To overcome these shortcomings, the present study loaded MTX into nanoparticles of human serum albumin modified with mannose (MTX-M-NPs) to target the drug to neutrophils. MTX-M-NPs were prepared, and their uptake by neutrophils was studied using laser confocal microscopy and flow cytometry. A chick chorioallantoic membrane assay was used to assess their ability to inhibit angiogenesis. The pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution of MTX-M-NPs were investigated using fluorescence microscopy and high-performance liquid chromatography. Their pharmacodynamics was evaluated in a rat model with arthritis induced by collagen. Suzetrigine Neutrophils took up MTX-M-NPs significantly better than the same nanoparticles (NPs) without mannose. MTX-M-NPs markedly suppressed angiogenesis in chick embryos, and the MTX circulation was significantly longer when it was delivered as MTX-M-NPs than as a free drug. MTX-M-NPs accumulated mainly in arthritic joints. The retention of NPs was promoted by mannose-derived coating in arthritic joints. Serum levels of inflammatory cytokines, joint swelling, and bone erosion were significantly decreased by MTX-M-NPs. In conclusion, these NPs can prolong the in vivo circulation of MTX and target it to the sites of inflammation in RA, reducing drug toxicity. MTX-M-NPs allow the drug to exert its intrinsic anti-inflammatory, antiangiogenic, and analgesic properties, making it a useful drug delivery system in RA.Processing and packaging food has greatly exaggerated the use of food additives in different types of food products. Safety assessment to determine the pharmacokinetic and toxicological properties of food additives is imperative and experimentally challenging. Several resources of food additives properties have been collated; however, information remains partial, scattered, and not readily accessible, particularly for food safety. To address the concern related to the potential health hazard of food additives, we have developed the Food-Additive-Consumption-Safety Database (FOCUS-DB). Presently, the database comprises 2885 food additives, distributed into 18 categories with 40,800 collected data points, 89,435 predicted data points, and 14,425 external links. The dynamic web interface of the FOCUS-DB resource enables a risk assessment of additives, their approval status in various regulatory authorities, physicochemical properties, acceptable daily intake, GHS signals, biological pathways, predicted pharmacokinetic parameters, and various toxicity endpoint values. FOCUS-DB supports the exploration of food additives; it is beneficial for both the regulatory authorities and industries to optimize the usage limits of the additives and formulations. This database is a promising tool that helps understand the relationship between food additives and toxicity, which could be used to develop a future food safety framework.An organic-inorganic polyvinylidene fluoride/polyvinylidene fluoride-silica (PVDF/PVDF-SiO2) mixed matrix membrane contactor is fabricated via a facile and efficient hydrophobic modification method. The solubility parameters of the PVDF particle are precisely regulated, the PVDF particles are blended with SiO2 nanoparticles to form PVDF-SiO2 suspension, and then the suspension is introduced onto the surface of the PVDF substrate by an in situ spin coating strategy. The PVDF particles are partly etched and incorporated to construct the adhesive PVDF-SiO2 core-shell layer on the PVDF substrate, which results in a more stable PVDF-SiO2 coating layer on the substrate. The surface structure is precisely regulated by changing the etching morphology of PVDF particles and amount of doped PVDF and SiO2 particles, forming an integrated porous PVDF-SiO2 layer and constructing hierarchical lotus-leaf-like interfaces. The resultant PVDF/PVDF-SiO2 membrane contactors display the relatively regular distribution of pore size with ∼420 nm and excellent hydrophobic property with a water contact angle of ∼158°, which noticeably lightens wetting phenomena of membrane contactors. The SO2 absorption fluxes can reach as high as 1.26 × 10-3 mol·m-2·s-1 using 0.625 M of ethanolamine (EA) as liquid absorbent. The high stability of the SO2 absorption flux test indicates the excellent interface compatibility between the PVDF-SiO2 coating layer and the PVDF substrate. The versatile organic-inorganic layer exhibits super hydrophobic property, which prevents wetting of membrane pores. In addition, the membrane mass transfer resistance (H/Km) and membrane phase transfer coefficient (Km) are explored.A one-step synthesis of acyl phosphoramidates from a variety of functionalized acyl azides has been developed employing trimethylsilyl chloride as an activating agent in a modified Staudinger reaction. The methodology was further adapted to include the in situ generation of the acyl azides from a diverse selection of carboxylic acids and hydrazide starting synthons. The atomic force microscopy, cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy, and micro-Raman spectroscopy analyses confirmed the self-limiting formation of WO X while maintaining the crystallinity of the underlying WSe2. The channel layer of the back-gated 2D WSe2 FETs was encapsulated using 2D hexagonal boron nitride to prevent the UV/ozone-induced oxidation.
