However, reinnervation of its branch to the infraspinatus muscle (IB-SSN) is poor. Reconstruction of the SSN in cases of scapular fractures is frequently neglected in clinical practice. The morphological study was performed on 25 adult human cadavers. The course and the length of SSN of minimal diameter of 2 mm within the trapezius muscle, the length of the distal stump of IB-SSN to its branching point and the length of the SSN available for reconstructive procedure were measured. The feasibility study of the SAN - IB-SSN neurotization performed by using a bony canal under the spine of scapula was performed. The mean distance of the SAN from the spine was 8.5 cm (±0.88) at the point where it perforates the trapezius muscle and 4.49 cm (±0.72) at the most distal part of the nerve. The mean length of the intramuscular portion of the nerve was 14.74 cm (±1.99). It ran under a mean latero-medial angle of 15.54° (±2.51). The mean distance between the medial end of the scapular spine and the SAN was 2.44 cm (± 0.64). The mean length of the IB-SSN was 3.6 cm (± 0.67). The mean length of the SAN stump which was mobilized from its original course and transferred to the infraspinous fossa to reach distal stump of the IB-SSN was 8.09 cm (±1.6). Direct SAN to IB-SSN transfer is anatomically feasible in the adult population.The aim of this paper is to review the roles that community pharmacists in the United States (US) can play to support public health measures during the current severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic (COVID-19). Community pharmacists in the US are highly visible and accessible to the public and have long been regarded as a source for immunization services as well as other public health activities. In the US, the scope of pharmacy practice continues to expand and incorporate various health services on a state-by-state level. For the purposes of this article, a PubMed literature search was undertaken to identify published articles on SARS-CoV-2, COVID-19, pharmacist- and pharmacy-based immunization and other public health care activities in the US in order to identify and discuss roles that community pharmacists can play during this pandemic including as vaccinators, screeners and testers. In conclusion, community pharmacists are knowledgeable and capable providers of public health services and are easily accessible and well regarded by the public. We used nationwide data to examine hyperkalemia follow-up in patients with hypertension. Reversan Methods and Results We identified 7620 patients with hypertension, who had the first plasma potassium measurement ≥4.7 mmol/L (hyperkalemia) within 100 days of combination antihypertensive therapy initiation. A second potassium was measured 6 to 100 days after the episode of hyperkalemia. All-cause mortality within 90 days of the second potassium measurement was assessed using Cox regression. Mortality was examined for 8 predefined potassium intervals derived from the second measurement 2.2 to 2.9 mmol/L (n=37), 3.0 to 3.4 mmol/L (n=184), 3.5 to 3.7 mmol/L (n=325), 3.8 to 4.0 mmol/L (n=791), 4.1 to 4.6 mmol/L (n=3533, reference), 4.7 to 5.0 mmol/L (n=1786), 5.1 to 5.5 mmol/L (n=720), and 5.6 to 7.8 mmol/L (n=244). Ninety-day mortality in the 8 strata was 37.8%, 21.2%, 14.5%, 9.6%, 6.3%, 6.2%, 10.0%, and 16.4%, respectively. The multivariable analysis showed that patients with concentrations >5.5 mmol/L after an episode of hyperkalemia had increased mortality risk compared with the reference (hazard ratio [HR], 2.27; 95% CI, 1.60-3.20; P5.5 mmol/L were also associated with an increased all-cause and cardiovascular mortality.Background The role of microRNAs dysregulation in tobacco cigarette smoking-induced vascular damage still needs to be clarified. We assessed the acute effects of tobacco cigarette smoking on endothelial cell-related circulating microRNAs in healthy subjects. In addition, we investigated the potential role of microRNAs in smoking-dependent endothelial cell damage. Methods and Results A panel of endothelial-related microRNAs was quantified in healthy subjects before and after smoking 1 tobacco cigarette. Serum levels of miR-155 were found to be significantly increased shortly after smoking. We also observed a progressive and significant miR-155 accumulation in culture media of human endothelial cells after 30 minutes and up to 4 hours of cigarette smoke condensate treatment in vitro without evidence of cell death, indicating that miR-155 can be released by endothelial cells in response to smoking stress. Cigarette smoke condensate appeared to enhance oxidative stress and impair cell survival, angiogenesis, and NO metabolism in human endothelial cells. Notably, these effects were abrogated by miR-155 inhibition. We also observed that miR-155 inhibition rescued the deleterious effects of cigarette smoke condensate on endothelial-mediated vascular relaxation and oxidative stress in isolated mouse mesenteric arteries. Finally, we found that exogenous miR-155 overexpression mimics the effects of smoking stress by inducing the upregulation of inflammatory markers, impairing angiogenesis and reducing cell survival. These deleterious effects were associated with downregulation of vascular endothelial growth factor and endothelial NO synthetase. Conclusions Our results suggest that miR-155 dysregulation may contribute to the deleterious vascular effects of tobacco smoking.Background Sexual minority, or lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB), individuals are at increased risk for cardiovascular disease attributable to elevated rates of health risk factors. Methods and Results We conducted a cross-sectional online survey about statin use in adults ≥40 years of age between September and December 2019 using Facebook advertising (n=1531). We calculated the prevalence of statin use by age, sexual orientation, and statin benefit populations.
