ntries.Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a form of Dementia known to diminish the brain's function by perturbating its structural and functional components. Though cholinesterase inhibitors are widely used to treat AD, they are limited by numbers and side effects. Hence, present study aims to identify structurally diverse Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory plant secondary metabolites (PSM) by employing high throughput screening and computational studies. AChE inhibitory activity was performed using 390 crude extracts from 63 plant parts belongs to 58 plants. The lowest IC50 value was recorded by acetone extract of Cyperus rotundus rhizome at 0.5 mg/ml, followed by methanol extract of Terminalia arjuna bark (0.95 mg/ml) and water extract Acacia catechu stem (0.95 mg/ml). A virtual library containing 487 PSM belongs to 18 plants found positive for AChE inhibition (IC50≤5 mg/ml) was prepared. Through ADMET analysis, 78 PSM fulfilling selected drug-likeness parameters were selected for further analysis. Molecular docking studies of selected PSM against AChE recorded a wide range of binding energy from -3.40 to -10.90 Kcal/mol. Further molecular dynamics simulation studies also recorded stabilized interactions of AChE-ligand complexes in the term of RMSD, RMSF, Rg, SASA, and hydrogen bond interaction. MMPBSA analysis revealed the binding energy of selected PSM ranging from -123.757 to -261.697 kJ/mol. Our study demonstrated the potential of 12 PSM (Sugiol, Margolone, 7-Hydroxy-3',4'-(Methylenedioxy) flavan, Beta-cyprone, Ethenone, Isomargolonone, Serpentine, Cryptolepine, Rotundone, Strictamin, Rotundenol and Nootkatone) as AChE inhibitors. Further in vitro and in vivo experimental evaluations with pure PSM could be beneficial for therapeutic uses. Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Sarma.
The COVID-19 pandemic may contribute to heightened anxiety among older adults with chronic conditions, which might be attenuated by social resources. This study examined how social contact and emotional support were linked to anxiety symptoms among adults aged 50 and older with chronic conditions, and whether these links varied by age.

Participants included 705 adults (
= 64.61years,
= 8.85, range= 50- 94) from Michigan (82.4%) and 33 other U.S. states who reported at least one chronic condition and completed an anonymous online survey between May 14 and July 9, 2020.

Multiple regression models revealed among younger people, those reporting more frequent social contact had significantly lower anxiety symptoms. Emotional support was not significantly associated with anxiety symptoms.

These two different perceptions are called growth and fixed mindsets, respectively. Previous research has shown that students with growth mindsets embrace challenges, strive for mastery, have better psychological well-being, and are more resilient than students with fixed mindsets. Mindset is contagious, and teachers' mindsets can influence students' mindsets, motivation, and feedback-seeking behaviors. This is the first study of the veterinary educator mindset. Previous research has shown that mindset can vary by subject or personal attributes, called domains. This study investigated mindset in four domains intelligence, clinical reasoning, compassion, and morality. A survey was developed by combining two previously published mindset scales and was distributed electronically to the veterinary teaching faculty at St. George's University, Grenada. The survey participants (n = 38, response rate 56%) showed predominantly growth mindsets, with some variation by domain for intelligence, 84.2% growth, 5.3% intermediate, 10.5% fixed mindset; for clinical reasoning, 92.1% growth, 5.3% intermediate, 2.6% fixed mindset; for compassion, 63.2% growth, 2.6% intermediate, 34.2% fixed; and for morality, 60.5% growth, 13.2% intermediate, and 26.3% fixed mindset. Fifteen participants (39.5%) had fixed mindsets in one or more domains. Twenty participants (52.6%) had growth mindsets in all four domains. There were no associations found between demographic variables and mindset. This study found that most of the veterinary teaching faculty at this university had growth mindsets in all domains investigated.The disclosure of child sexual abuse (CSA) is a complex process that remains partially understood, despite its crucial role in survivors' recovery. Gender specific experiences of disclosure have been little investigated while this information is crucial to better tailor interventions for survivors. This qualitative study aims to 1) explore survivors' experiences in disclosing to close ones, and 2) contrast experiences of male and female survivors. Fifty-one CSA survivors (25 women and 26 men) aged 18 years or older were recruited via community services for survivors. Two main categories emerged from thematic content analysis 1) experiences of disclosure hindering CSA recovery or 2) ones fostering CSA recovery. Men felt ignored when their close ones were focused on their own emotions of indifference, helplessness and guilt toward CSA. Men felt guilty when confronted with reactions of blame for their own inaction or disempowered when pressured to remain silent or to forgive. Women felt ignored when their close ones showed anger toward their perpetrator. Women felt guilty when they were held accountable for CSA events or disempowered when pressured to take legal actions. Women, but not men, reported feeling considered through caring and heart-to-heart discussions. Recommendations for awareness messages and practitioners are discussed.Glutathione s-transferase (GST) is a class of enzymes that performs a wide array of biological functions. However, GST enzymes are most famously known for their roles in catalyzing the conjugation of reduced glutathione (GSH) to electrophilic centers on a wide variety of substrates to induce water-solubility to compounds as a protective antioxidant mechanism against toxic substances. In the present study, in vitro inhibition effects of coumarin, ascorbic acid, sodium sulfide, sodium azide, citric acid compounds, and Cd2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Mg2+ metal ions against GST enzyme were determined. For this aim, the GST enzyme was purified from Vaccinium arctostapylous L. using the glutathione-agarose affinity chromatography and Sephadex G-100 gel filtration steps. The respective metals and chemical compounds were used at different concentrations for measuring their in vitro GST activity effects. The Ki values of these agents were determined as 0.450 ± 0.13, 15.05 ± 7.05, 0.009 ± 0.001, 0.022 ± 0.006, 0.120 ± 0.36, 0.150 ± 0.06, 0.223 ± 0.03, 0.002 ± 0.0003, and 0.136 ± 0.06 mM, respectively. Recently, the concept of 'immunometabolism' has attracted significant attention. Immune cells produce large amounts of energy in the form of ATP and biosynthesize biological components such as nucleic acids and lipids via metabolic reprogramming to activate, differentiate, and exert their functions.

While the mechanisms underlying the metabolism of CD4
T cells in SLE have been extensively studied, the metabolic changes underlying B cell activation, differentiation, and function remain unclear. Drugs targeting mTOR and AMPK, such as sirolimus, rapamycin, and metformin, have shown some efficacy and tolerability in clinical trials on patients with SLE, but have not led to breakthroughs. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge on the immunometabolic mechanisms involved in SLE and RA and discuss the potential novel therapeutic drugs.

Results Stakeholders are an aging services organization in western NY (Lifespan) which served community-dwelling older adults, and a Veteran's Dementia Care Neighborhood (nursing home) that served 14 older Veterans. Project activities both sites used commercially available robotic pets, with setting-specific deployment procedures. Outputs 289 pets were distributed by Lifespan; nine Veterans selected pets and four engaged more actively. Community-dwelling older adults reported high satisfaction; satisfaction with the program in Veterans is evidenced by ongoing engagement via staff observation.Conclusions Procedures used by our programs may be useful for agencies and care programs interested in implementing robotic pet programs for community-dwelling older adults and those residing in long-term care.Clinical Implications Robotic pets were sought by individuals and care providers in community and long-term care settings to provide companionship for older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic and may be of benefit to older adults.
Studies on the association of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) levels with hospital discharge disposition after stroke are limited with inconsistent results. This study investigated the odds of home discharge with eGFR levels at admission for patients with stroke using the Taiwan Stroke Registry (TSR) data.

From the TSR database, a total of 51,338 stroke patients from 2006 to 2015 were categorized into five groups based on eGFR levels at admission. The proportion of home discharge by the eGFR levels was calculated and logistic regression analysis was used to estimate the related odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval.

Near 85% of stroke patients were discharged to home. The proportion of home discharges decreased as the eGFR level declined. Compared to patients with eGFR ≥90 mL/min/1.73 m
, the adjusted ORs of home discharge were 0.91, 0.85, 0.63, 0.56 for patients with eGFR 60-89, eGFR 30-59, eGFR 15-29, and eGFR < 15 mL/min/1.73 m
