Use of 2D IR Bioimaging: Hyperspectral Images of Formalin-Fixed Pancreatic Tissue and also Statement of Slower Necessary protein Destruction.
This case report was prepared to give information about Linognathus setosus (von Olfers, 1816) detected on a 2-year-old male Rottweiler breed dog which was brought to a private veterinary clinic due to restlessness and itching. Lice were found especially on the head, neck and back regions of the dog in the examination for ectoparasites. Four female, 2 male and 9 nymph lice were collected from dog. The collected lice were preserved in eppendorf tubes containing 70% ethanol (C2H5OH) and were sent to the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Selçuk University for species identification. In the laboratory, the lice were left to be transparent in a 10% potassium hydroxide solution and passed through a series of alcohols (70% - 99% ethanol), glued onto the slide with Canadian balsam and examined microscopically. Lice were identified as L. setosus. Although this species has been reported in Turkey, there is no article about its morphological structure, biology and prevalence. Therefore, detailed informations about the morphological features of L. setosus are given to inform veterinarians and scientists working in this field. The aim of this study was to report on bat flies collected from a fruit bat (Rousettus aegyptiacus Geoffroy) which was found on the ground for an unknown reason, and was brought to a private veterinary clinic in Antalya. Bat flies on the bat that were brought to the clinic were sampled during examination of the bat. Fly samples were stored in glass tubes containing 70% alcohol and then refrigerated (+4 °C). Species identification was made by using morphological characters under a stereo microscope. A total of 4 adult female bat flies were collected. The species was identified as Eucampsipoda hyrtlii (Kolenati, 1856). This report substantially expands the known distribution of the species. Bats may be infected with different types of parasitic arthropods, and should be examined for the presence of parasites. The patient was a 83-year- old male who worked as a farmer. He had complaints of weight loss, abdominal pain and joint pains for almost 5 months. Twenty days ago, the patient was checked at another hospital for complaints of occasional coughing and bloody sputum. He was treated with a diagnosis of pneumonia. His respiratory complaints were reduced, but there was no relief of his ongoing abdominal pain. Gastroduodenoscopy and colonoscopy were performed to examine for possible etiologies of continuous abdominal pain. Biopsies were taken from duodenal bulbus and second duodenal segment. Intense eosinophilic leukocyte infiltration and Strongyloides stercoralis larvae were observed in pathologic examination. The patient was successfully treated with albendazole 2x400 mg/day for 7+7 day.Neosporosis is an infectious disease which is caused by a protozoan called Neospora caninum and characterized by endemic and epidemic abortions in adult cattle and congenital encephalomyelitis in calves. Our case was a female calf from the Holstein breed which was born in a farm with abortion and infertility problems and was unable to stand up after birth.. It was stated that it was the third pregnancy of the mother cow and that the previous pregnancy was aborted in the fifth month. In clinical examination, sucking reflex of the calf was present and there was spastic paralysis starting from pelvic muscle in rear limbs. Blood (EDTA and spare tube) sample was taken from the cow and from the calf before sucking first colostrum and cerebrospinal fluid was collected from the calf.. Based on the clinical and serological findings, a diagnosis of congenital neosporosis was made. As a result, neosporosis must be considered in the clinical diagnosis of calves with neurological symptoms during the neonatal period.MicroRNAs (miRNAs), as epigenetic regulators, are small non-coding RNAs regulating gene expression in eukaryotes at the post-transcriptional level to control biological functions. MicroRNAs play a role in development, physiology, infection, immunity and the complex life cycles of parasites. Also, parasite infection can alter host miRNA expression that might result in either parasite clearance or infection. Over the past 20 years, thousands of miRNAs have been identified in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans and other parasites. Thus, miRNA pathways are potential targets for the diagnostic and therapeutic control of parasitic diseases. Here, we review the current status and potential functions of miRNAs related to protozoans, helminths, and arthropods.Toxoplasmosis is a common infection worldwide caused by Toxoplasma gondii, an intracellular parasite. The prevalence of Toxoplasmosis ranges from 17.5% to 69.5% in Turkey. Toxoplasmosis is mostly asymptomatic. It may cause fetal mortality in case of vertical passage. The most common clinical findings in congenital toxoplasmosis are chorioretinitis, hydrocephalus and cerebral calcification. Another group of susceptible patients for Toxoplasma gondii are immunesuppressive patients. Reactivation of a latent infection in the case of immunodeficiency can lead to fatal toxoplasmic encephalitis. Serological diagnostic methods based on the detection of specific antibodies for Toxoplasma gondii are the most commonly used diagnostic methods. However, it may be difficult to interpret the results in pregnant women, neonates, and the patients receiving treatment. It is stated that using more than one method together to improve the reliability of the diagnosis is a more accurate approach. In the prenatal diagnosis of congenital toxoplasmosis, in patients with immunodeficiency, in ocular toxoplasmosis, the polymerase chain reaction is seen as having a higher sensitivity. The aim of this review is to present the general features, diagnostic methods and current approaches in toxoplasma infection, an important public health problem. Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the morphological features of acanthocephalans isolated from Channa punctata (Bloch, 1793). Methods Fishes collected alive from fish farms in Nadia District of West Bengal (India) were dissected for collection of acanthocephalans. Parasites isolated from intestine were fixed in formalin-aceto-alcohol and finally preserved in 70% ethanol for light microscopic studies and in 2.5% glutaraldehyde for scanning electron microscopy. Results The morphological characteristics of adult acanthocephalans were found to be similar to the original descriptions describing the basic characters of proboscis hooks, the spines of the collar and trunk region, and cement gland nuclei. New taxonomic characters were identified for the first time by scanning electron microscopy. Metabolism agonist Conclusion The acanthocephalan Pallisentis (Brevitritospinus) allahabadii Agarwal 1958 was described as an important parasite infecting fishes. The prevalence of the parasite was 23% and its adult stage was observed.
