Appearing Jobs of the MICOS Complex within Cristae Mechanics and also Biogenesis.
This work aims to improve the physicochemical properties of polylactic acid (PLA) and thermoplastic yam starch (TPS) blends using epoxidised sesame oil (ESO). We used epoxidised sesame oil from two Colombian Caribbean crops Dioscorea rotundata and Sesamum indicum, with an oil substitution of 58.4 %. read more Films were obtained through extrusion and compression moulding processes. Moisture content, solubility, contact angle, and mechanical, barrier, and structural properties were determined using optical and scanning electron microscopy, infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy. Thermal analyses were also performed using thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry techniques. The results suggest that the PLA and TPS interactions can be improved with the addition of ESO as coupling agent, enhancing the interfacial adhesion between the polymers, and favouring the smoothness of the film surface. Furthermore, the ESO addition led to increased thermal stability while restricting molecular mobility, indicating a coupling agent effect. In conclusion, the use of epoxidised oil for preparing films based on high PLA content and TPS allows obtaining enhanced interfacial adhesion. Considering the above, the developed materials have potential application in semi-rigid food packaging. In Canada, the potato (Solanum tuberosum) is by far the most cultivated vegetable and plays a major nutritional role. However, during storage, the potato can easily undergo germination. In this study we have shown the inhibition potential of ethylene as an anti-germinative agent acting especially on phenols. In both varieties assayed (Yukon Gold and Russet Burbank) in this study, the ethylene treatment led to a decrease in total phenol concentration of about 20%. The analysis of potato extracts showed the decrease of specific phenol concentrations which was dependant on the time and temperature of extraction. Our hypothese that the transformation of phenols into phenolic ethyl ethers via possible radical mechanism were then formulated and confirmed by LC and LC/MS.This research aimed to evaluate the effects of ergonomic intervention on the musculoskeletal complaints and fatigue experienced by workers of the traditional metal casting industry that manually pour molten metal into molds. The workers' physical complaints are typically in the form of musculoskeletal complaints, which include (1) an activity aspect, (2) a physical aspect, and (3) a motivational aspect. The method used in this research was stratified random sampling. The subjects (n = 127) were divided into three groups, namely, the process cement department (PCD) group, the loam department (LD) group, and the black sand department (BSD) group. The evaluation was carried out using questionnaires based on musculoskeletal complaints and fatigue. Meanwhile, an assessment of musculoskeletal complaints and fatigue was conducted one month before the ergonomic intervention, and then during follow-ups at one and eight months after the ergonomic intervention. The results showed that the average reduction in musculoskees when pouring molten metal into molds, and consuming nutritious food during break times.Dry sliding wear characteristics of aluminium nano-composites reinforced with different wt. % of multiwall carbon nanotubes (0.25, 0.5, 0.75 wt. %) and fly ash (4, 8, 16 wt. %) produced by powder metallurgy were investigated. ANOVA and Taguchi methods of design of experiment technique were successfully used to determine the predominant factors and optimisation of the testing parameters on wear. MWCNT (wt. %) and FA (wt. %) was found to be the predominant parameter affecting wear loss with percentage contribution of 43.71% and 30.78%. The results of Taguchi indicate the optimized values of wear parameters were 0.25wt. % MWCNT, 8 wt. % FA, 2 h ball milling, 6 h sintering, 10 N applied load, 200 rpm sliding speed and 500 m sliding distance. The microstructure of composites exhibited well dispersion of the reinforcements in the aluminium matrix. The study of worn surfaces revealed minor grooves and delamination wear due to abrasive and adhesive wear mechanisms.Listeria monocytogenes is a pathogen contaminated food, it is the cause of listeriosis worldwide. The aims of this study were to investigate the occurrence, antimicrobial resistance, serotyping and virulence genes of L. monocytogenes isolated from foods in Meknes city of Morocco. From June 2017 to May 2018, 520 food samples were randomly collected from a traditional market and two overcrowded popular neighborhoods (Lahdim and Hamria) and subjected to the detection of L. monocytogenes. Then, the antimicrobial susceptibility of the isolated strains were evaluated using the standard disk diffusion method and the determination of serotypes and virulence genes was performed by PCR. The results showed the detection of L. monocytogenes in fifteen (2.9%) of 520 samples, including three (5.7%) isolates in traditional whey, raw minced meat and raw sausage, two (3.8%) in raw milk and one (1.9%) in smen (traditional butter), raw bovine meat, raw poultry meat and raw fish, while salads and rayeb (traditional coagulated milk) were not contaminated. Among the fifteen isolated L. monocytogenes, nine (60%) belonged to the serogroup (1/2a, 1/2c, 3a and 3c), two (13.3%) belonged to the serogroup (1/2b, 3b, 4b and 4d) and four (26.6%) do not belong to any studied serogroup. Furthermore, fifteen (100%) isolates showed the presence of actA gene, fourteen (93.3%) harbored hlyA, prfA and plcB genes, thirteen (86.7%) carried inlA and inlC genes and twelve (80%) showed inlJ gene. The antimicrobial susceptibility analysis showed that the isolated strains were more resistant to amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (67.0%), erythromycin (60.0%), sulphamethoxazole (40.0%), ampicillin and sulphamethoxazole/trimethoprim (33.0%) and tetracycline (20.0%). Furthermore, 66.7% (10/15) were multidrug-resistant. From this study, we can conclude that foods marketed in Meknes city were contaminated by multidrug-resistant strains of L. monocytogenes harboring virulence genes, which may cause a serious risk to public health.
