We report a case involving a 73-year-old Saudi man diagnosed with dermatomyositis who subsequently developed Kaposi's sarcoma one month later. He had difficulty in rising from a chair and increased leg weakness while climbing stairs or walking. He was unable to comb his hair and had greater dysphagia with liquids than with solid foods. Laboratory tests showed elevated liver enzyme and creatine kinase levels. Right quadriceps muscle biopsy indicated inflammatory myopathy, which was consistent with adult dermatomyositis. We administered 1-g/day methylprednisolone intravenously for 3 days, followed by 60-mg oral prednisolone daily, which led to significant improvements in his muscle strength and dysphagia symptoms. The creatine phosphokinase level normalized. Computed tomography and endoscopic examinations did not reveal any evidence of an underlying malignancy. The patient was discharged and underwent close monitoring at a rheumatology clinic. We subsequently added 50-mg oral azathioprine daily to the treatment regimen. At one month after emergency room presentation, multiple new dusky violaceous macules and plaques appeared on his chest, face, upper back, neck, and upper limbs. A biopsy of one of these lesions showed findings consistent withKaposi's sarcoma. He was referred to an oncology center for chemotherapy, following which his skin lesions significantly regressed. Dermatomyositis may be considered a paraneoplastic syndrome of Kaposi's sarcoma.
To identify practice patterns among radiation oncologists in Saudi Arabia.

A questionnaire comprising 27 scientific questions and 6 demographic questions was created in 2019 by a faculty member at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and distributed among radiation oncologists in Saudi Arabia between February and April 2019.

Twenty-four responses were received. Regarding chest wall treatment after mastectomy, 100% of the respondents offered postmastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT) for tumor stage 3 node 1 (T3N1) or T4 disease, while 87.5% offered PMRT for T2N1, and 83.3% offered PMRT for T3N0 disease. In contrast, there was a lack of consensus regarding treatment planning and coverage criteria for internal mammary lymph nodes and contouring.

To evaluate the variability in perspectives between pediatric surgeons and pediatric urologists in managing cryptorchidism.

We conducted this survey among pediatric surgeons and pediatric urologists managing cryptorchidism in Saudi Arabia in October 2020. We distributed a questionnaire to 187 consultants using the Google forms platform. We collected data related to the consultant's experience, preoperative management, management of nonpalpable testes, management of palpable undescended testes, management of the cryptorchidism in special situations.

The response rate was 77% for pediatric surgeons (n=77) and 46% for pediatric urologists (n=40). The number of cases managed by each specialty per year differed significantly (
=0.02); however, there was no significant difference in their experience (
=0.37). The preferred age for orchidopexy was 6-12 months for both specialties. Pediatric surgeons tend to prescribe preoperative ultrasound more frequently for nonpalpable testes (
=0.05). Laparoscopy was thm. The results of this survey demonstrated the need to establish national guidelines to manage patients with cryptorchidism.
To assess the efficacy of vancomycin powder (VP) in total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

The study design was retrospective cohort. All patients who underwent primary TKA for osteoarthritis between January 1, 2018, and March 1, 2020, in King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia were included (n=98). Of the total participants, 48 participants in the experimental group matched with 48 participants in the control group were included in the final study sample. Numerical variables are reported as means, standard deviations, and standard errors. The hypothesis was tested using the Chi-square test and independent t-test.

To evaluate the level of public awareness regarding cervical spine injuries among adult residents of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

This descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out between June and November 2020. It involved structured questionnaires, collecting information on participant socio-demographic characteristics, first responder training status, and the awareness of cervical spine trauma and suitable first aid response.

A total of 4914 respondents (age, 31.6 ± 11.8 years) completed the survey. Most participants (75.2%) reported road traffic accidents as a risk factor for cervical spine injury. Moreover, 79.4% of the participants reported that cervical spine injury may be accompanied by damage to the spinal cord. Motor and sensory disability, and trouble breathing were recognized as complications associated with cervical spine injuries by 52.1%, 39%, and 28.8% of the participants, respectively. Fewer than one in 3 participants was aware of cervical spine trauma or the suitable first aid response.
