Genomic prediction (GP) is a promising technology that uses genomic markers to estimate genomic-assisted breeding values (GBEVs) for selecting resistant plant genotypes and accumulating favorable alleles for adult plant resistance (APR) to wheat rust diseases. To evaluate GP we compared the predictive ability of nine different parametric, semi-parametric and Bayesian models including Genomic Unbiased Linear Prediction (GBLUP), Ridge Regression (RR), Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO), Elastic Net (EN), Bayesian Ridge Regression (B to be effectively applied in breeding programs for resistance to all three wheat rust diseases.A photocatalytic system for the degradation of aqueous organic pollutants under visible light irradiation is obtained by an innovative approach based on ceria/platinum (Pt) hybrid nanoclusters on cellulose acetate fibrous membranes. The catalytic materials are fabricated by supersonic beam deposition of Pt nanoclusters directly on the surface of electrospun cellulose acetate fibrous mats, pre-loaded with a cerium salt precursor that is transformed into ceria nanoparticles directly in the solid mats by a simple thermal treatment. The presence of Pt enhances the oxygen vacancies on the surface of the formed ceria nanoparticles and reduces their band gap, resulting in a significant improvement of the photocatalytic performance of the composite mats under visible light irradiation. Upon the appropriate pretreatment and visible light irradiation, we prove that the most efficient mats, with both ceria nanoparticles and Pt nanoclusters, present a degradation efficiency of methylene blue of 70% and a photodegradation rate improved by about five times compared to the ceria loaded samples, without Pt. The present results bring a significant improvement of the photocatalytic performance of polymeric nanocomposite fibrous systems under visible light irradiation, for efficient wastewater treatment applications.Plants exposed to drought stress conditions often increase the synthesis of anthocyanins-natural plant pigments and antioxidants. However, water deficit (WD) often causes significant yield loss. The aim of our study was to evaluate the productivity as well as the anthocyanin content and composition of berries from cultivated Fragaria vesca "Rojan" and hybrid No. 17 plants (seedlings) grown under WD. The plants were grown in an unheated greenhouse and fully irrigated (control) or irrigated at 50% and 25%. The number of berries per plant and the berry weight were evaluated every 4 days. The anthocyanin content and composition of berries were evaluated with the same periodicity using HPLC. The effect of WD on the yield parameters of two evaluated F. vesca genotypes differed depending on the harvest time. The cumulative yield of plants under WD was not less than that of the control plants for 20-24 days after the start of the experiment. Additionally, berries accumulated 36-56% (1.5-2.3 times, depending on the harvest time) more anthocyanins compared with fully irrigated plants. Ultrasonography was used to assess the presence of plaques in carotid and femoral territories; the validated Spanish version of the questionnaire on the frequency of engaging in physical activity used in the Nurses' Health Study and the Health Professionals' was used to assess physical activity and sitting time; and demographic, anthropometric, and clinical data were obtained by trained personnel during the annual medical examination.
