Radiation-induced lung toxicity is rare after treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma but may be influenced significantly by the RT technique used. Biological planning using NTCP may have the potential to define personalized RT strategies.Raptinal is a novel antineoplastic agent that induces an expeditious intrinsic apoptotic pathway, in addition to the shutdown of mitochondrial function for cancerous cells, because of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) that have been shown to provide a worthy approach to overcome tumors. In this study, Both Raptinal and Raptinal-loaded silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were tested as the first time in hepatocellular carcinoma-induced mice to evaluate its efficacy and targeting to HCC. Seventy-two albino male mice of comparable age were classified into six groups; early stage of HCC was induced using diethyl nitrosamine (DEN)/carbon tetrachloride (CCL4). Pyrintegrin clinical trial Liver function was assessed in all groups using ALT, AST, total bilirubin, and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) as well as histopathological examination. Quantitative gene expression of key apoptotic gene markers p53, cytochrome c, and caspase 3 was assessed in all liver homogenates. The results showed that Raptinal-loaded AgNPs group had significant increase in both apoptotic genes of cytochrome c and Caspase 3 at P = 0.0001 compared with Raptinal-free drug group. AFP levels were significantly decreased in Raptinal-loaded AgNPs group compared with both Raptinal-free drug and HCC groups at P = 0.0001. Degenerative changes in the hepatocytes with focal necrosis and inflammatory cell infiltration in histopathology confirm the biochemical analysis. Our study is considered one of the first studies using Raptinal in vivo. Moreover, it showed that Raptinal and/or the combination between Raptinal and AgNPs showed a promising therapeutic agent in treating early HCC.A red-pigmented isolate, designated DG31DT, was isolated from the soil of a rice field in South Korea. Cells were strictly aerobic, short rod-shaped, Gram-negative, oxidase-positive, and catalase-positive. The major polar lipid was phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), and the predominant respiratory quinone was MK-7. DG31DT showed high resistance to both the UV and gamma radiations. Based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence, strain DG31DT was related to Rufibacter immobilis MCC P1T (97.1%) and Rufibacter tibetensis 1351T (96.5%). The average nucleotide identity (ANI) and in silico DNA-DNA hybridization (isDDH) values between the strain DG31DT and the related Rufibacter sp. were between 74.1-77.6% and 19.9-21.9%, respectively. Strain DG31DT grew between 15 and 30 °C (optimum, 25 °C), at pH 6.0-8.0 (optimum, pH 7.0) and tolerated up to 1.0% NaCl (w/v). The major cellular fatty acids of the novel strain were summed feature 3 (C161 ω7c/C161 ω6c) and C161 ω5c. Flexirubin-type pigments were absent. On the basis of the phenotypic, phylogenetic, and chemotaxonomic data, strain DG31DT represents a novel species of the genus Rufibacter, for which the name Rufibacter radiotolerans sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is DG31DT (= JCM 19446T = KCTC 32454T).To address correlations between population sizes of microbes on the leaf surfaces and leaf morphological and physicochemical properties, various leaf morphological and physicochemical features as possible predictors of microbial population sizes on the leaf surfaces of four Napier grass cultivars were assessed. Results indicated microbes except for lactic acid bacteria (LAB) preferred to colonize the leaf surfaces bearing trichomes, and their population sizes were significantly correlated with trichomes, especially for yeasts. The population sizes of microbes were positively correlated with soluble sugar content (p 10.66 mg g-1 dry matter). In conclusion, leaf chemical attributes have a higher contribution than morphological structure properties in determining population sizes of microbes on the leaf surfaces. The exuded soluble sugar and protein promote the development of microbial populations. For different genotypes of leaf-microbe system, the relationship between microbial abundance on their leaf surfaces and leaf morphological structure or physicochemical properties may be predicted by the MRT. Population sizes of microbes are primarily influenced by soluble sugar content under the water-rich conditions.It remains to be investigated whether syntax-related mismatch activity would be evoked in event-related optical signals by syntactic violations that deviate from our language knowledge and expectations. In the current study, we have employed fast optical neuroimaging with a frequency-domain oximeter to examine whether syntactic violations of English bare infinitives in the non-finite complement clause would trigger syntax-related mismatch effects. Recorded sentences of bare or full infinitive structures (without or with the 'to' infinitival marker) with syntactically correct or incorrect versions and non-syntactic lexical items (verbs) were presented to native speakers of English (n = 8) during silent movie viewing as a passive oddball task. The analysis of source strength (i.e., minimum norm current amplitudes) revealed that the syntactic category violations of bare object infinitives led to significantly more robust optical mismatch effects than the other syntactic violation and non-structural, lexical elements. This mismatch response had a peak latency of 186 ms in the left anterior superior temporal gyrus. In combination with our prior MEG report (Kubota et al. in Neurosci Lett 662195-204, 2018), the present optical neuroimaging findings show that syntactic marking (unmarked-to-marked) violations of the bare object infinitive against the rule of the mental grammar enhance the signal strength exactly in the same manner seen with MEG scanning, including the peak latency of mismatch activity and the activated area of the brain.
Imaging of novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been described in adults, but children have milder forms of disease. Pediatric imaging descriptions are of asymptomatic children, raising the question of whether imaging is needed in this patient group.
To describe the utilization and imaging findings in children with COVID-19 along with the comorbidities, treatment and short-term outcomes.
We retrospectively reviewed pediatric patients who had a confirmed positive test for COVID-19 during a 2-month period. We noted symptoms and presence of imaging at presentation. Comorbidities were recorded for children with imaging. Children were categorized as having multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) if they met criteria for the disorder. For children who were admitted to the hospital, we documented length of hospital stay, need for intensive care unit care/ventilator support, and treatment regimen. We evaluated all imaging for acute/chronic abnormalities including chest radiographs for interstitial or alveolar opacities, distribution/symmetry of disease, zonal predominance, and pleural abnormalities.
