Carcinoma Cervix Ultimately causing Ichthyosis Uteri: A hard-to-find Circumstance Report.
This study was performed to investigate medium-term outcomes and reoperation rates after laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy (LSC). We examined 119 patients undergoing LSC for symptomatic pelvic organ prolapse (POP). The primary outcomes were subjective failure and anatomical failure at 2 years; a score ≥ 2 on question 3 of the PFDI-20 was considered to indicate subjective failure. POP-Q stage 2 or higher in any compartment was considered to indicate anatomical failure. Secondary outcomes were reoperations for POP recurrence, mesh-related complications, and stress urinary incontinence (SUI). The rates of subjective failure and anatomical failure were 4.2% (n = 5) and 9.2% (n = 11), respectively. Reoperations were needed in 13.4% (n = 16) of patients, including SUI with tape procedure in 7.5% (n = 9), POP recurrence in 4.2% (n = 5), and mesh-related complications in 1.6% (n = 2). The subjective failure rate at 2 years after LSC was acceptably low.Impact StatementWhat is already known on this subject? Laparoscopic sacrf anatomical outcomes and the patient's condition is required to understand the extent to which LSC positively impacts a woman's pelvic floor-related quality of life.Phedimus aizoon is native to east Asian countries that including China, Siberia, Korea, Mongolia, and Japan. In China, the plant is highly valued for use in folk medicine, for detoxification and analgesia, blood pressure, hemostasis, and used as an ornamental. In August 2021, a leaf spot and blight disease were observed on P. aizoon in a 120-ha field in Pizhou, Jiangsu Province, China where disease incidence reached 90%, and almost every leaf was withered. Early symptoms appeared as dark brown lesions on leaf margins that enlarged and coalesced to form large necrotic areas. In efforts to determine the cause of the disease, ten symptomatic leaves were randomly collected from ten different plants at the site. Diseased leaf pieces that measured 5 mm2 were disinfected in 75% ethyl alcohol for 30 s and 7% NaOCl for 60 s, rinsed three times in sterile distilled water, and placed on potato dextrose agar (PDA). Ten fungal isolates obtained by single-spore isolations were selected for further study. These isolates pros. A. alternata was reisolated and identified based on morphological and molecular traits, thus fulfilling Koch's postulates. To our knowledge, this is the first report of A. alternata causing leaf blight on P. aizoon in China and worldwide. Based on the plant's medicinal value, further studies should be directed toward control of this disease. In Nov 2011, and then recurrently since Sep 2020, an extensive decline has been recorded in boxwood (Buxus sempervirens), sometimes with several dozens of damaged individuals planted in private gardens and public areas and purchased in amateur markets in the Czech Republic. The leaves of the plants first showed orange-bronze discoloration, then dried and fell off, and the affected plants died. The roots, collars and stems of these plants had dark brown to black necrotic lesions. Phytophthora occultans Man in 't Veld & K. Rosend. was consistently isolated on selective medium PARPNH (Jung et al. 1996) directly from segments of symptomatic collar tissues and from rhododendron leaf pieces used to bait excised roots. On 20% V8 agar (V8A) and on carrot agar (CA), colonies had a stellate pattern. Radial growth at 25°C was 9.4 mm/day on V8A and 5.3 mm/day on CA. The cardinal growth temperatures were min. 7°C, optimum 25 to 27°C, and max. 32°C. The isolates were homothallic and produced on CA colorless globose oogoniano. 1158.20, 1176.21, 1261.22) with three 5-mm-diam. V8A mycelial plugs by inserting into the substrate near the collar. Control plants were treated with sterile agar plugs. All plants were kept in a greenhouse at 25°C and exposed to 24 h of flooding up to collar once a week. All inoculated plants showed wilting, collar lesions and root rot occurred after 21 days, while control plants remained healthy. The pathogen was reisolated from infected plants and confirmed by molecular identification. P. occultans was found for the first time in 1998 on Buxus sempervirens in the Netherlands and later in Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany and Romania (Man in´t Veld et al. 2015, Nechwatal et al. 2014), as well as in the USA (Reeser et al. 2015, Gitto et al. 2018). This is the first report of P. occultans in the Czech Republic. This pathogen likely poses another significant threat to boxwood cultivation in addition to the previously invaded Cydalima perspectalis and Calonectria pseudonaviculata.Cotton leafroll dwarf virus (genus Polerovirus, family Solemoviridae) has been commonly reported affecting cotton plants (Gossypium spp., family Malvaceae) and several weed species (Ramos-Sobrinho et al., 2021; Sedhain et al., 2021). During a recent survey, cacao (Theobroma cacao L.) trees exhibiting virus-like symptoms such as leaf mosaic, vein clearing, and yellow spot were observed in the south part of the state of Bahia, northeastern Brazil, in 2022. Leaf samples were randomly collected from symptomatic cacao plants (n=30) growing in an affected area of approximately 30 ha. Total RNA obtained from pooled cacao samples were subjected to Illumina HiSeq 2500 sequencing as previously described (Keith et al., 2021), and partial sequences of cotton leafroll dwarf virus (CLRDV), and other virus-specific sequence contigs, were de novo assembled according to Ramos-Sobrinho et al. (2021). To further investigate the presence of CLRDV in cacao leaves, total RNA was individually extracted using a modified silica prototity, while the aa sequences shared 85.8-88.5 and 86.2-90.0% similarity, with CLRDV isolates previously reported in South America and the USA, respectively. Finally, the ~3.5kb nt sequences of cacao-infecting CLRDV isolates shared 92.9-95.8% identity with CLRDV genomes deposited in NCBI-GenBank. The Bayesian phylogenetic tree reconstructed based on ORF0 nt sequences showed the new sequences were more closely related to CLRDV-atypical isolates (GenBank accession nos. KF359946, KF359947, KF906260, and KF906261). Together, these results suggest the new ORF0 sequences belong to CLRDV and were deposited in GenBank under accession nos. ON954058-ON954059. To our knowledge, this is the first report of CLRDV infecting cacao plants, expanding the range of malvaceous hosts of this polerovirus. CLRDV is largely known for causing yield losses in cotton crops, but additional studies are needed to determine if CLRDV infection is detrimental to cacao production.Navel orange (Citrus sinensis Osbeck cv. Newhall) is widely planted in southern China. From September to November 2021, severe outbreaks of Phytophthora brown rot were observed on navel orange fruit in three local orchards in Ganzhou City (28.80N, 115.53E), Jiangxi Province, China, with a disease incidence of 25 to 35%. Symptomatic fruit was mostly observed 1-m from the ground. Initial symptoms on infected fruit were circular, pale-brown to brown, water-soaked, slightly sunken lesions, covered with sparse white mycelia-like growth. As the disease progressed, the lesions turned dark brown and enlarged on the fruit surface. Three to four infected fruits were randomly collected from each orchard, placed in transparent plastic bags and immediately brought back to the laboratory for isolations. Infected fruits were surface-disinfested with 70% ethanol for 60 sec, and rinsed three times with sterile water. Symptomatic tissues from the margin between necrotic and healthy tissues were cut into 5 mm × 5 mm pieces, plaincubated at 25℃ with 80% relative humidity and the test was repeated three times. After 7 days of incubation, the fruit inoculated with P. nicotianae showed similar brown rot symptoms and the control fruit remained symptomless. The pathogen was re-isolated from all inoculated fruits and confirmed as P. nicotianae by morphological and molecular analysis. Phytophthora nicotianae was previously reported on Hamlin sweet orange (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck) fruit causing Phytophthora brown rot in Florida (Graham and Timmer 1995; Hao et al. 2018). To our knowledge, this is the first report of P. nicotianae causing Phytophthora brown rot of navel orange fruit in China. Based on the severity of this disease, local growers should develop and implement integrated disease management strategies for control.Malignant syphilis (MS) is a rare, atypical manifestation of secondary syphilis. Ulcerative lesions should be suspected as MS when found with supporting microscopic morphology, a high syphilis serology titer test, a Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction (JHR), and rapid disease resolution. To date, there is no specific recommendation for treatment for MS. A 24-year-old HIV-positive MSM patient with a CD4 count of 470 cells/µl presented with a chief complaint of necrotic, ulcerative lesions and oyster shell-like surface plaques on his face, trunk, groin, and extremities. The patient also developed various typical presentations of secondary syphilis. Dark-field microscopy revealed spirochetes. Histopathological examination showed spongiotic dermatitis with many neutrophil cells in the dermis, together with endarteritis and fibrin micro-thrombus in the blood vessels. The patient had a high venereal disease research laboratory (VDRL) titer of 1512. There was rapid disease resolution following a single injection of 2,400,000-unit benzathine penicillin G (BPG); together with anti-retroviral therapy, this was supportive treatment for MS. JHR was not observed in this study and many other reports. This case showed that ulcerative lesions with an oyster shell-like surface presenting in HIV-positive patients along with supporting microscopic morphology, high VDRL titer, and a dramatic improvement after antibiotic treatment is highly suggestive of MS. JHR may no longer be a characteristic of MS. A single dose of 2,400,000-unit BPG is sufficient for MS treatment.
The relationship between Cystatin-C levels and inflammatory, oxidant, and antioxidant markers in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) was investigated.

A total of 96 participants were included in the study as PCOS (n=58) and control (n=38) groups. Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1B), interleukin 6 (IL-6), malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and Cystatin-C were evaluated by ELISA method. Relationships metabolic and endocrine parameters seen in PCOS were examined. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyzes were performed to identify risk factors that may affect the PCOS group. Bivariate correlations were investigated by the Spearman's correlation analysis.

While Cystatin-c, TNF-α, IL-1B, IL-6, MDA were found to be higher in patients with PCOS compared with the control group, SOD was found to be lower than the control group (p<0.05). NVP-ADW742 In the correlation analysis, increased Cystatin-C levels were found to be associated with high IL-6 (r=0.214, p=0.037) and low SOD levels (r=-0.280, p=0.006).

In our study, it was found that the increase in Cystatin-C levels was associated with an increase in IL-6 and a decrease in SOD. These results may bring up different treatment options to reduce cardiovascular risks for treating PCOS.
