Skin cancer is a common disease in the tropics, and oncological resection typically requires reconstruction with skin grafts. Fibrin glue, initially established as a haemostatic agent, has been studied extensively as an adhesive for skin grafts in burns. This study aims to investigate the use of fibrin as an adhesive for split skin grafts in skin cancers.
The study design is a prospective randomised controlled trial with the aim of investigating the impact of two different methods of split skin graft fixation. The intervention of fibrin glue will be compared with the control of staples or sutures. Congo Red The trial will be conducted at two sites, a public hospital and a private hospital in Townsville, Australia, over a 24-month period with 334 participants to be recruited. Consecutive patients presenting for skin excisions and grafting will be eligible to participate in this study. Randomisation will be on the level of the patient. The primary outcome is graft take based on wound healing at 1 month. Secondary outcomes will be pain on dressing changes and operative time.
The study has been approved by The Townsville University Hospital Human Research Ethics Committee. Findings will be disseminated in conference presentations and journals and through online electronic media.

Assessing the risk associated with unruptured intracranial aneurysms (IAs) is essential in clinical decision making. Several geometric risk parameters have been proposed for this purpose. However, performance of these parameters has been inconsistent. This study evaluates the performance and robustness of geometric risk parameters on two datasets and compare it to the uncertainty inherent in assessing these parameters and quantifies interparameter correlations.
Two datasets containing 244 ruptured and unruptured IA geometries from 178 patients were retrospectively analysed. IAs were stratified by anatomical region, based on the PHASES score locations. 37 geometric risk parameters representing four groups (size, neck, non-dimensional, and curvature parameters) were assessed. Analysis included standardised absolute group differences (SADs) between ruptured and unruptured IAs, ratios of SAD to median relative uncertainty (MRU) associated with the parameters, and interparameter correlation.
The ratio of SADted in this study may aid in developing and choosing robust geometric parameters for use in rupture risk models.
The use of maternal health services is an important indicator of maternal health and socioeconomic development. Evidence on individual-level and community-level determinants of use of maternal health services in Benishangul Gumuz Region was not well known so far. Hence, this study fills this gap.
A prospective follow-up study SETTING This study was conducted from March 2020 to January 2021 in Northwest Ethiopia.
A total of 2198 pregnant women participated in the study.
A multistage random sampling technique was used to select study subjects. Data were collected via face-to-face interviews using pretested semistructured questionnaires. Collected data were coded, cleaned and analysed using Stata software. Multilevel regression models were applied to determine individual-level and community-level factors of use of maternal health services.
This study found that the proportions of women who visited recommended antenatal care (ANC), received skilled delivery care and postnatal care (PNC) were 66.1%, 58.3f women who attended ANC, received skilled delivery services and PNCs was low. Different individual-level and community-level factors that influenced the use of these services were discovered. Therefore, community-based interventions should target those identified factors to improve maternal health services.

SARS-CoV-2 vaccination is a crucial intervention for infection control; however, the immune response to vaccination in dialysis patients has been reported to be moderate compared with healthy adults. There are few studies available on humoral response in immunised dialysis patients compared with well-matched control group, we conducted a prospective cohort study measuring SARS-CoV-2 antibody titres in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan since September 2021.
We compared the titres of both anti-SARS-CoV-2 S1 IgG and neutralising antibodies of 65 haemodialysis patients (dialysis group) with 500 residents in Soma, Fukushima (control group).
Coarsened exact matching was used to balance sex, age and days from the second dose between dialysis and control groups.
Significant differences in the titres of anti-SARS-CoV-2 S1 IgG and neutralising antibodies were observed between the dialysis and control groups; anti-SARS-CoV-2 S1 IgG 168.35 (4.48-1074.29) AU/mL and 269.81 (4.72-945.96) AU/mL in dialysis and control groups, p=0.02, neutralising antibodies 35.77 (2.94-826.06) AU/mL and 62.22 (0.00-535.57) AU/mL, p=0.007, respectively).

To explore patients' with asplenia and general practitioners' (GPs) (1) perceptions of a novel,
(HAPA)-based, educational intervention which targets to increase adherence to post-splenectomy sepsis (PSS) prevention measures and (2) their experience in implementing prevention measures following this intervention.
A process evaluation conducted on average 3.5 (for patients) and 3.8 (for GPs) months after the intervention between January 2020 and April 2021 individually by means of semi-structured guideline-based telephone interviews. Data was analysed using qualitative content analysis.

Spontaneous hyperventilation (SHV) is common in aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (aSAH). The reduction in arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO
) may change the brain physiology, such as haemodynamics, oxygenation, metabolism and may lead to secondary brain injury. However, how to correct SHV safely and effectively in patients with aSAH has not been well investigated. The aim of this study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of remifentanil dose titration to correct hyperventilation in aSAH, as well as the effect of changes in PaCO
on cerebral blood flow (CBF).
This study is a prospective, single-centre, physiological study in patients with aSAH. The patients who were mechanically ventilated and who meet with SHV (tachypnoea combined with PaCO
<35 mm Hg and pH >7.45) will be enrolled. The remifentanil will be titrated to correct the SHV. The predetermined initial dose of remifentanil is 0.02 μg/kg/min and will be maintained for 30 min, and PaCO
and CBF will be measured. After that, the dose of remifentanil will be sequentially increased to 0.04, 0.06, and 0.08 μg/kg/min, and the measurements for PaCO
and CBF will be repeated 30 min after each dose adjustment and will be compared with their baseline values.

Perianal fistula is a burdening disease with an annual incidence of 6-12/100 000 in Western countries. More than 90% of crypto-glandular fistulas originate from perianal abscess. Despite adequate drainage, up to 83% recur or result in an anal fistula, the majority developing within 12 months. There is some evidence that gut-derived bacteria play a role in the development of perianal fistula. Up till now, it is not common practice to routinely administer prophylactic antibiotics to prevent anal fistula development. There is a need for a study to establish whether adding antibiotic treatment to surgical drainage of perianal abscess results in a reduction in perianal fistulas.
This multicentre, double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled trial investigates whether addition of antibiotics (ciprofloxacin and metronidazole) to surgical drainage of a perianal abscess is beneficial compared with surgical drainage alone. The primary outcome is the development of a perianal fistula within 1 year. Secondary outcomes include quality of life, treatment costs, need for repeated drainage, patient-reported outcomes and other clinical outcomes. Participants are recruited in one academic and seven peripheral Dutch clinics. To demonstrate a reduction of perianal fistula from 30% to 15% when treated with adjuvant antibiotics with a two-sided alpha of 0.05, a power of 80% and taking a 10% loss to follow-up percentage into account, the total sample size will be 298 participants. Data will be analysed according to the intention-to-treat principle.
The study protocol has been approved by the Medical Ethics Review Committee of the Amsterdam University Medical Centers (nr. 2021_010). Written consent is obtained from each participant prior to randomisation into the study. The results of this trial will be submitted for publication in international peer-reviewed journals, presented at conferences and spread to coloproctological associations.

The Western Ontario and McMaster University osteoarthritis index (WOMAC) is the most commonly used indicator of disease-specific outcome in knee osteoarthritis for its convenience and reliability. It has two formats the paper-based WOMAC (p-WOMAC) and the electronic WOMAC (e-WOMAC). In China, the p-WOMAC has been widely used though e-WOMAC is yet untested. This study aims to test whether e-WOMAC is consistent with the p-WOMAC before and after the intervention.
A total of 70 patients from Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine will be randomly assigned in two groups, named, group A and group B. This study is divided into three stages. In the first stage, patients in group A will be evaluated first by p-WOMAC and then by e-WOMAC. Patients in group B will be evaluated by e-WOMAC and then by p-WOMAC. In the second stage of the study, drug interventions will be implemented. 200 mg celecoxib will be administered orally once a day starting from the second day of enrolment for a period of 21 days.
