The new coronavirus syndrome (COVID-19) is a multi-organ pathological manifestation that, in severe forms, causes greater damage to the respiratory system, especially in the lung district with severe respiratory failure. In many cases, especially in elderly patients with high comorbidity degree, the disease can have a rapid course with a fatal outcome. Specifically, the data relating to the four Italian regions most affected by the effects of the new coronavirus Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-CoronaVirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), namely Lombardia, Veneto, Emilia Romagna and Piemonte, were assessed. In this work, we decided to focus the analysis only on data relating to patients admitted to the intensive care unit and to patients who died in Italy with COVID-19 in the period 24 February-4 May 2020. We used a data set where each point was an expression not of a single day, but of a longer period of time (date-points method). The article clearly identifies the phases in which the epidemic was articulated at national level and in the observed regions. Both the overall national data and the data referring to the most affected regions show an initial exponential mortality trend up to March 21st approximately. From this point the restrictive measures adopted from March 10th shows their effects and the trend first increases only linearly and then finally decreases, also thanks to the implementation of therapeutic strategies aimed at modulating respiratory distress and the clinical condition of thromboembolism, typical of critical patient COVID-19.

Epidemiological investigations found that COVID-19 fatality rates in Wuhan, rest parts of Hubei province except Wuhan (Rest of Hubei) and rest parts of Mainland China except Hubei province (Rest of China) were different. An ecological study was conducted to analyze the reasons and provide the world with China's anti-COVID-19 epidemic experiences.

Infected cases from Mainland China were divided into three populations Wuhan, Rest of Hubei and Rest of China. Methods were based on

50,333 total confirmed cases in Wuhan made up the most substantial part by comparison with 17,795 in Rest of Hubei and 14,630 in Rest of China, respectively. The GAM incorporated the complexity of the survey data, while simultaneously modelling the nonlinear and spatial random effects to allow a more precise identification of the major malaria risk factors that influence the geographical distribution of thental context.Uganda is considered as a 'hot spot' for emerging and re-emerging infectious disease epidemics. The country has experienced several epidemics including; Ebola, Marburg, plague, Rift Valley fever, yellow fever and Crimean Congo haemorrhagic fever. Epidemics overwhelm health systems, devastate economies and cause global health insecurity. These public health challenges arising from the interaction of humans-animals-environment link require a holistic approach referred to as One Health (OH). OH is the collaborative effort of multiple disciplines working locally, nationally, and globally, to attain optimal health for people, animals, and the environment. Given its situation, Uganda has embraced the OH approach in order to be able to predict, prepare and respond to these public health challenges effectively, though still in infancy stages. In this paper, we present major achievements and challenges of OH implementation, and make recommendations for systematic and sustainable OH implementation. Achievements include formation of the National One Health (NOH) platform with a Memorandum of Understanding between sectors; a national priority list of zoonotic diseases, the NOH Strategic Plan and a One Health communication strategy to strengthen engagement across sectors and stakeholders. There have also been efforts to integrate OH in academia. The challenges are related to inadequate; coordination across sectors, government commitment, advocacy and awareness creation and research. For systematic and sustainable OH engagements, urgent efforts should be made through government support to address current and related future challenges.Cesarean section rates remain high in Georgia. Selleckchem Ridaforolimus As a cesarean section in the first pregnancy generally lead to a cesarean section in subsequent pregnancies, primiparous women should be targeted for prevention strategies. The aim of the study was to assess factors associated with cesarean section among primiparous women. The study comprised 17,065 primiparous women with singleton, cephalic deliveries at 37-43 weeks of gestation registered in the Georgian Birth Registry in 2017. The main outcome was cesarean section. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis were used to identify factors associated with cesarean section. The proportion of cesarean section was 37.1% with regional variations from 14.2% to 57.4%. Increased maternal age, obesity and having a baby weighing ≥4000 g were all associated with higher odds of cesarean section. Of serious concern for newborn well-being is the high proportion of cesarean section at 37-38 weeks of gestation. Further research should focus on organizational and economical aspects of maternity care to uncover the underlying causes of the high cesarean section rate in Georgia.
