We summarized PMI's preclinical and clinical data on the effects of switching from cigarette smoking to THS.

Data from four preclinical mouse and rat studies showed that, upon either cessation of cigarette smoke exposure or switching to THS exposure, the upregulation of CYP1A2 observed with exposure to cigarette smoke reverted close to fresh-air levels. Data from four clinical studies yielded similar results on CYP1A2 activity within a time frame of five days. Furthermore, the effects of switching to THS were similar to those seen after smoking cessation.

Anatomic ACL grafts routinely display the anisometric length-tension behaviour seen in the native ligament with maximum length in full knee extension. Recent improvements in hamstring graft preparation and fixation have improved graft rigidity to the point where total graft lengthening after implantation may be less than 1mm. Despite this it remains common practice to fix these grafts in a knee flexed position.

Nineteen participants underwent all-inside ACL reconstruction with optimally preconditioned 4 strand semitendinosus grafts using bi-cortical adjustable suspensory loop fixation. Using a computer navigation system, baseline measures of anisometricity, extension range, and tibial rotation were made. It was a retrospective review of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in which 51 normal and 61 MRI of patients who had undergone ACL reconstruction at our institute were evaluated. Postoperative ACL reconstruction group MRI studies were obtained and evaluated by two sports medicine fellows independently to assess the position of interference screw, distance of the graft from the anterior cortex of tibia and inclination of the graft. The data was collected and compared with MRI data of normal ACL patients.

There were total 61 patients with ACL reconstruction. 32 patients had anterior screw placement and 29 patients had posterior screw placement in the tibial tunnel. The distance of the graft from the anterior cortex was 39.18% in ACL intact group, 50.35% in anterior screw group and 41.64% in posterior screw group. The inclination angle was 44.49⁰ in intact group, 49.69° and 42.20° in anterior and posterior screw group respectively. The difference between intact group and anterior screw group was statistically significant.

Most adrenal injuries occur in the right gland solitary and they are not life-threatening. Hence, they can be treated with conservative actions. In this case report, we describe the history a 5-year-old child with the history of falling and was diagnosed with adrenal hemorrhage. He did not need any surgical procedures and the outcome of conservative treatment was satisfactory.Adrenal cavernous hemangioma is an extremely rare benign tumor. To date, less than 70 cases have been reported in the literature. In most of the cases, the tumor is hormonally silent, discovered incidentally and the diagnosis is made postoperatively. Pre-operative differentiation between this benign tumor and other malignant adrenal tumors is challenging. In this article we present a case of a non-functioning adrenal incidentaloma that was managed by laparoscopic adrenalectomy. The post-operative histological diagnosis was adrenal cavernous hemangioma.
