This case report describes the successful treatment of a 39-year-old patient with severe crowding and a hopelessly fractured tooth on the maxillary left side. Maxillary dental crowding was relieved by extraction of a premolar on the right side, and this extracted tooth was autotransplanted to replace the fractured tooth. A mandibular incisor was extracted to correct anterior crossbite. The total treatment period was 20 months. The treatment results showed a good long-term prognosis after transplantation of a mature premolar with normal surrounding alveolar bone level for over 6 years of follow-up. Occlusion and periodontal health were excellent in the long term.This case report describes the treatment of a 16-year-old female patient with a skeletal open bite and temporomandibular dysfunction. Clear aligners and miniscrews were used to control the occlusal plane and improve the skeletal problem. In the presence of symptomatic SVCS associated with extensive mediastinal fibrosis compressing the superior vena cava with sub occlusive thrombosis, conventional surgery remains a treatment option, with cavo-venous derivation by prosthetic bypass.

A retrospective analysis of medical charts with a prospective follow-up was performed on data about patients undergoing RFA for insufficiency of great saphenous vein (GSV).

A total number of 135 patients (164 limbs) (63% n 85 female; 37% n 50 male; mean age of 53.9 years, range 24-85 years; mean VCSS score (Venous Clinical Severity Score) 6, range 4-22) were included. Complete obliteration of GSV was obtained in 98.2% of the cases. No device- or procedure-related adverse events occurred. No deep venous thromboses, pulmonary embolism, phlebitis, major bleeding, paraesthesia nor skin burn were detected. Patients returned to normal activities in a mean of 8 days (range 5-10). One-month postoperatively, the mean quality of life scores 6 (range 5-9) and mean satisfaction score was 6 (range 4-8) in a scale from 0 to 8. At a median follow-up of 11 months (range 2-18), mean VCSS was 3.9 (range 2-8).

CVT is not usually readily recognized and treatment may be delayed, impacting on the prognosis. Here we are reporting 2 cases of CVT occurring during a relapse of ulcerative colitis (UC) with review of literature. The first patient was a 27-year-old woman with chronic UC who presented with headaches during a relapse of chronic UC. She was found to have cerebral venous sinus thrombosis. The second one was a 45-year-old man who presented with seizures and focal neurological symptom during a relapse of chronic UC. He was found to have cerebral venous sinus thrombosis complicated by left temporal infarction. Both of them were treated with therapeutic anticoagulation with good improvement. The presence of neurological signs in a patient with UC mostly during exacerbation period, should alert health professionals about the possibility of a CVT.Acute limb ischemia induced by arterial vasospasm remains an exceptional situation, favoured by the use of arterial vasoconstrictors. A 33-year-old woman, who used to take dihydroergotamine for orthostatic hypotension, was prescribed a post-exposure HIV prophylaxis including lopinavir and ritonavir. One day later, she presented an acute bilateral limb ischemia with a sudden pain in both calves, initially while walking and then at rest with bilateral ischemic toes. Angiography confirmed diffuse arterial vasospasm of the lower limb arteries. A first-line therapy with isosorbide dinitrate and amlodipine was ineffective, with rapid clinical worsening. A combination of intra-arterial injections and intra-venous infusions of vasodilators, transluminal balloon angioplasty and bilateral 4-Compartment fasciotomies permitted rapid improvement and finally resulted in both lower limbs rescue.
