Anatomic ligament reconstruction using the EndobutBon device has been proven an effective technique for the management of acute acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocation. The aim of this study was to analyze the risk factors causing loss of reduction after AC joint dislocation treated with the EndoButton device for open procedures.

A total of 107 patients who met the inclusion and excluded criteria finally were enrolled. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical tests, imaging data, and postoperative rehabilitation of patients in a stable reduction group and a loss of reduction group.

Among all patients included in the study, the incidence of reduction failure was 14%. Univariate analysis identified that the time between injury to surgery, double or triple EndoButton, coracoid EndoButton position, weight-bearing time of the upper limb, and osteolysis had statistically significant associations with loss of reduction for the AC joint (P=0.022, 0.002, 0.000, 0.000, and 0.000 respectively). By using multivariate logistic regression analysis, we found that coracoid EndoButton position (P=0.002), weight-bearing time of the upper limb (P=0.011), and osteolysis (P=0.036) were the significant independent risk factors related to the loss of reduction after AC joint dislocation treated with the EndoButton device used with open procedures.

MRI is very important for guiding the diagnosis and treatment of brachial plexus diseases. The most used type of MRI brachial plexus imaging is the 3D Short Term Inversion Recovery (STIR) sequence with contrast agent. This study aimed to investigate the effect of three contrast agents; gadobenate dimeglumine (Gd-BOPTA), gadopentetate dimeglumine (Gd-DTPA), and Gadoteric Acid Meglumine (Gd-DOTA) on brachial plexus magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

We recruited 60 patients with suspected brachial plexus injury randomly into three groups. MRI images were obtained from each patient. Prior to scanning, the first group was injected with GD-BOPTA, the second group with Gd-DTPA, and the third with Gd-DOTA. The amount of contrast agent was 0.1 mmol/kg according to the weight of each patient, the injection rate was 1.5 mL/s, and 20 mL saline was injected at the same rate with a high-pressure injector. Immediately after the injection of contrast agent and saline, a 3D Sampling perfection with application optimized cre were no significant differences in the efficacy of three contrast agents in imaging the brachial plexus.

All patients underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) for the first time in the Reproductive Medicine Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University Medical College from March 2018 to December 2018. Creation of a temporary diverting stoma during rectal cancer surgery is used widely to prevent undesirable outcomes related to anastomotic leakage (AL). The transition from temporary stoma (TS) to permanent stoma (PS) is a frequent outcome. Elderly patients may have a greater probability of PS. We aimed to identify risk factors of PS and developed a nomogram to predict the rate of PS for elderly patients.

We enrolled elderly patients (≥70 years) who underwent rectal cancer surgery with a TS between January 2014 and December 2017 at our hospital. We divided patients into two groups a TS group and a PS group. We then identified the risk factors for PS and developed a nomogram to predict the possibility of PS.

Of the 278 elderly patients who received a diverting stoma, 220 (79.14%) eventually underwent stoma reversal, and 58 (20.86%) had PS. The proportion of males in the PS group was significantly higher than that of the TS group (P=0.048). Univariate and multivariate analysis showed that American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) score (P<0.001), laparotomy (P=0.004), AL (P<0.001), and tumor recurrence (P<0.001) were significantly correlated with PS. These four factors were included to construct the nomogram. The consistency index of the nomogram was 0.833 and the model yielded an area under the curve of 0.833.

ASA score (≥3), laparotomy, AL, and tumor recurrence were independent risk factors for PS in elderly patients. Our nomogram exhibited moderate predictive ability.
