A reduction in skeletal muscle strength is a prognostic indicator of negative consequences, such as physical disability, frailty, and mortality in older adults. Studies investigating associations between the risk of reduction in skeletal muscle strength and the amount of dietary protein which is a factor influenced muscle health are scarce, particularly in Asian populations. Therefore, we investigated the association between the amount and change in daily protein intake and the prospective risk of developing low skeletal muscle strength in middle-aged and older adults.

This study used data from the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study as an ongoing population-based cohort study of adults aged 40 years and over. The amount of daily protein consumed was assessed using a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire. Low skeletal muscle strength was measured with a handgrip strength dynamometer.

In total, 32,458 adults (11,358 males and 21,100 females) were evaluated. The amount of daily dietary protein cnts, are warranted to clarify the relationship between protein intake status and the incidence of low skeletal muscle strength.
Dietary diversity is widely recommended in national and international guidelines; however, whether the beneficial effects on cognitive function still apply in the oldest-old (80+) has rarely been studied. This study aimed to evaluate the associations of dietary diversity with cognitive function among the oldest-old in a large prospective cohort in China.

We conducted a long-term prospective analysis on 11,970 participants aged 80+ (6581 octogenarians, 3730 nonagenarians, and 1659 centenarians). We constructed the baseline dietary diversity score (DDS) based on eight food items of a food frequency questionnaire. Mini-mental state examination (MMSE) was used to classify the participants as having cognitive impairment or not and was also used as a continuous metric. Non-linear associations of DDS with cognitive impairment was evaluated by cox models with penalized splines. Oridonin We used mixed-effect models for longitudinal data with repeated measurements of MMSE (for up to seven time during the follow-up between 1iddle-income countries.
Even after the age of 80, dietary diversity may offer a simple and straightforward mean of identifying and screening individuals at high risk for cognitive impairment. Recommendation of dietary diversity may be advocated to attenuate cognitive decline and decrease the risk of cognitive impairment in the oldest-old, especially in a low income or middle-income countries.Although obesity reflected by BMI can enhance the association of air pollution with increase blood pressures (BP) and prevalent hypertension in susceptible population, there remains lack evidence on interactive effects of different obesity indices and air pollutants on BP and prevalent hypertension in rural adults. 39,259 individuals were recruited from the Henan Rural Cohort. Concentrations of air pollutants (PM1, PM2.5, PM10 and NO2) were evaluated by a spatio-temporal model based on satellites data. Independent associations of air pollutants and obesity reflected by BMI, WC, WHR, WHtR, BFP and VFI on BP indicators (SBP, DBP, MAP and PP) and prevalent hypertension were analyzed by linear regression and logistic regression models, respectively. Furthermore, their additive effects were quantified by RERI, AP and S. Six obesity indices enhanced the associations of four air pollutants and BP indicators. Individuals with high PM1 concentrations plus obesity classified by BMI, WC, WHR, WHtR, BFP and VFI had a 4.18-fold (95% CI 3.86, 4.53), 3.58-fold (95% CI 3.34, 3.84), 3.53-fold (95% CI 3.28, 3.81), 4.02-fold (95% CI 3.72, 4.35), 3.89-fold (95% CI 3.59, 4.23), 3.87-fold (95% CI 3.62, 4.14) increase in prevalent hypertension, respectively, compared to non-obese individuals with low PM1 concentrations; similar results were observed for combined effect of PM2.5, PM10 or NO2 and obesity indices on prevalent hypertension. The significant values of RERI, AP and S indicated additive effects of air pollutants and obesity indices on hypertension. Obesity amplified the effects of exposure to high levels of air pollutants on increased BP values and prevalent hypertension, implying that obese individuals may be susceptible to elevate BP and prevalent hypertension in relation to air pollution exposure. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION The Henan Rural Cohort study has been registered at Chinese Clinical Trial Register (Registration number ChiCTR-OOC-15006699, http//www.chictr.org.cn/showproj.aspx?proj=11375).This paper describes the successful development of new low-immunoreactive buttermilk (BM)-based formulations which were fermented with 31 lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and Bifidobacterium strains. The aim of this study was to create a new formula, which can serve as potential candidates for the immunotherapy of allergy. Preparations were tested for their content of biologically active compounds, such as proteins, peptides, phospholipids, and short-chain fatty acids (SCFA), as well as for the survivability of LAB and sensory quality. The results showed that the BM was a matrix rich in nutritional components and displayed higher than expected susceptibility to the reduction of protein IgE-immunoreactivity (to 98%) and high bacterial-protecting capacity. The overall sensory quality of examined products was influenced by the profile of SCFA and free peptides, but two formulations fermented with Lactobacillus delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricus-151 and Lactobacillus casei-LcY were the most advantageous with desirable sensory, immunoreactive, and biochemical properties. The magnetic molecular imprinting polymers nanoparticles (MMIPs NPs) for the extraction of norfloxacin (NOR) were prepared by self-polymerization of dopamine onto the surface of (3-Aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES)-modified Fe3O4 NPs. The MMIPs NPs were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, XRD, VSM and TEM. The characterization results show that the MMIPs NPs possess superparamagnetic characteristic with the saturated magnetization value of 38.6 emu/g, and the average particle size of about 14.3 nm. Furthermore, the adsorption performance of the MMIPs NPs was evaluated by the static, dynamic, selective adsorption and reusability experiments. The adsorption capacity of MMINs NPs for NOR is 14.2 mg/g with an imprinted factor of 2.1. About 82.4-102.4% of the added NOR (20, 40, 60 μg/mL) were recovered from fortified milk samples with MMIPs NPs as sorbent. Moreover, the MMIPs NPs can be reused for at least six times.
