The purpose was to compare retinal and choroidal thickness using swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) in DS subjects with controls. This cross-sectional study included 100 eyes of 52 DS subjects and 78 eyes of 39 matching age and axial length controls. Our results showed that inner or outer retinal and ganglionar thickness showed no significant differences between DS and control group (p > 0.05). However, retinal foveal thickness (rFT), ganglion foveal thickness (gFT) were significantly higher in DS group than in controls, whereas choroidal foveal thickness (cFT) and some choroidal quadrants of inner and outer rings were significantly lower (p less then 0.05). This the first pilot study to provide information about macular and choroidal thicknesses in SD using SS-OCT compared to controls. Further analyses with larger numbers of subjects are needed to confirm our results.We present the case of an 81-year-old woman who developed a bilateral spontaneous suprachoroidal hemorrhage while under treatment with sodium enoxaparin. Temporal suspension of anticoagulant therapy led to an improvement of the choroidal hemorrhage. After three months follow-up, there was a complete reabsorption of the choroidal detachments, but there was a persistent vitreous hemorrhage in the right eye, which had been more severely affected. Pars plana vitrectomy with air tamponade was successfully performed in the right eye. Vision improved to 20/50 in the right eye and 20/20 in the left eye. Suprachoroidal hemorrhage is a rare condition with a poor visual prognosis. Reports on the development of suprachoroidal hemorrhage in patients with no predisposing ocular conditions are scarce, and in none were both eyes affected. The patient reported directly looking at the sun for several hours in the setting of a bipolar disorder decompensation. The visual acuity was 0.3 in both eyes (BE). Intraocular pressure and anterior segment were normal. In the fundus exam, a peri-macular halo with loss of the foveolar reflex was observed in BE. The macular optical coherence tomography revealed a disruption of the ellipsoid line and the retinal pigment epithelium. Bilateral central defects were seen in the Humphrey 24-2 visual field. After 6 months of follow-up, the visual clinical picture remains stable with the same degree of visual acuity. Solar maculopathy is a disorder due to the phototoxic effects of radiation, which cause a decrease in visual acuity by disrupting the retinal photoreceptor layer.An 8-year-old boy presented with fever, vomits, bloody diarrhoea, and blurred vision. The patient was diagnosed with Haemolytic Uraemic Syndrome (HUS) due to the symptoms and a positive Verotoxin stool test. Funduscopic examination showed retinal involvement in both eyes, peri-papillary paleness, retinal haemorrhages, and soft "Purtscher Fleckens" exudates. A favourable outcome was achieved after hospital admission and systemic treatment. Dialysis treatment was not needed due the preserved diuresis. Although Purtscher-like retinopathy is very uncommon, ocular examination is mandatory in patients with pancreatitis, autoimmune diseases, and thrombotic microangiopathies, such as HUS.Idiopathic macular telangiectasia type 1 (MacTel 1) almost always occurs unilaterally. In this article, we report the case of a 73-year-old man with no significant history diagnosed with MacTel 1 but with atypical bilateral presentation, something very rare in this disease. The usefulness of multimodal imaging studies, including optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), is highlighted to differentiate it from macular telangectasia type 2 (MacTel 2). The patient's condition was characterized by cystoid macular edema (CME) with discreet results with treatment with a dexamethasone implant. Diabetic retinopathy is widely known, however we present the case of a rare retinal condition, acute panedothelial retinal leakage. It typically affects patients with type 1 DM and poor glycemic control. Its diagnosis is important since a strict metabolic control is sufficient for its resolution, avoiding aggressive therapies.The case is presented on a young Honduran female with no medical history of note, who presented with multiple areas of exudative retinal detachment (RD), and a best-corrected visual acuity of 1.3 logMAR in both eyes. She was diagnosed with incomplete Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome, and treated early with a combination of intravenous therapy with 1 g of prednisolone per day for 3 days, as recommended by published evidence, as well as mycophenolate mofetil (2 g per day). During the corticosteroids tapering, there was a recurrence of exudative retinal detachments, and megadoses of 1 g of intravenous corticosteroids per day were reintroduced for 6 days until the complete resolution of the fluid of the exudative RD, and cyclosporine (100 mg per day), subtenon triamcinolone (40 mg/mL), and intravitreal ranibizumab once a month in the both eyes were added to the treatment, with a great control of choroidal inflammation that resulted in the remission of symptoms and signs.
