Translocation renal cell carcinoma (TRCC) is a rare form of RCC affecting mostly children and young adults with the occurrence of only 1-5% of all renal cell carcinomas. These carcinomas are associated with different translocations on a short arm of chromosome X in the region 11.2, which results in genetic modification of the p arm containing the transcription factor E3 gene.

Herein we report a case of a patient who was dia-gnosed with TRCC with c-Met overexpression and was treated with multiple targeted therapy agents and immunotherapy.

A 28-year old woman without a significant past medical history underwent left sided total nephrectomy for TRCC. Seven months later, she developed systemic relapse and was treated with multiple lines of targeted therapy including sunitinib, everolimus, sorafenib, crizotinib, and pazopanib as well as with anti-PD-L1 antibody nivolumab, with stable disease as a best response. The most pronounced disease stabilization was achieved with sorafenib, which lasted 18 months. The patient died 81 months after initial dia-gnosis and 74 months from the dia-gnosis of metastatic disease.

Improved survival observed in our patient could be related to the effectivity of tyrosine-kinase inhibitors, but notm-TOR inhibitors, even though disease stabilisation was observed as a best response. Identification of new treatment targets are warranted in this rare disease.

The paper deals with temporary incapacity for work and newly created first, second or third degree disability in people dia-gnosed with lung cancer (dg. C34). The aim of this study was to describe the economic impacts on the budget in the Czech Republic, spent through the Czech Social Security Administration on temporary incapacity for work and newly created disability pensions due to the disease. For greater completeness of the impact on the budget of the Czech Republic, we have also provided an overview of applications for care allowance and applications for the purpose of granting a disability card.

The starting point for the evaluation was the data provided by the Czech Social Security Administration. The basic research group consisted of people with dg. C34, who applied for an invalidity pension in 2016-2019, due to first, second and third degree invalidities. The disability and temporary incapacity for work is therefore related to a group of people at working age. With the help of quantitative research using content analysis of the text, we performed data evaluation.

We found that even though the number of people applying for a disability pension for dg. C34 is declining slightly, the expenditure on these pensions is still high. In the years 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, the research groups consisted of 612, 631, 576 and 543 people, respectively.

Castleman disease (CD) is a rare lymphoproliferative disorder including unicentric and multicentric forms which can further be divided into four histopathologic variants (hyaline vascular, plasma cell, mixed, and plasmablastic). Multicentric CD typically behaves as an aggressive, relapsing entity with generalized lymphadenopathy and systemic symptoms. PET/CT following 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose administration (FDG-PET/CT) represents an imaging modality commonly used in malignant lymphomas for staging purposes and response assessment. However, literature data on its role in CD have been limited.

Twenty-nine patients, 18 men and 11 women, dia-gnosed in 1998-2016 were enrolled in our retrospective study. All patients underwent FDG-PET/CT during initial staging and/or as part of response assessment. We measured the maximum diameter of a lesion and established an index value corresponding to the ratio of the maximum standardized uptake value for the observed lesion and for the liver. Preoperative chemoradiotherapy (CRT) and perioperative chemotherapy (CHMT) are a standard of care for distal esophageal and gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinomas. PET/CT using 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG-PET/CT) is one of the basic staging examinations with a certain prognostic significance and has recently been studied for the possibility of showing prognostic or predictive results suitable for the individualization of treatment strategy.

The aim of this review is to map the role of 18-FDG-PET/CT in predicting the response to CHMT and CRT, which could be a starting point for personalized treatment.
