There is a lack of epidemiological data regarding children's voice in Poland which limits the development of preventive and medical pediatric procedures in our country. <br><b>Objective</b> The aim of study was to determine the prevalence of voice disorders in children starting school education in Mazovia. <br><b>Material and method</b> The study was a retrospective analysis of survey data from parents of children attending the first grade of primary school. The survey consists of five questions describing the voice. A statistical analysis of 7891 questionnaires was carried out. <br><b>Results</b> Analysis of the survey showed a prevalence of dysphonia in 12.8% children aged 7 starting primary school. In this study, voice disorders were observed more often in boys (14.6%) than girls (10.8%). The authors presented the correlation between voice disorders and the expression of emotions. <br><b>Conclusions</b> Studies have shown that the percentage of children with voice disorders is significant in our country. The survey regarding voice in school children in Mazovia shows preliminary results of voice disorders in the pediatric population in Poland.<b>Introduction</b> The use of cochlear implants (CI) has been a remarkable success in reducing disabilities in patients with impaired hearing. The definition of success for those patients means improvement of hearing ability for adults, possibility to develop speech and language for children, quality of life improvement and satisfaction with the whole CI implantation procedure. <br><b>The aim</b> To examine patient satisfaction, determined by their place of residence, with all activities in progress during CI implantation including care in subsequent years. Material and methods The study was conducted prospectively. Online surveys were sent to 1,906 CI patients, with the response rate reaching 33%; thus 630 surveys were analyzed. Demographic data of the respondents were collected gender, age of implantation, one- or two-sided implantation, place of residence and implanting clinic. A detailed statistical analysis of the obtained data was performed. <br><b>Results</b> One of the problems observed was the aspect of waiting time for qualification, implantation and replacement of the speech processor. The second problem was the travel time to the CI center and that was strictly connected with the place of the residence of a patient. Patients' satisfaction with the control visit was high for majority of them. <br><b>Conclusions</b> This research highlighted the limitations of the current CI service delivery. Significant differences concerning the CI pathway were found for particular regions of Poland. One of the future goals for healthcare providers should be to level out the differences in access to CI services between different regions of Poland.<b>Background</b> The aim was to present the methodology and interpretation of intraoperative hearing monitoring with simultaneous Transtympanic Electrocochleography (TT-ECochG) and direct Cochlear Nerve Action Potential (CNAP) measurements during vestibular schwannoma removal. <br><b>Materials and Methods</b> Detailed methodology of measurements and interpretation of results are presented in three exemplary patients who underwent tumor removal via middle fossa approach (MFA) with the use of intraoperative monitoring of hearing with TT-ECochG and direct CNAP performed in real time. In addition, all responses were automatically recorded and stored along with surgical information and subjected to detailed analyses and calculation after surgery. <br><b>Results</b> The following changes in TT-ECochG and direct CNAP responses were observed Patient #1 - TT-ECochG and CNAP responses with minor, but transient, morphology changes (hearing was preserved); Patient #2 - CNAP responses changed significantly but, temporarily, from triphasic into biphasic responses later, with marked but partially reversible desynchronization of CNAP; changes in TT-ECochG responses were also observed but, at the end, returned to baseline (surgery-related deterioration of hearing); Patient #3 - irreversible changes of TT-ECochG and direct CNAP (complete loss of hearing). <br><b>Conclusions</b> A combination of TT-ECochG and direct CNAP allows for real-time monitoring of auditory function during vestibular schwannoma resection and surgical manipulation which contribute to the risk of hearing loss. Therefore, the surgeon can be instantly informed about changes which could increase the possibility of preserving the patient's hearing.
