Individual changes in resting heart rate variability (HRV) parameters were assessed in seven Polish cyclists during a training process consisting of a six-week period (P1) of predominantly low- and moderate-intensity training (L-MIT) and a six-week period (P2) where the proportion of high-intensity interval training (HIT) increased. Daily recorded HRV parameters included high-frequency spectral power (HF), square root of the mean squared difference between successive normal-to-normal RR intervals (RMSSD), and standard deviation of normal-to-normal RR intervals (SDNN). In each training microcycle, the average values of HFav, RMSSDav, and SDNNav were calculated individually for each participant. In three cyclists, HF was higher in P2 compared to P1, whereas in one cyclist, HF was higher in P1 than in P2. Each of these four cyclists presented an individual correlation between the average daily duration HIT effort in training microcycles (HITav) and HFav. Cyclists with low baseline values of HRV parameters showed increased activity of the parasympathetic nervous system, while in the cyclist with high baseline values of HRV parameters, an opposite change was observed. In conclusion, changes in resting HRV parameters between period P1 and P2 can be individualised. In the investigated group, it was possible to predict how HRV would change as a result of training intensification on the basis of HRV baseline values.Osteoporosis is treatable but often overlooked in clinical practice. We aimed to construct prediction models with machine learning algorithms to serve as screening tools for osteoporosis in adults over fifty years old. Additionally, we also compared the performance of newly developed models with traditional prediction models. Data were acquired from community-dwelling participants enrolled in health checkup programs at a medical center in Taiwan. A total of 3053 men and 2929 women were included. Models were constructed for men and women separately with artificial neural network (ANN), support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), k-nearest neighbor (KNN), and logistic regression (LoR) to predict the presence of osteoporosis. Area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) was used to compare the performance of the models. We achieved AUROC of 0.837, 0.840, 0.843, 0.821, 0.827 in men, and 0.781, 0.807, 0.811, 0.767, 0.772 in women, for ANN, SVM, RF, KNN, and LoR models, respectively. The ANN, SVM, RF, and LoR models in men, and the ANN, SVM, and RF models in women performed significantly better than the traditional Osteoporosis Self-Assessment Tool for Asians (OSTA) model. We have demonstrated that machine learning algorithms improve the performance of screening for osteoporosis. By incorporating the models in clinical practice, patients could potentially benefit from earlier diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis.Organizational risks are present in any activity, so it is important to manage them properly. Early childhood educators are attachment figures for babies and play an important role in emotion socialization. This study aims to analyze the role of educators as emotional socializers and its relationship with infants' social competence and attachment security, considering various characteristics of educators (age, years of experience, level of knowledge of development and parenting) and the context (day-care center-family communication).

563 infants attending day-care centers (age M = 25.98 months SD = 5.41) and their 223 early childhood educators (age M = 42.61 SD = 11.02) took part in this study. The educators completed CEESQ-Crèche Educator Emotional Style Questionnaire, Information Sources Questionnaire, two sub-scales of KIDI-Knowledge of Infant Development Inventory, QRS-F-Questionnaire on the Relationship between Services and Families, QPI-Questionnaire on Peer Interactions, and AQS-Attachment-Q-Sort.

Results showed that the educator's coaching style has a relationship with attachment security and social skills and is positively correlated with the educators' emotional self-efficacy and with the level of communication between day-care centers and families, while the correlation with knowledge of parenting is weak.

These findings highlight the importance of enhancing not only educators' knowledge about educative strategies, but above all their emotional competence to promote children adaptation to day-care centers.
These findings highlight the importance of enhancing not only educators' knowledge about educative strategies, but above all their emotional competence to promote children adaptation to day-care centers.The importance and necessity of home-based rehabilitation with professional and systematic interventions should be considered since home-based rehabilitation has been institutionalized as it is more feasible, cost effective, and even safer than in-hospital rehabilitation in most countries-though not in South Korea. In addition, the need for home-based rehabilitation is increasing due to the increasing number of hip fracture patients and limited capacity of acute hospital rehabilitation. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the awareness, needs, and preferred components of home-based rehabilitation services after discharge for elderly patients with hip fracture surgery in South Korea. A survey of 98 elderly patients who recently underwent hip fracture surgery was performed using a questionnaire. More than 75% of patients agreed on the need for home-based rehabilitation, even though most had never heard of it. The reason for the need for home-based rehabilitation was that it is possible to receive continuously ongoing treatment (53.0%), and it alleviates the inconvenience of visiting hospitals (27.7%). In addition to this, about 15.7% of patients responded that they could achieve mental comfort. In other words, patients can recover in an emotionally stable environment without the psychological anxiety they might experience in hospital. Thus, in order to maximize the effectiveness of home-based rehabilitation and provide comprehensive guidance including exercise, education, motivational support, and environmental modification, to patients undergoing hip fracture surgery, the component of the rehabilitation program must be developed based upon rehabilitation experts' knowledge and patients' value. Additionally, corresponding policies should be established.Multicomponent training is recommended for people with dementia living in long-term care homes. Nevertheless, evidence is limited and people with severe dementia are often excluded from trials. Hence, the aim of this study was to investigate (1) the feasibility and (2) the requirements regarding multicomponent training for people with moderate to severe dementia. The study was conducted as an uncontrolled single arm pilot study with a mixed methods approach. Fifteen nursing home residents with a mean age of 82 years (range 75-90 years; female 64%) with moderate to severe dementia received 16 weeks of multicomponent training. Feasibility and requirements of the training were assessed by a standardized observation protocol. Eleven participants regularly attended the intervention. The highest active participation was observed during gait exercises (64%), the lowest during strength exercises (33%). The effectiveness of the adapted training should be tested in future randomized controlled trials.The COVID-19 pandemic has imposed on people the need to find meaning in many unprecedented ways. The aim of this qualitative study was to explore how the general Italian population dealt with government restrictions and to understand personal experiences connected with the first wave of the pandemic in light of the personal construct theory (PCT) framework. One hundred and sixteen people (over 18 years old) completed an online survey between May and June 2020. Two independent researchers ran inductive thematic content analysis on data using a specifically developed international codebook. Five major themes were identified in the participants' narrations difficulties, emotions, coping with lockdown measures, going back to normal, and change. The results, interpreted within the PCT transitions, showed that the pandemic represented a threat to participants' life plans, beliefs, and certainties. Some coped with it mainly by waiting for the pandemic to end and remaining firm in their beliefs and certainties, whereas others coped by trying to find alternative ways of giving sense to this experience and reconstructing personal meanings, claiming a change in their life and in society. Differentiating personal experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic is fundamental for designing personalised strategies to promote well-being.Strategies to address declining physical activity levels among children and adolescents have focused on 'individual-level' approaches which often fail to demonstrate impact. Recent attention has been on an alternative 'whole-school' approach to increasing physical activity that involves promoting physical activity throughout all aspects of the school environment. There is, however, a lack of evidence on how whole-school physical activity approaches could be implemented in the UK. This qualitative study explored perspectives of key stakeholders on potential reasons for the lack of impact of individual-level school-based interventions on children's physical activity, and key considerations for adopting a whole-school approach. Nineteen semi-structured interviews were conducted with a range of stakeholders involved in the implementation of physical activity programmes in UK schools. Data were analysed using an inductive approach. Respondents suggested that individual-level school-based interventions to increase physical activity often failed to consult end users in the design and were typically implemented in environments unsupportive of long-term change. They subsequently outlined specific barriers and key facilitators for the adoption and implementation of whole-school approaches in UK settings and recommended a shift in research foci towards building an evidence base around educational outcomes and whole-school implementation insights.
