More studies are required.Palladium-doped SnO2 nanomaterials, with palladium in fractions from 0 to 10 mol% were hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by XRD, FESEM, TEM, and XPS. Their gas sensing properties were studied in two temperature ranges of 75-95 °C and 160-210 °C. The sensor using 5 mol% Pd-doped SnO2 exhibits temperature-dependent sensing property. NO2 can be detected at 80 °C, while H2S is preferably detected at 180 °C. The response to 10 ppm H2S is 50 times higher than that of the undoped sample. Its detection limit is 500 ppb. For NO2, the sensor exhibited strong response and a lower detection limit of 20 ppb. In both cases, the injuries led to the death of two soldiers A 22-year-old soldier in Germany was struck by the counter mass of a so-called Davis gun which had been fired by a comrade during a firing exercise; he died from his severe injuries, especially in the abdominal part of the body. As a peculiarity of the wound morphology, it was found to be a thick-layered, metallic, gray material in the wound cavity, which corresponded to the material of the counter mass that was ejected opposite to the shooting direction. The other case took place in Switzerland, where a 24-year-old soldier was seriously injured during an exercise with portable anti-tank rockets. At the time the shot was fired, he stood behind the launcher and was hit by the propulsion jet of the rocket motor. He died as well from his severe injuries, which were located at the chest done by the gas jet and by the very high pressure. In both cases, two different causes of death were present massive blunt violence in the first case versus a jet of hot gases of very high speed and temperature in the second case.PURPOSE Hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients are at risk for cognitive decline. Cross-sectional studies show patients' complaints of cognitive decline do not correlate well with concurrently measured objective neuropsychological performance, but rather with emotional variables and health-related quality of life. This longitudinal study investigated whether patient self-report of cognitive status would be concordant with objectively measured neuropsychological performance after accounting for change from their own pre-transplant objective baseline. METHODS Pre-HSCT and at 30 and 100 days post-HSCT, 46 patients underwent computerized neuropsychological testing (CogState) and completed surveys assessing patient-reported cognitive complaints, emotional symptoms (depression, anxiety), sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, and physical and functional well-being. Correlations were calculated between cognitive complaints and neuropsychological performance (at each time-point and across time-points), as wccount for changes in performance over time.PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to evaluate the prevalence over time of the measured side effects using a self-assessment questionnaire in normal clinical practice. METHODS The prevalence of symptoms reported by patients on the questionnaire was evaluated over two 1-year periods from 1 June 2006 to 31 May 2007 and from 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2014. Descriptive statistics were used to describe population. The 2006-2007 and 2013-2014 datasets were compared with each other using the chi-squared test for equality of proportion, Pearson's chi-squared test, and chi-squared test for trend in proportion. RESULTS We analyzed 1974 questionnaires from 283 patients in 2006-2007 and 2619 questionnaires from 403 patients in 2013-2014. The most frequently encountered symptom in both periods was fatigue; nausea and constipation decreased in 2013-2014 compared with 2006-2007, while alopecia increased. CONCLUSIONS Using the self-assessment questionnaire in normal clinical practice has allowed us to carry out an accurate prevalence survey on symptoms in patients receiving chemotherapy that takes into account not only reports of the presence of symptoms but also of their absence. This study aimed to explore whether dispositional mindfulness could alleviate multiple negative emotions of BC patients and to investigate the mediating effect of caregiver burden on the relationship between the patients' dispositional mindfulness and negative emotions. METHODS A sample of 230 Chinese BC patients receiving chemotherapy and their caregivers voluntarily participated in the study by completing a set of questionnaires including the Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale, the Caregiver Self-assessment Questionnaires, the General Anxiety Symptoms Scale, the Patient Health Questionnaire, and the PTSD Symptom Scale. Structural equation modeling was used to test the relationship between dispositional mindfulness, negative emotions, and caregiver burden.
