1 to 7.2 in relation to the preoperative stage. Conclusion In the group of patients ≤ 40 years old, a considerable change was observed in the WOMAC score without a statistical significance compared with the > 60 years group. This observation suggests that hip arthroscopy is beneficial when there is an appropriate selection of patients with FAI, regardless the age of the patient. Objective To evaluate the incidence of prosthetic instability in a consecutive series of 42 cases of total hip arthroplasty using dual mobility cup. Methods A retrospective study of 38 patients undergoing primary or revision total hip arthroplasty (THA) using the acetabular dual-mobility cup (DMC) implant between January 2012 and January 2018. The rates of complications and instability after surgery were evaluated. Results In total, 42 arthroplasties were performed in 38 patients, with a minimum follow-up of 16 months. The mean age of the sample was 60 years. In 38 cases, we used a cementless DMC, and, in the other 4 cases, a cemented DMC. There were no cases of early or late instability. Conclusion The series herein presented proves the good result of the DMC in cases of primary arthroplasty, complex and complicated cases of failed osteosynthesis of proximal femoral fractures, and revision for THA instability. The absence of episodes of prosthetic instability and complications in complex cases of primary and revision THA increases the confidence in this concept. Objective Description of the sacropelvic parameters measurement method for S2-alar iliac (S2AI) screw insertion. Methods Descriptive study of the method for measuring sacropelvic parameters for the insertion of the S2AI screw using computed tomography (CT). The data evaluated in multiplanar reconstructions were the parameters of the screw trajectory, including length, diameter and angles of the trajectory in the axial and sagittal planes. Results From the sagittal reconstruction, the axis of the series of axial slices is angled three-dimensionally so that it is possible to visualize the S2 vertebra, the screw entry point, and the anteroinferior iliac spine (AIIS) in the same plane. The entry point is demarcated at the midpoint between the dorsal foramina of S1 and S2. www.selleckchem.com/ALK.html To measure the length of the screw, lines are drawn tangent to the inner and outer cortices of the iliac. The diameter is determined by the shortest distance between the inner and outer iliac faces minus half of the diameter of the screw chosen medially and laterally. The path angle in the axial plane is formed by the anteroposterior midline of the sacrum and the line of the screw length. The craniocaudal inclination angle in relation to the S1 plateau corresponds to the degree of inclination made in the sagittal plane to find the image in which the entry point and the AIIS are seen in the same plane. Conclusion It was possible to adequately assess, through multiplanar CT reconstructions, the sacropelvic parameters necessary for the safe insertion of the S2AI screw. Objective Compare by mechanical tests the pullout resistance and the insertion torque of rough and smooth pedicle screws. Methods Pedicle screws with rough surface and smooth surface, with diameters of 4.8; 5.5 and 6.5 mm, were inserted in polyurethane blocks with density of 10 PCF (0.16 g/cm3). Insertion torque and pullout strength were assessed. Results The pullout strength of the rough surface and smooth surface screws did not differ, except in the group of 4.8 mm diameter screws. In this group, the rough surface screws showed greater resistance to pullout. Conclusion Pedicle screws with a rough surface did not show increased pullout resistance in the acute phase of their insertion in polyurethane blocks compared to smooth surface screws. The rough surface screws had a higher insertion torque than the smooth surface screws, depending on the diameter of the screw and the preparation of the pilot hole. Objective To perform a prospective evaluation of muscle injuries that occurred during the matches of series A and B of the Brazilian Men's Football Championship from 2016 to 2018. Prospective A prospective-cohort study with data collection regarding muscle injuries that occurred during the official matches of the first and second divisions of the Brazilian Men's Soccer Championship in the 2016, 2017 and 2018 seasons. Results The total number of muscle injuries was of 577 throughout the 3 seasons, with a gradual and annual reduction in the incidence of injuries (219 injuries in 2016, 195 in 2017, and 163 in 2018), with a statistically significant difference between the 2016 and 2018 seasons. Muscle injuries represented approximately 35% of the total lesions. The incidence of muscle injuries was of 7.66 per 1,000 hours of play. During the 3 seasons (2016 to 2018), the most common injury was of the hamstring muscle (41.1%, 40.5%, and 33.7% respectively). Wingers were the most affected players, and the most common injury severity scale was moderate (8 to 28 days). The moment of the match with the highest incidence of injuries was in the period between 61 and 75 minutes, with an index of 19.9%, with no statistical difference in relation to the other periods of the match. Conclusion There was an incidence of muscle injuries of 7.7 /1,000 h, and they occurred predominantly in home games, in defenders (wingers and centre-backs), with an average age of 28 years, mainly involving the hamstring muscles, with a moderate mean time of absence (8 to 28 days). Objective The present study aims to measure the incidence of overload injuries in training soldiers, who are subjected to intense physical exercise, and to compare it with a control group. Next, it intends to verify whether there is any relationship between overload injuries and some neuromuscular function parameters. Methods Analytical, prospective observational study. Both the observational and the control group consisted of soldiers from the Portuguese Army. Clinical evaluation was performed by medical interview in the week prior to the beginning of a military parachuting course and in the week immediately after its completion. The neuromuscular performance was assessed by isokinetic dynamometry during the medical interview. Results With 44 of the 57 military personnel in training complaining of pain, the observational group had significantly more injuries than the control group ( p 70%. The implementation of strategies for injury monitoring and prevention is critical to promote health and physical capacity.
