Academic Press, San Diego, CA.Crown gall disease caused by diverse Agrobacterium species is one of the main biotic constraints in the ornamental plants industry in Iran (Mafakheri et al. 2017). In August 2019, Japanese spindle (Euonymus japonicus var. Green Rocket) plants showing crown gall symptoms were observed in a commercial greenhouse in Tehran, Iran. Infected plants were characterized by a visible overgrowth on their stems and crown. Bacterial isolation from the gall tissues was performed on nutrient agar (NA) and 1A media as described by Moore et al. (2001). The six resulted bacterial strains (A.E1 to A.E6) were evaluated using PCR primer pair F8360/F8361 amplifying a 453 bp DNA fragment in recA gene and confirmed as Agrobacterium sp. (Shams et al. 2013). Pathogenicity of the strains was evaluated in two independent assays on Japanese spindle plantlets as well as 10-15 day old tomato (Solanum lycopersicum cv. Sunseed 6189) and sunflower (Helianthus annuus cv. Armavirski) plants in greenhouse conditions using the needle prick methodaffect the ornamental shrub production industry in central Iran unless strict sanitary measures are taken into the account in the nurseries in these areas. Further nationwide surveys and samplings are warranted to elucidate the economic impact of the pathogen on ornamental plant industry in the country.Fusarium brachygibbosum Padwick, the causal agent of stalk rot disease, is a threat to the maize crop in China. However, the genomic information of the pathogen is not available yet. The current study presented the genomic information of F. brachygibbosum, isolated from maize. The genome size is 40.36 Mb and consisted of 12,510 genes. The GC content is 47.95%, and there are 913 predicted secretory proteins. The presented genomic data has highlighted the virulence features, plant-microbial interaction ability, genes associated with the pathogen's metabolic processes, and host-binding ability. Presented results would extend our knowledge of the pathogen and help us develop suitable disease management strategies.Xanthomonas citri pv. citri (Xcc) is the causative agent of citrus canker, one of the most devastating disease threatening global citrus production. Here, we present the genome sequence of Xcc strain GD82 from a formalin-fixed citrus leaf specimen showing canker lesions collected at 1982 in Guangdong Province, China. The GD82 genome comprised of 5,197,217 bp with G+C content of 64.8 %, along with four circular plasmids, pXAC33 (32,377 bp), pXAC64 (63,972 bp), pXAC47 (47,810 bp) and pGD82.1 (219,560 bp). This is the oldest Xcc genome from historical citrus canker specimens in China, which will enrich the current Xcc genome database and facilitate genomic evolution research of Xcc.Gerbera daisy, Gerbera jamesonii H. Bolus ex. Hooker, is an important flower grown globally. In September 2020, gerbera seedlings in a greenhouse farm in the region of Fujian, China, developed symptoms of severe wilting and stunting. The main stem exhibited reddish to light brown vascular discoloration. Approximately 30% of the 60,000 plants showed symptoms. To isolate the causal agent, necrotic tissue pieces (3×3 mm) from the symptomatic stem were surface-disinfected with 1% NaClO for 1 min and washed three times with sterile water. The disinfected pieces were dried and placed on potato dextrose agar (PDA) at 25°C in the darkness for 4 days inside a dark chamber. Reddish-white and floccose mycelia developed on PDA after 3 days incubation. Ten single-spored isolates were identified as Fusarium kyushuense based on morphological features (Aoki & O'Donnell, 1998). Hyaline and straight or slightly curved macroconodia were observed with 3 to 5 septate, 24.5 - 46.6 × 3.6 - 5.7 μm (n = 100). Microconidia were ellipsf F. kyushuense causing stem and root wilt on G. jamesonii. The disease must be considered in existing management practices.
The aim of this study was to determine the frequency and severity of adverse events (AEs) reported from use of an adjuvanted whole-cell autologous cancer vaccine in cats with solid tumors under field conditions.

The case accession database at Torigen Pharmaceuticals was searched to identify client-owned cats that underwent biopsy or surgical resection of their primary tumor, had histologic confirmation of neoplasia and received at least one subcutaneous dose of an adjuvanted whole-cell autologous cancer vaccine. Records were reviewed for any reported AEs.

In total, 117 cats met the inclusion criteria and received 422 doses of autologous cancer vaccine. Six (5.1%) cats had seven reported AEs, with the majority of these (85.7%) being characterized as grade 1 or 2 (mild) and resolving without medical intervention.

AEs were infrequent in cats treated with an adjuvanted whole-cell autologous cancer vaccine under typical field use conditions. This form of active cancer immunotherapy appears to be well tolerated by cats and may represent a treatment option for owners who are concerned about AEs associated with chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Additional studies are warranted to determine the efficacy of this form of individualized immunotherapy in cats with solid tumors.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of mechanical thresholds (MT), measured with the SMALGO (Small Animal ALGOmeter), and to determine whether there was a correlation between MT and Glasgow Feline Composite Measure Pain Scale (CMPS-Feline) scores in cats undergoing ovariohysterectomy.

Client-owned cats undergoing flank ovariohysterectomy were recruited. Pain scores for the pre- and postoperative periods were obtained using the CMPS-Feline in each cat by two independent investigators (A and B). Following CMPS-Feline scoring, MT were measured with the SMALGO, in the surgical area, pre- and postoperatively, only by investigator A. Each cat served as its own control for the comparison of pre- and postoperative variables. Reliability statistics were used to assess the level of inter-observer agreement (A vs B) with respect to pre- and postoperative CMPS-Feline scores, while Spearman's correlation statistics were used to analyse the relationship between MT and CMPS-Feline scores.

Twenty-nine cats col of inter-observer agreement with respect to postoperative CMPS-Feline scores highlights the potential limitations of this scale.
Although there was no correlation with CMPS-Feline scores performed at the same timepoint, MT increased postoperatively vs baseline. Assuming that, despite analgesia, susceptibility of the surgical area to mechanical stimulation would increase after surgery, this finding suggests that MT might be useful to assess feline surgical pain. The poor level of inter-observer agreement with respect to postoperative CMPS-Feline scores highlights the potential limitations of this scale.Coercive control behaviors central to the abuse of power appear more frequent than other types of domestic violence, but little is known about its frequency, features, and consequences for women in India. We aimed to examine the prevalence of domestic coercive control and its association with physical, sexual, and emotional domestic violence in the preceding year and symptoms of depression, anxiety, and suicidal thinking. In a cross-sectional survey, we interviewed 4,906 ever-married women aged 18-49 years living in urban informal settlements in Mumbai, India. We developed a 24-item scale of coercive control, assessed physical, sexual, and emotional violence using existing questions, and screened for symptoms of depression with the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ9), anxiety with the Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD7) questionnaire, and suicidal thinking with questions developed by the World Health Organization. Estimates involved univariable and multivariable logistic regression models and the prediction of marginal effects. The prevalence of domestic coercive control was 71%. In total, 23% of women reported domestic violence in the past 12 months (emotional 19%, physical 13%, sexual 4%). Adjusted models suggested that women exposed to controlling behavior had greater odds of surviving emotional (aOR 2.1; 95% CI 1.7, 2.7), physical (1.4; 1.0, 1.9), and sexual (1.8; 1.1, 3.0) domestic violence in the past 12 months; and higher odds of a positive screen for moderate or severe depression (1.7; 1.3, 2.2), anxiety (2.1; 1.3, 3.1), and suicidal thinking (1.7; 1.2, 2.3), and increased with each additional indicator of coercive control behavior. When women reported 24 indicators of coercive control, the adjusted predicted proportion with moderate or severe depressive symptoms was 60%, anxiety 42%, and suicidal thinking 17%. Inclusion of coercive control in programs to support domestic violence, would broaden our understanding of domestic abuse to resemble most victims experience and improve interventions.Genetic Analyses of Complex Phenotypes Through the Example of Anorexia Nervosa and Bodyweight Regulation Abstract. Genetics variants are important for the regulation of bodyweight and also contribute to the genetic architecture of eating disorders. For many decades, family studies, a subentity of so-called formal genetic studies, were employed to determine the genetic share of bodyweight and eating disorders and found heritability rates exceeding 50 % with both phenotypes. Because of this significant contribution of genetics, the search for those genes and their variants related to the variance in bodyweight and the etiology of eating disorders - or both - was commenced by the early 1990s. Initially, candidate genes studies were conducted targeting those genes most plausibly related to either phenotype, especially based on pathophysiological considerations. This approach, however, implicated only a few genes in the regulation of bodyweight and did not provide significant insights into the genetics of eating disorders. Driven by considerable methodological advances in genetic research, especially related to the introduction of so-called genome-wide association studies by the beginning of the 21st century, today more than 1,000 variants/loci have been detected that affect the regulation of bodyweight. Eight such loci have been identified regarding anorexia nervosa (AN). These results as well as those from cross-disorder analyses provide insights into the complex regulation of bodyweight and demonstrated unforeseen pathomechanisms for AN.
