A small compound inhibitor of Nox2 along with Nox4 increases contractile purpose after ischemia-reperfusion from the computer mouse center.
The aim of this study is to improve the biological and mechanical properties of zirconia-based PICN (polymer-infiltrated-ceramic-network) materials by fabrication an enamel-like structure on its surface.

Fluorapatite (FA) arrays were fabricated on zirconia discs by hydrothermal treatment. After polymer infiltration, an enamel-like structure was obtained on zirconia-based PICN materials. Effects of hydrothermal treatment conditions on the FA arrays were investigated by XRD, FTIR and SEM. Human gingival fibroblast cells (HGFs) and Escherichia coli (E. coli) were used to evaluate the cytocompatibility and antibacterial properties. Nanoindentation method was employed to determine elastic modulus and hardness.

A facile and pervasive method was developed in this study to fabricate an enamel-like structure constituted of controlled FA arrays and interstitial resin on zirconia-based PICN materials. The obtained FA arrays can significantly promote the adhesion and proliferation of human gingival fibroblasts (HGFs), and further effectively inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli. Owing to the hierarchical structure, the enamel-like structure has achieved a hardness of 1.79 GPa and a lower Young's modulus of 37.4 GPa.

The enamel-like structure, with excellent biological and mechanical properties, is promising for various applications in dentistry.

To assess energy dissipation capacities and surface damping abilities of different CAD/CAM restorative materials (CRMs) to characterize stress resistance during load peaks.

Using instrumented indentation testing (IIT), Martens hardness (HM) together with its elastic (η
) and plastic index (η
) and Leeb hardness (HLD) together with its deduced energy dissipation (HLD
) were determined for eight ceramic, eight composite, and four polymer-based materials as well as three metals. The results were compared to those of bovine enamel. Ten indentations per material were performed at room temperature (23 ± 1 °C) on two separate specimens (12.0 × 12.0 × 3.5 mm
) after water storage (24 h; 37.0 ± 1.0 °C). Hardness parameters were recorded, and data were analyzed with one-way MANOVA (Games-Howell post hoc tests, α = 0.05). Correlations between different parameters were tested (Pearson, α = 0.05).

Independently determined HLD
, and η
values substantiated different energy dissipation characteristics of CRM, whereby a strong correlation was observed for the two datasets (r = 0.956, p = 0.011). Ceramics had the significantly lowest values (p < 0.001) while both parameters revealed the highest surface damping effects for metals (p < 0.001), followed in both cases by bovine enamel. Energy dissipation of polymer and composite CRM was in between ceramics and bovine enamel (p < 0.001), whereas only for HLD
did both show no significant difference (p > 0.05).

Promising new HLD
and η
data allow a reliable differentiation of energy dissipation and surface damping capacities of CRMs. Previously published rankings of edge chipping and loss tangent results were perfectly reproduced, especially by HLD

The metabolically unhealthy normal weight (MUN) and metabolically healthy obese (MHO) phenotypes are abnormal metabolic states. The purpose of this study was to report the frequency of the strictly defined MHO and MUN phenotypes and the association between metabolic phenotype and 10-year Framingham cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk score using a sample taken from the 2015-2016 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.

A cross-sectional sample of 2,316 participants age 18-79 years with complete metabolic health information were selected from the 2015-2016 dataset and included in the present analysis. Proteasome inhibition Metabolic health was defined as the absence of all metabolic abnormalities as outlined by the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III criteria, excluding waist circumference. Obesity was defined as body mass index≥30kg/m
or waist>88.9cm for females or>101.6cm for males.

Frequency of the MHO phenotype was 5.5% and the MUN was 44.3%. After adjustment for all covariates, Framingham CVD risk score was higher in the MUN (b=1.74,p<0.001) and metabolically unhealthy obese (b=3.32,p<0.001) phenotypes that used BMI to define obesity, and the MHO phenotype had a slight protective effect (b=-2.25,p<0.001) when waist circumference was used as the measure of obesity.

Metabolically unhealthy phenotypes had higher CVD risk, while the MHO phenotype was not at any greater risk than the metabolically healthy normal weight.

There is a need to develop easy-to-use tools to screen for periodontal conditions in daily practice. This study aimed to evaluate the FDI World Dental Federation "Chairside Guide" (FDI-CG) developed by the Task Team of the FDI Global Periodontal Health Project (GPHP) as a potential tool for screening.

Databases from 3 centres in Germany, Hong Kong, and Spain (n = 519) were used to evaluate the association of the FDI-CG and its individual items with the periodontitis case definitions proposed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) for population-based surveillance of periodontitis.

Statistically significant differences were observed among the databases for the prevalence of periodontitis and the items included in the FDI-CG. The FDI-CG score and its individual components were significantly associated with the periodontal status in the individual databases and the total sample, with bleeding on probing showing the strongest association with severe periodontitis (odds ratio [OR] = 12.
