus, sludge pre-acidification combined with conditioning using Fenton's reagent can be employed to simultaneously attenuate the antibiotic resistance in sewage sludge and improve sludge dewaterability. One of the main challenges of electrochemical Fenton-based processes is the treatment of organic pollutants at near-neutral pH. As a potential approach to this problem, this work addresses the use of a low content of soluble chelated metal catalyst, formed between Fe(III) and ethylenediamine-N,N'-disuccinic (EDDS) acid (11), to degrade the herbicide triclopyr in 0.050 M Na2SO4 solutions at pH 7.0 by photoelectro-Fenton with UVA light or sunlight (PEF and SPEF, respectively). Comparison with electro-Fenton treatments revealed the crucial role of the photo-Fenton-like reaction, since this promoted the production of soluble Fe(II) that enhanced the pesticide removal. Hydroxyl radicals formed at the anode surface and in the bulk were the main oxidants. A boron-doped diamond (BDD) anode yielded a greater mineralization than an IrO2-based one, at the expense of reduced cost-effectiveness. The effect of catalyst concentration and current density on the performance of PEF with BDD was examined. The PEF trials in 0.25 mM Na2SO4 + 0.35 mM NaCl medium showed a large influence of generated active chlorine as oxidant, being IrO2 more suitable than RuO2 and BDD. In SPEF with BDD, the higher light intensity from solar photons accelerated the removal of the catalyst and triclopyr, with small effect on mineralization. A plausible route for the herbicide degradation by Fe(III)-EDDS-catalyzed PEF and SPEF is finally proposed based on detected byproducts three heteroaromatic and four linear N-aliphatic compounds, formamide, and tartronic and oxamic acids. The study intends to explore the following objectives initially, to examine the non-linear connection between globalization, renewable energy consumption, and environmental degradation. Secondly, to evaluate the role of globalization in increasing or decreasing the carbon emission at the threshold level for different income countries. Panel smooth transition regression (PSTR) is an econometric technique that has been applied for estimation utilizing the data from 1995 to 2017. Results signify that the globalization and environmental degradation have non-linear connection and depends on different regimes. Moreover, on the basis of estimation, it is considered that the effect beyond the threshold level can be damaging, whereas less than the threshold level globalization is positively related to carbon emission. Hence, the inverted U-shaped relation denotes that at a specific level, the rise in globalization reduces carbon emission, but later, a specific level globalization accumulates carbon emission. Carbon emission has non-linear and regime-dependent relation to economic development and renewable energy consumption. The study provides recommendations that can assist policymakers.Since the beginning of the 21st century, a number of regulations on corporate environmental information disclosure have been issued. Given the bottom-up nature of environmental information disclosure policy, increasing concerns about influencing factors have emerged; however, the specific influencing factors and mechanisms of environmental information disclosure remain unknown. This article explores the influencing factors and mechanisms of corporate environmental information disclosure. Through a random-effect GLS regression analysis of 363 listed manufacturing companies from the Shanghai Stock Exchange for 2012-2018, we find empirical support for our prediction that the link between internal/external factors and environmental information disclosure is mediated by corporate environmental management. Some characteristics of environmental information disclosure are also identified. We present influencing mechanisms from a corporate perspective, which will be useful for top managers and regulators interested in enhancing environmental information disclosure.
