Severe obstetric hemorrhage is a leading cause of severe maternal morbidity. A perinatal blood transfusion is the key factor in the treatment of severe obstetric hemorrhage. Our aim is to identify patients with a high risk of perinatal blood transfusions before Cesarean Section, which can promote the effectiveness of the treatment of severe obstetric hemorrhage, as well as improve obstetric preparations.

This study retrospectively analyzed the data of 71 perinatal blood transfusion patients and 170 controls, who were both underwent Cesarean Section from July 2018 to September 2019. These data were included in the training set to build the risk prediction model of needing blood transfusion. Additionally, the data of 148 patients with the same protocol from October 2019 to May 2020 were included in the validation set for model validation. A multivariable logistic regression model was used. A risk prediction nomogram was formulated per the results of the multivariate analysis.

The strongest risk factors for perinatal blood transfusions included preeclampsia (OR = 6.876, 95% CI 2.226-23.964), abnormal placentation (OR = 5.480, 95% CI 2.478-12.591), maternal age (OR = 1.087, 95% CI 1.016-1.166), predelivery hemoglobin (OR = 0.973, 95% CI 0.948-0.998) and predelivery fibrinogen (OR = 0.479, 95% CI 0.290-0.759). A risk prediction model of perinatal blood transfusions for cesarean sections was developed (AUC = 0.819; sensitivity 0.735; specificity 0.848; critical value 0.287).

Tandem mass tag (TMT)-based proteomics analysis was performed to detect the differential protein expression in Ftx-overexpressing and Ftx-silenced HCT116 cells. To estimate the effects of different intensities of intermittent pneumatic soft-tissue compression on bone defect repair in an animal model.

Five mm radial bone defect in length was made in 64 mature New Zealand rabbits and all animals randomly assigned into four groups Group A (control group without compression), Group B (5-7kPa intensity), Group C (8-10kPa intensity) and Group D (11-13kPa intensity). On the fourth day after surgery, their legs were intermittently pneumatic compressed for 4weeks. The stimulation lasted 30min every day and the frequency of compression was 15Hz. New bone formation in 4 groups was evaluated by gross observation, X-ray, Micro-CT, and histological staining at 2 and 4weeks after surgery.

There was more new bony callus in the bone defect in group C than in other groups by gross observation and X-ray radiography at 2 and 4weeks. The Micro-CT results showed more new bony callus, bone trabecula and higher bone mineral density in group C. Brace treatment for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis is recognized as effective if the brace is worn as prescribed (20 to 23 hrs/day). Because of its negative biopsychosocial impact on adolescent patients' quality of life, brace adherence is a common problem (average bracewear of 12 hrs/day). The purpose of this paper is to develop an interprofessional support intervention model to enhance brace adherence in adolescents with scoliosis.

We enrolled 9 health professionals working with braced patients to participate in individual interviews. Interview guides were built following the Information-Motivation-Strategy Model (DiMatteo et al., Health Psychol Rev 674-91, 2012) and the Interprofessional Care Competency Framework (Education UoTCfI, Toronto Acad Health Sci Network, 2017). Thematic analysis was performed to identify the most relevant concepts for designing the intervention model. A panel of 5 clinical experts was recruited to review and validate the intervention model.

Triple Artemisinin-based Combination Therapies (TACTs) are being developed as a response to artemisinin and partner drug resistance in Southeast Asia. However, the desirability, timing and practical feasibility of introducing TACTs in Southeast Asia is subject to debate. This study systematically assesses perspectives of malaria experts towards the introduction of TACTs as first-line treatment for uncomplicated falciparum malaria in Southeast Asia.

A two-round Delphi study was conducted. In the first round, 53 malaria experts answered open-ended questions on what they consider the most important advantages, disadvantages, and implementation barriers for introducing TACTs in Southeast Asia. In the second round, the expert panel rated the relevance of each statement on a 5-point Likert scale.

Malaria experts identified 15 advantages, 15 disadvantages and 13 implementation barriers for introducing TACTs in Southeast Asia in the first round of data collection. In the second round, consensus was reached on 1aria experts' perceptions on the major advantages, disadvantages and implementation challenges for introducing TACTs in Southeast Asia, over current practices of rotating ACTs when treatment failure is observed.
