The multidimensional iterative composition of urban landscapes and the formation mechanism of the aesthetic perception dimension are elucidated. The cognitive schema theory aims to reveal the intrinsic mechanism of urban landscape aesthetic activities. Using London as an empirical case to explore the representation and structure of urban landscape aesthetic, a cognitive schema, the cognitive map of its urban landscape, was constructed based on the qualitative analysis of the texts derived from travel notes. Eight aspects of urban landscapes, together with 21 representative concepts of cognitive schema closely related to aesthetic perception, indicate the structures and approaches people perceive in urban landscapes. This article provides experience and reference for urban landscape enhancement and related practices in China by studying the contemporary Western urban landscape.Transcriptome-based dose-response curves were recently applied to the phytodosimetry of gamma radiation in a dicot plant, Arabidopsis thaliana, as an alternative biological assessment of genotoxicity using DNA damage response (DDR) genes. In the present study, we characterized gamma ray-responsive marker genes for transcriptome-based phytodosimetry in a monocot plant, rice (Oryza sativa L.), and compared different phytodosimetry models between rice and Arabidopsis using gamma-H2AX, comet, and quantitative transcriptomic assays. The transcriptome-based dose-response curves of four marker genes (OsGRG, OsMutS, OsRAD51, and OsRPA1) were reliably fitted to quadratic or exponential decay equations (r2 > 0.99). AZ 960 inhibitor However, the single or integrated dose-response curves of these genes were distinctive from the conventional models obtained by the gamma-H2AX or comet assays. In comparison, rice displayed a higher dose-dependency in the comet signal and OsRAD51 transcription, while the gamma-H2AX induction was more dose-dependent in Arabidopsis. The dose-dependent transcriptions of the selected gamma-ray-inducible marker genes, including OsGRG, OsMutS, OsRAD51, and OsRPA1 in rice and AtGRG, AtPARP1, AtRAD51, and AtRPA1E in Arabidopsis, were maintained similarly at different vegetative stages. These results suggested that the transcriptome-based phytodosimetry model should be further corrected with conventional genotoxicity- or DDR-based models despite the high reliability or dose-dependency of the model. In addition, the relative weighting of each gene in the integrated transcriptome-based dose-response model using multiple genes needs to be considered based on the trend and amplitude of the transcriptional change.Climate change is predicted to increase the risk of biological invasions by increasing the availability of climatically suitable regions for invasive species. Endemic species on oceanic islands are particularly sensitive to the impact of invasive species due to increased competition for shared resources and disease spread. In our study, we used an ensemble of species distribution models (SDM) to predict habitat suitability for invasive bees under current and future climate scenarios in Hawai'i. SDMs projected on the invasive range were better predicted by georeferenced records from the invasive range in comparison to invasive SDMs predicted by records from the native range. SDMs estimated that climatically suitable regions for the eight invasive bees explored in this study will expand by ~934.8% (±3.4% SE). Hotspots for the invasive bees are predicted to expand toward higher elevation regions, although suitable habitat is expected to only progress up to 500 m in elevation in 2070. Given our results, it is unlikely that invasive bees will interact directly with endemic bees found at >500 m in elevation in the future. Management and conservation plans for endemic bees may be improved by understanding how climate change may exacerbate negative interactions between invasive and endemic bee species. The aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of 577-nm subthreshold micropulse laser (SMPL) treatment in a large population of patients affected by mild diabetic macular edema (DME) in a real-life setting. We retrospectively evaluated 134 eyes affected by previously untreated center-involving mild DME, and treated with 577-nm SMPL, using fixed parameters. Retreatment was performed at 3 months, in case of persistent retinal thickening. Optical coherence tomography (OCT), along with short and near-infrared fundus autofluorescence, were used to confirm long-term safety. At the end of at least one year follow-up, a significant improvement in visual acuity was documented, compared to baseline (77.3 ± 4.5 and 79.4 ± 4.4 ETDRS score at baseline and at final follow-up, respectively), as well as a reduction in the mean retinal thickness of the thickest ETDRS macular sector at baseline. A reduction in the central retinal thickness and the mean thickness of the nine ETDRS sectors was also found, without reaching statistical significance. No patients required intravitreal injections. No adverse effects were detected. This study suggests that 577-nm SMPL is a safe and repeatable treatment for mild DME that may be applied to real-life clinical settings using fixed parameters and protocols.Recent studies in Spain have shown that males, younger workers, and people involved in manual jobs had the highest risk of suffering a work-related eye injury (WREI). This study aims to assess the predictors of sick leave associated with WREI and to compare them with risk factors of initial injury. A retrospective and descriptive study of WREI that causes sick leave of one or more days among workers from an insurance labor mutual company in Spain was conducted over a period from 2008 to 2018. The variables of the study were sex, age, occupation, and type of injury. A total of 9352 (18.6% of 50,265 WREI) cases and 113,395 total days of sick leave were observed, with an estimated EUR 4,994,009.59 of associated labor cost. The main predictors of sick leave related to WREI were found to be female (highest incidence; 25.9 (95% CI (24.8-27.1))), >55 years of age (highest incidence; 20.5 (95% CI (19.3-21.7))), not working in the industry (lowest incidence; 13.8 (95% CI (13.3-14.2))), and not suffering "other disorders of conjunctiva" (lowest incidence; 5.
