The difference was independently maintained even after adjusting for differences in social backgrounds in male patients (adjusted hazard ratio (HR) 2.02; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.07-3.70). In female patients, the HR for rehospitalization for HF showed no difference between the two groups (adjusted HR, 0.99; 95% CI, 0.56-1.69).In this study population, male patients living alone after first AHF discharge had a higher risk of rehospitalization for HF than those not living alone, but these differences were not observed in female patients.
The purpose of this research was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the TeamSTEPPS Teamwork Perception Questionnaire (T-TPQ) among the Chinese residents.

Cross-sectional study.

A clinical hospital of the China Medical University in Liaoning Province, China.

A total of 664 residents were enrolled in this research. The valid response rate was 83.0% (664 of 800 residents).

Internal consistency and test-retest reliability were used to assess the reliability of the questionnaire. The construct validity of the Chinese T-TPQ was evaluated by confirmatory factor analysis. Furthermore, the concurrent, convergent and discriminant validity were analysed.

Cronbach's α coefficient of the T-TPQ in Chinese language was 0.923. Except for the communication dimension (0.649), the Cronbach's α coefficient of all dimensions were satisfactory. The T-TPQ and its five dimensions reported a good test-retest reliability (0.740-0.881, p<0.01). Moreover, the results of the confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated that the construct validity of the Chinese T-TPQ was satisfactory. All dimensions significantly correlated with the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture (HSOPSC) teamwork within units dimension and the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire (SAQ) teamwork climate dimension (p<0.01), and the questionnaire showed satisfactory convergent and discriminant validity.

The T-TPQ in Chinese language demonstrated good psychometric characteristics and was a reliable and valid questionnaire to measure the Chinese health professionals' perception of teamwork. Thus, the Chinese version of the T-TPQ could be applied in teamwork training programmes and medical education research.

Although medication reconciliation (MedRec) is effective in decreasing medication discrepancies, the effectiveness on Adverse Events (AEs) is very scarce. The objective of this study was to assess the effect of MedRec by a pharmacy team on patient-reported, potential AEs post-discharge.

This was a multicenter prospective intervention study with before-after design at two Dutch hospitals. Participants were patients aged ≥18 years admitted for more than 48h using three or more prescription medications upon discharge. Patients in the control group received usual care. In the intervention period, a trained team of pharmacy staff executed medication reconciliation consisting of patient education upon admission and discharge, review of prescribed medication to identify errors, and information transfer to primary care. To address the primary outcome, the difference in proportion of patients with one or more potential AEs was measured by a structured telephone interview, two weeks after discharge between usual caAEs after hospital discharge between the intervention and usual care group was observed.
Although the intervention did not decrease the proportion of patients with AEs, a significant reduction in the median number of potential AEs after hospital discharge between the intervention and usual care group was observed.
Observational instruments are preferred for assessment of cultural competence. The aim of the current study is to identify observational instruments to assess cultural competence in healthcare providers and dieticians specifically and assess their psychometric properties.

A systematic review was conducted in Cinahl, Cochrane, EMBASE, PsycInfo, Pubmed, and Web of Science using search terms related to cultural competency and measurement properties. Methodological quality of the selected studies of observational cultural competence instruments in dieticians, other healthcare professionals and psychological counsellors and the measurement properties of instruments were assessed using the COSMIN checklist.

From 11,913 articles, six articles on five instruments were selected. Instruments were targeted at health professionals and counsellors only, and designed for face-to-face communication (n = 4) or verbal responses to videotaped simulated interactions (n = 1). The instruments' content varied largely, with main focus on attitude, and little on knowledge and skills. The measurement properties were suboptimal.

No observational instrument are available to evaluate cultural competence of dieticians. Studies on psychometric properties of instruments targeted at other health professionals lack methodological rigour.

Future work should focus on developing an instrument that encompasses both 'general' cultural competences necessary for all healthcare professionals and dietetic specific competences.

Oprozomib There is an urgent need to develop new antimicrobial agents with diverse chemical structures and novel mechanisms of action to overcome the resistance. In recent years, Quinazoline-benzimidazole hybrids have emerged as a new class of antimicrobial agents active against S. aureus and M. tuberculosis. In the current study, we designed and synthesized fifteen new Quinazoline-benzimidazole hybrids and evaluated them for their antimicrobial activity against S. aureus ATCC 29213 and M. tuberculosis H37Rv. These studies led to the identification of nine potent antibacterial agents 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 8f, 8g, 8h, 8i and 10c with MICs in the range of 4-64 μg/mL. Further, these selected compounds were found to possess potent antibacterial potential against a panel of drug-resistant clinical isolates which include methicillin and vancomycin-resistant S. aureus. The selected compounds were found to be less toxic to Vero cells (CC50 = 40-≥200 μg/mL) and demonstrated a favourable selectivity index.
