The research has certain practical engineering value and provides an accurate guidance for the optimization of machine tool stiffness.Potential resistance to the guava root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne enterolobii, in ninety-one selected sweetpotato [Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.] genotypes was evaluated in six greenhouse experiments. Ten thousand eggs of M. enterolobii were inoculated on each sweetpotato genotype grown in a 31 sand to soil mixture. Sixty days post inoculation, percent of total roots with nematode-induced galls was determined, and nematode eggs were extracted from roots. Significant differences (P ˂ 0.001) among sweetpotato genotypes were found in all six tests for gall rating, total eggs, and eggs per gram of root. Resistant sweetpotato genotypes were determined by final eggs per root system divided by the initial inoculum where Pf/Pi less then 1 (reproduction factor; final egg count divided by initial inoculum of 10,000 eggs), and statistical mean separations were confirmed by Fisher's LSD t test. Our results indicated that 19 out of 91 tested sweetpotato genotypes were resistant to M. enterolobii. Some of the susceptible genotypes included 'Covington', 'Beauregard', 'NCDM04-001', and 'Hernandez'. Some of the resistant sweetpotato genotypes included 'Tanzania', 'Murasaki-29', 'Bwanjule', 'Dimbuka-Bukulula', 'Jewel', and 'Centennial'. Most of the 19 resistant sweetpotato genotypes supported almost no M. enterolobii reproduction with less than 20 eggs/g root of M. enterolobii. A number of segregants from a 'Tanzania' x 'Beauregard' cross demonstrated strong resistance to M. enterolobii observed in the 'Tanzania' parent. In collaboration with NC State University sweetpotato breeding program, several of the genotypes evaluated in these tests are now being used to incorporate the observed resistance to M. enterolobii into commercial sweetpotato cultivars. The finger lock in the retractable actuator of the landing gear will wear during repeated unlocking and locking. Therefore, the effects of six parameters including the material of the finger lock, the length of the finger lock, the diameter of the finger lock, the number of petals, and the angle of the fingertip on the unlocking force after 500 unlocking cycles are researched. Archard wear theory was performed to obtain the unlocking force after wear and the influence of six key parameters on the unlocking force in this paper. Then, wear experiment was designed and the effectiveness of model and the influence of six parameters were verified. The results show that the chamfers of the finger lock was most worn, causing the value of the axial unlocking force during the transition phase to increase, but it has little effect on the maximum unlocking axial force. The material of the lock has little effect on the axial force; the length, diameter and the number of petals are inversely proportional to the axial force, and the angle of the fingertip is proportional to the axial force. Using Archard method can effectively calculate the finger pattern wear of locks.Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) is one of the dominant bacteria for refractory infections of teeth. Silver ions (Ag+) have been proved to be a strong bactericide but with high cytotoxicity and discoloration property. Simvastatin is an agent used for dyslipidemia treatment and has anti-inflammatory property. In this study, Ag+ and simvastatin were for the first time used in combination, and poly (lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) submicron particles carrying both Ag+ and simvastatin (AgS-PLGA) were fabricated for further investigations. find more Results confirmed the enhanced antibacterial activity against E. faecalis of Ag+ by simvastatin. AgS-PLGA could release both Ag+ and simvastatin for 24 days and also showed enhanced antibacterial activities. On dentin slices, AgS-PLGA could enter dentinal tubules by ultrasonic activation and inhibit the colonization of E. faecalis. AgS-PLGA showed no cytotoxicity on MC3T3-E1 cells and slight suppressive effect on RAW-264.7 cells, and could reduce the secretion of IL-6 and IL-1β of RAW-264.7 cells. AgS-PLGA could be developed as a new biomaterial for infection and inflammation control for dental and related medical treatments.
No studies have assessed changes in employment survival in multiple sclerosis (MS) populations over recent decades, including the introduction of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs).
To evaluate factors associated with leaving employment due to MS; to assess whether the risk of leaving employment has changed over recent decades in Australia, stratified by MS phenotype.
We included 1240 participants who were working before MS diagnosis. Information on employment status, reasons for leaving employment and year of leaving were collected. Data were analysed using competing risk survival analysis.
Males, progressive MS, lower education level and older age at diagnosis were associated with a higher sub-distribution hazard of leaving employment. Compared to the period before 2010, the sub-distribution hazard during 2010-2016 for relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) was reduced by 43% (sub-distribution hazard ratio (sHR) 0.67, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.50 to 0.90), while no significant reduction was seen for primary-progressive multiple sclerosis (PPMS) (sHR 1.25, 95% CI 0.72 to 2.16) or secondary-progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS) (sHR 1.37, 95% CI 0.84 to 2.25).
Males, people with progressive MS and those of lower education level were at higher risk of leaving employment. The differential changed risk of leaving employment between people with different MS phenotype after 2010 coincides with the increased usage of high-efficacy DMTs for RRMS.

It is likely this relationship strengthens as gay men age, due to social isolation and fewer family supports. This study investigated whether the relationship between living alone and depressive symptoms was moderated by age among older gay men. A community sample of 270 Australian gay men aged 60 to 91 years (M = 68.81, SD = 8.69) completed the Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression Scale. Results supported the moderation model. The Johnson-Neyman analysis indicated that living alone was associated with depressive symptoms among gay men aged older than 66.28 years. Results imply that gay men older aged in their mid-sixties and older who live alone are at increased risk of depressive symptoms, and are a group of men that need targeted interventions to reduce depressive symptoms.
