Main fears towards vaccination were related to vaccine safety and potential adverse effects on child's health. Women reported feeling hesitant to participate in a ZIKV vaccine trial. These results may contribute to guiding the effective delivery of future ZIKV vaccines among populations most at risk and particularly vulnerable.Tm3+ has obvious emission characteristics in the near-infrared band. Thulium ions combined with different organic ligands lead to different fluorescent properties. In the near-infrared region, Tm3+ is a down-conversion fluorescent material that is unstable under high temperature and acidic conditions. Moreover, in those complex environments, the fluorescence from Tm3+ complex is usually degraded. In this work, two kinds of near-infrared fluorescent complexes, Tm(TTA)3phen and Tm(DBM)3phen, were prepared, and the intensity of their fluorescence is compared. The fluorescence intensity at 802 nm is greatly improved compared with Tm(TTA)3phen, and the intensity of the emission at 1235 nm and 1400-1500 nm is also enhanced. Moreover, the emission lifetime of SiO2-Tm(TTA)3phen is 50.38 μs. Tm(TTA)3phen complex and SiO2-Tm(TTA)3phen hybrid materials have better fluorescence than Tm(DBM)3phen and SiO2-Tm(DBM)3phen. Therefore, HTTA is a better choice of organic ligands for Tm3+. The NIR-fluorescent hybrid materials prepared have stronger fluorescence after combining with nano-SiO2compared with pure Tm3+ complexes, and have stronger structural stability compared with pure nano-SiO2.The fruit of Caryocar brasiliense Cambess. is a source of oil with active compounds that are protective to the organism. In our work, we analyzed the physicochemical characteristics and evaluated the effects of supplementation with C. brasiliense oil in an animal model. We characterized the oil by indices of quality and identity, optical techniques of absorption spectroscopy in the UV-Vis region and fluorescence, and thermogravimetry/derived thermogravimetry (TG/DTG). For the animal experiment, we utilized mice (Mus musculus) supplemented with lipidic source in different dosages. The results demonstrated that C. brasiliense oil is an alternative source for human consumption and presents excellent oxidative stability. Primarily, it exhibited oleic MFA (53.56%) and palmitic SFA (37.78%). The oil level of tocopherols and tocotrienols was superior to the carotenoids. The supplementation with C. brasiliense oil reduced the levels of total cholesterol, LDL-c, and non-HDL-c. Regarding visceral fats and adiposity index, the treatment synergically supplemented with olive oil and C. brasiliense oil (OO + CO) obtained the best result. Therefore, C. brasiliense oil is a high quality product for consumption. Its supplementation promotes beneficial effects mainly on the lipidic profile. The gut is a complex organ that has played an important role in digestion, absorption, endocrine functions, and immunity. The gut mucosal barriers consist of the immunologic barrier and nonimmunologic barrier. During critical illnesses, the gut is susceptible to injury due to the induction of intestinal hyperpermeability. Gut hyperpermeability and barrier dysfunction may lead to systemic inflammatory response syndrome. Additionally, gut microbiota are altered during critical illnesses. The etiology of such microbiome alterations in critical illnesses is multifactorial. The interaction or systemic host defense modulation between distant organs and the gut microbiome is increasingly studied in disease research. No treatment modality exists to significantly enhance the gut epithelial integrity, permeability, or mucus layer in critically ill patients. However, multiple helpful approaches including clinical and preclinical strategies exist. Enteral nutrition is associated with an increased mucosal barrier in animal and human studies. The trophic effects of enteral nutrition might help to maintain the intestinal physiology, prevent atrophy of gut villi, reduce intestinal permeability, and protect against ischemia-reperfusion injury. The microbiome approach such as the use of probiotics, fecal microbial transplantation, and selective decontamination of the digestive tract has been suggested. BMN 673 clinical trial However, its evidence does not have a high quality. To promote rapid hypertrophy of the small bowel, various factors have been reported, including the epidermal growth factor, membrane permeant inhibitor of myosin light chain kinase, mucus surrogate, pharmacologic vagus nerve agonist, immune-enhancing diet, and glucagon-like peptide-2 as preclinical strategies. However, the evidence remains unclear.Imperforate anus is an anomaly caused by a defect in the development of the hindgut during early pregnancy. It is a relatively common congenital malformation and is more common in males. Although there are cases of a solitary imperforate anus, the condition is more commonly found as a part of a wider spectrum of other congenital anomalies. Although urgent reconstructive anorectal surgery is not necessary, immediate evaluation is important and urgent decompressive surgery may be required. Moreover, as there are often other anomalies that can affect management, prenatal diagnosis can help in optimizing perinatal care and prepare parents through prenatal counseling. In the past, imperforate anus was diagnosed by prenatal ultrasonography based on indirect signs such as bowel dilatation or intraluminal calcified meconium. Currently, it is diagnosed by directly checking the perineum with prenatal ultrasonography. Despite advances in ultrasound technology, accurate prenatal diagnosis is impossible in most cases and imperforate anus is detected after birth. Here, we present two cases of imperforate anus in female fetuses that were not diagnosed prenatally.A small proportion of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients show resistance to induction chemotherapy (IC). This study sought to investigate the impact of tumor volume enlargement after IC on the dosimetric parameters of subsequent radiotherapy. The records of a total of 240 locally advanced NPC patients who received IC followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy were retrospectively reviewed. Patients with a tumor volume enlargement of ≥10% and patients with a tumor volume reduction of ≥10% after induction chemotherapy were classified as the enlargement group and the control group, respectively. The dosimetric parameters of the planning target volumes (PTVs) and the organs at risk (OARs) were compared between the matched groups after propensity score matching (PSM). For the gross tumor volume of nasopharynx (GTVnx), 21 patients and 127 patients were classified as the enlargement group and the control group, respectively. After matching, 20 sub-pairs of 40 patients were generated in the post-PSM cohort. The GTVnx enlargement group exhibited no significant disadvantages in all of the dosimetric parameters, except in the planning organ-at-risk volume (PRV) of contralateral lens (Dmax, 722 cGy vs.
