Nowadays, acute respiratory infection (ARI) is the most common cause of high morbidity and mortality rate in children. ARI is defined as an infection either in the upper or lower respiratory tract that lasts for 14 days and caused by either viruses or bacteria. The incidence of ARI in 2017 is 20.54%, with the most prominent characteristic in children aged 1 to 4 years. Factors thataffect ARI frequency are gender, birth weight, nutritional status, immunization status, vitamin A status, exclusive breastfeeding, smoke exposure, family income, and mother's formal education.

This study aims to find out risk factors that potentiate ARI among children from age 1 to 5.

This study used a descriptive-analytical method with a cross-sectional study approach. The data is taken by consecutive sampling method with a questionnaire as the tool.

The bivariate analysis result using Fisher's exact test shows that there is no relation between sex (p=0.642), birth weight (p=0.683), completion of immunization (p=0.195), vitamin A supplementation (p=1.000), exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.157), crowding (p=1.000), family income (p=0.658), knowledge (p=1.000), attitude (p=0.156), and behavior (p=1.000) with the frequency of ARI. The bivariate analysis result using Kruskal-Wallis test shows that there is no significant difference between groups in each factor of smoke exposure (p=0.988) and mother's formal education (p=0.899) with the frequency of ARI.

Due to the vast application of purine nucleoside itself in the field of cancer research, we synthesized triazolo[3,4-e]purines and screened them for their anti-cancer study against NCI-60 cell lines by the protocol used by NIH.

The targeted molecules, 4-chloro-5a,6-dihydro-8-substitutedphenyl-1H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-e]purinederivatives (4a-4h) were synthesized in a two-step procedure by nucleophilic substitution (SN) at C-2 chlorine followed by formation of the triazole ring by acid-catalyzed reaction in the polar protic solvent.

It was observed that the regioselective approach followed in C-2 chlorine replacement instead of C-6 chlorine during SN reaction. One-dose response of selected three molecules (4a, 4b, and 4c) showed that 4b (K-562 64.47 µM & SR 63.38 µM; mean GI50 99.09 µM) was found to be more potent than 4a and 4c.

We have described in this study the general synthetic method for triazolo[3,4-e]purines as an innovative class of potential anticancer agents. The dose-response curve in the sense of mean GI50 for three compounds across all 60 cell lines, 4b can be served as lead after necessary modification.
