The presented studies are focused on the wear resistance and friction coefficient changes of the thermal diffusion (TD) zinc coating deposited on steel. The aim of research was to evaluate the variation in coating properties during dry friction as a result of the method of preparation of the basis metal. The measured properties were compared to those obtained after classic hot-dip (HD) zinc galvanizing-heat treated and untreated. Thermal diffusion zinc coatings were deposited in industrial conditions (according to EN ISO 176682016-04) on disc-shaped samples. The results obtained during the tribological tests (T11 pin-on-disc tester) were analysed on the basis of microscopic observations (with the use of optical and scanning microscopy), EDS (point and linear) analysis and microhardness measurements. The obtained results were similar to effects observed after heat treatment of HD zinc coating. The conducted analysis proved that the method of initial steel surface preparation results in changes in the coating's hardness, friction coefficient and wear resistance.Inflammatory bowel disease is a chronic relapsing disease. Multiple factors can cause inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including diet, imbalance of the immune system, and impaired intestinal barrier function. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a complex and chronic metabolic disease caused by a combination of insulin resistance and an ineffective insulin secretory response. The co-occurrence of these two diseases, demonstrating interrelated effects within the gut microbiota, has been frequently reported. This study evaluated the effects of a fermented glycated conjugate of whey protein and galactose with Lactobacillus gasseri 4M13 (FMRP) to prevent type 2 diabetes mellitus with inflammatory bowel disease. C57BLKS/J- db/db mice were orally administered FMRP for 14 consecutive days and 2% dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) in water ad libitum for 5 days to induce colitis. FMRP-fed mice showed improved insulin secretion and symptoms of colitis. Compared to the DSS group, the FMRP group showed a decreased abundance of six bacterial genera and increased abundance of Alistipes and Hungateiclostridium. In cecal contents, the levels of short-chain fatty acids increased in the FMRP group compared to those in the DSS group. Recently, radiolabeled SST antagonists have shown improved diagnostic efficacy over agonists. 99mTc-labeled SST antagonists are lacking in clinical practice. Surprisingly, when [99mTc]Tc-HYNIC was conjugated to the SST2 antagonist SS01, SST2 imaging was not feasible. This was not the case when [99mTc]Tc-N4 was conjugated to SS01. Here, we assessed the introduction of different spacers (X β-Ala, Ahx, Aun and PEG4) among HYNIC and SS01 with the aim of restoring the affinity of HYNIC conjugates. The [99mTc]Tc-HYNIC-Ahx conjugates of SS01 and JR11 were comparable to [99mTc]Tc-HYNIC-TOC as imaging agents. HYNIC is a suitable chelator for the development of 99mTc-labeled SST2 antagonists when a spacer of appropriate length, such as Ahx, is used.Central nervous system (CNS) involvement by paraneoplastic syndromes, brain metastases, or leptomeningeal carcinomatosis (LC) in patients with neuroendocrine neoplasms (NEN) has only been described in individual case reports. We evaluated patients with LC in four neuroendocrine tumor (NET) centers (Halle/Saale, Hamburg, Heidelberg, and Marburg) and characterized them clinically. In the study, 17 patients with a LC were defined with respect to diagnosis, clinic, and therapy. The prognosis of a LC is very poor, with 10 months in median overall survival (mOS). This is reflected by an even worse course in neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) G3 Ki-67 >55%, with a mOS of 2 months. Motor and sensory deficits together with vigilance abnormalities were common symptoms. In most cases, targeted radiation or temozolomide therapy was used against the LC. LC appears to be similarly devastating to brain metastases in NEN patients.
