To investigate whether artificial intelligence (AI) can reduce interval cancer in mammography screening.

Preceding screening mammograms of 429 consecutive women diagnosed with interval cancer in Southern Sweden between 2013 and 2017 were analysed with a deep learning-based AI system. The system assigns a risk score from 1 to 10. Two experienced breast radiologists reviewed and classified the cases in consensus as true negative, minimal signs or false negative and assessed whether the AI system correctly localised the cancer. The potential reduction of interval cancer was calculated at different risk score thresholds corresponding to approximately 10%, 4% and 1% recall rates.

A statistically significant correlation between interval cancer classification groups and AI risk score was observed (p < .0001). AI scored one in three (143/429) interval cancer with risk score 10, of which 67% (96/143) were either classified as minimal signs or false negative. Of these, 58% (83/143) were correctly located by AIor false negative.

This study aimed to split continuously obtained PI and other vital signs before, during, and after medical treatment of PDA, into histogram bins, and determine the utility of PI and other vital sign histograms in the early prediction of hemodynamically significant PDA (hsPDA). In 34 infants at a mean gestational age of 26 ± 2.1 weeks, we prospectively collected vital signs for three different periods, 24 h before starting treatment of PDA, during PDA treatment, and 24 h after completion of the course of treatment, and confirmed PDA closure by echo. Histograms with three comparable periods were obtained from preterm infants who did not require treatment for PDA and analyzed for comparison. The duration of time spent in each histogram bin was determined for each time epoch. Episodes of low PI  2, reflecting the dynamic nature of hsPDA shunt volume. 99 acute anterior circulation stroke patients who received multimodal CT and underwent thrombectomy with resulting partial to complete reperfusion (modified thrombolysis in cerebral infarction scale (mTICI) ≥ 2a) were retrospectively analyzed. Penumbra volume was quantified on CT perfusion and penumbra salvage volume (PSV) was calculated as difference of penumbra and net infarct growth from admission to follow-up imaging.

In patients with complete reperfusion (mTICI ≥ 2c), the median PSV was significantly higher than the median PSV in patients with partial or incomplete (mTICI 2a-2b) reperfusion (median 224mL, IQR 168-303 versus 158mL, IQR 129-225; p < 0.01). A higher degree of recanalization was associated with increased PSV (+ 63mL per grade, 95% CI 17-110; p < 0.01). Higher PSV was also associated with improved functional outcome (OR/mRS shift 0.89; 95% CI 0.85-0.95, p < 0.0001).

Therefore, we intend to further verify the potential advantages of the mixed micelle delivery system through in vitro cytotoxicity test and animal test to understand the anticancer effect and in vivo pharmaceutical behavior of the system. In vitro cytotoxicity test showed that the new PTX-HS15/T80 MMs had a stronger ability to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells. The results of in vivo pharmacokinetics showed that the micelle had shorter half-life, higher clearance rate, and lower blood concentration and had good blood clearance characteristics. The results of in vivo tissue distribution showed that, compared with the single micelle Taxol®, the new PTX-HS15/T80 MMs had good distribution characteristics in the lung (AUC (lung 0-4 H) increased about 26%) and low concentration in the heart (AUC (Heart 0-4 H) decreased about 10%).
