Objective This study assessed past-year dental visits among older Mexican adults from the Mexican Health and Aging Study (MHAS). MHAS is a nationally representative cohort study of adults 50 years and older from Mexico. Methods Baseline data from 2001 were compared with 2012 data. Binary logistic regression identified significant predictors of past-year dental visits. Decomposition techniques examined factors that contributed to changes in dental visits between 2001 and 2012. Results Education and insurance status were positively associated with past-year dental visits, while decomposition results showed that population composition (more adults receiving insurance and higher education over time) contributed to the increased prevalence of dental visits between 2001 and 2012. Discussion Education and insurance are critical factors that govern access to oral healthcare. After the provision of universal dental coverage by Mexico's Seguro Popular in 2003, our results may reflect promising effects of such programs, which can inform future policies in Mexico and other settings.
The long-term mental and physical health consequences of childhood maltreatment have been well documented. Less known are the longer-term consequences of childhood maltreatment, specifically the extent to which childhood maltreatment predicts adult life success.

To prospectively assess the extent to which childhood experiences of physical, sexual, emotional abuse and childhood neglect predict life success at 30years of age.

Data are from the Mater-University of Queensland Study of Pregnancy (MUSP), a pre-birth cohort study which follows children from conception to 30years of age.

Details of childhood maltreatment are from two sources; child safety agency notifications (and substantiations) linked to the survey data with self-reports of childhood experiences of maltreatment obtained at the 30-year follow-up using the Child Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ). Life success is a 9-item composite measure (alpha = 0.76) obtained at the 30-year follow-up. We use logistic regression models (with control for covariates) to examine the association between overall as well as specific forms of childhood maltreatment on adult life success. We further test these models using different cut-offs and propensity analyses to adjust for loss to follow-up.

Childhood maltreatment whether measured by agency report or self-report predicts overall low life success; agency substantiation OR = 1.88(1.14,3.08) & self-report OR = 2.60 (2.10,3.25). Self-report physical abuse, OR = 2.37(1.72,3.28); sexual abuse, OR = 2.85(2.05,3.96); emotional abuse, OR = 2.53(1.85,3.45) and neglect, OR = 2.36(1.83,3.03) all predict higher levels of low life success.

Our findings suggest that the long-term consequences of childhood maltreatment extend to a wide range of day-to-day circumstances and extend into mid- to later life.

This post hoc analysis evaluated gastrointestinal adverse events of interest (AEOIs; diarrhea, nausea, abdominal discomfort, flatulence [MedDRAv21]) through Wk96 among patients enrolled in the phase 3 AMBER (treatment-naïve) and EMERALD (virologically suppressed) studies of darunavir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (D/C/F/TAF) 800/150/200/10 mg. 362 and 763 patients initiated D/C/F/TAF in AMBER and EMERALD, respectively. All D/C/F/TAF-related gastrointestinal AEOIs were grade 1/2 in severity; none were serious. Across studies, incidence of D/C/F/TAF-related diarrhea and nausea were each ≤5% in Wk1 (≤1% post-Wk2); prevalence of each decreased to less then 5% post-Wk2. In each study, there was 1 case of D/C/F/TAF-related abdominal discomfort during Wk1 and none thereafter. Incidence of D/C/F/TAF-related flatulence was less then 1% throughout. Median duration of D/C/F/TAF-related gastrointestinal AEOIs was 16.5 (AMBER) and 8.5 (EMERALD) days. In conclusion, in treatment-naïve and virologically suppressed patients, incidences and prevalences of D/C/F/TAF-related gastrointestinal AEOIs were low and tended to present early.

PD-L1 and PD-L2, and tumor protein p53 (p53) were examined in 20 uterine adenosarcoma cases, and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and tumor-associated macrophages were counted in tumor tissue using immunohistochemistry. While CPS PD-L1 positivity with 1% and 10% cut-off values was observed in 40% and 10% of tumors, respectively, CPS PD-L2 positivity with 1%, 10% and 50% cut-off values was observed in 100%, 85% and 50% of the tumors, respectively. The CPS PD-L2 positivity with a 50% cut-off value was positively correlated with tumor grade and the presence of sarcomatous overgrowth and lymphovascular invasion (LVI) (p = 0.025, p = 0.025, and p = 0.025, respectively). Nine of 11 high-grade adenosarcomas and none of the low-grade adenosarcomas showed mutant type p53 expression (p = 0.000). However, PD-L1 expression and tumor-infiltrating immune cells did not correlate with clinicopathological parameters. Legal system disclosure is more common than formal system disclosure yet remains understudied leaving unanswered questions about the nature of those who choose to disclose and factors that influence their disclosure decision. Guided by communication privacy management theory and Johnson's typology of domestic violence (DV), this study addressed gaps in the CEDV literature through a theoretical thematic analysis of the DV exposure and legal system disclosure experiences of 25 young adults exposed to father-mother-perpetrated DV during their childhood. Findings from this study show that half of the participants had no legal system disclosure (n = 12; nondisclosers) and half had at least some legal system disclosure (n = 13; disclosers). Varying types of violence exposure and levels of exposure were factors that impacted youths' decisions to disclose to legal systems. Escalation of violence was a key factor that drove legal system disclosure, but other factors including how the young adults and their communities perceived their fathers, the match between the youth's goals for disclosure and the outcomes upon disclosing, along with family privacy norms and family boundaries were influential in guiding decision making over time. This study has implications for practitioners working with DV-exposed youth, as our findings unpack the conditions under which youth choose to (not) disclose, the factors influencing these decisions, and how the responses and reactions from legal support systems inform future disclosure decisions.Desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT) is a rare malignant tumor that occurs mainly in the retroperitoneum of children and young adults. In its prototypical form, DSCRT displays characteristic morphology with nested primitive small round cells in a desmoplastic stroma and a distinctive immunophenotype with polyphenotypic differentiation. However, DSCRT can also exhibit a broader clinical, histologic and immunohistochemical spectrum and, therefore, cause diagnostic difficulties. Given that DSCRT is an aggressive and nearly universally fatal disease, making the correct diagnosis is critically important. Herein, we report three patients with DSRCT and unusual clinical, morphologic or immunohistochemical characteristics, in order to highlight its remarkable diversity and increase awareness of this unusual, distinctive neoplasm.

It first delineates the shift in both explanatory models of psychoneuroses and patient population in post-World War II Taiwan. Neurasthenia became a focus of international attention in the 1970s and 1980s with the advance of cultural psychiatry, and, as China was closed to the outside world, Taiwanese psychiatrists were influential in framing the cultural meaning of neurasthenia. With the rise of post-socialist China, Taiwan lost its status as a key laboratory of Chinese studies. This paper argues that the history of neurasthenia during the period was closely associated with the professional development and national identity of Taiwanese psychiatrists.
