The AACD system can rapidly determine the association between GPCRs and their candidate antibodies and shorten the research period for off-target detection and epitope identification. This system should improve the process of GPCR antibody development and provide a new strategy for GPCRs antibody screening. This study aimed to examine the optimal cross-link density of recombinant peptide (RCP) particles, based on human collagen type I, for bone reconstruction in human alveolar cleft. Low- (group 1), medium- (group 2), and high- (group 3) cross-linked RCP particles were prepared by altering the duration of the heat-dependent dehydration reaction. Rat palatine fissures (n = 45), analogous to human congenital bone defects, were examined to evaluate the potential of bone formation by the three different RCP particles. Microcomputed tomography images were obtained to measure bone volume and bone mineral density at 4, 8, 12, and 16 weeks post grafting. Specimens were obtained for histological analysis at 16 weeks after grafting. Additionally, alkaline phosphatase and tartrate acid phosphatase staining were performed to visualize the presence of osteoblasts and osteoclasts. At 16 weeks, bone volume, bone mineral density, and new bone area measurements in group 2 were significantly higher than in any other group. In addition, the number of osteoblasts and osteoclasts on the new bone surface in group 2 was significantly higher than in any other group. Our results demonstrated that medium cross-linking was more suitable for bone formation-and could be useful in human alveolar cleft repairs as well. The objective of this two-year field study was to assess the influence of stand establishment methods (direct seeding or transplanting) on root growth dynamics, shoot morphology, leaf physiology, yield, and quality of globe artichoke (Cynara cardunculus). Three artichoke cultivars were evaluated, 'Green Globe Improved' (GGI), 'Imperial Star' (IS), and 'Romolo' (ROM). Sirtuin activator Plants established with the transplanting method had higher mean root length intensity (La), root length, and root surface area as compared to plants established by direct seeding. The topsoil (0-20 cm) had on average higher La, root length, and root surface area than deeper soil profiles. Transplanted plants had higher plant shoot width and leaf area index (LAI) chlorophyll content index (SPAD) than direct seeded plants at the vegetative stage in 2015. The improvement of root and shoot growth in transplants (compared to direct seeding) also resulted in higher (p less then 0.05) marketable yield (21.1 vs. 19.9 ton ha-1 in 2015 and 18.3 vs. 13.7 ton ha-1 in 2016). Additionally, 46-50% of the total yield occurred during the first 30 days of harvest in the transplanting method compared to 13-38% for direct seeding. No significant differences were found between planting methods or cultivars in leaf-level gas exchange (photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, and transpiration) and cynarin concentration in the marketable heads. Although chlorogenic acid was similar in both establishment methods in 2015, direct seeding had higher concentration in 2016. Comparing cultivars, GGI had higher root length, surface area, root volume, and earlier and higher marketable yield than ROM. However, ROM had higher mean root length intensity (La; total root length per specific area in soil profile) than GGI in both growing seasons. This study showed significant and consistent improvements in root and shoot traits, and yield for transplants as compared to direct seeded plants.Woody plant encroachment (WPE), the expansion of native and non-native trees and shrubs into grasslands, is a less studied factor that leads to declines in grassland ecosystem health. With the increasing application of remote sensing in grassland monitoring and measuring, it is still difficult to detect WPE at its early stages when its spectral signals are not strong enough. Even at late stages, woody species have strong vegetation characteristics that are commonly categorized as healthy ecosystems. We focus on how shrub encroachment can be detected through remote sensing by looking at the biophysical and spectral properties of the WPE grassland ecosystem, investigating the appropriate season and wavelengths that identify shrub cover, testing the spectral separability of different shrub cover groups and by revealing the lowest shrub cover that can be detected by remote sensing. Biophysical results indicate spring as the best season to distinguish shrubs in our study area. The earliest shrub encroachment can be identified most likely only when the cover reaches between 10% and 25%. A correlation between wavelength spectra and shrub cover indicated four regions that are statistically significant, which differ by season. Furthermore, spectral separability of shrubs increases with their cover; however, good separation is only possible for pure shrub pixels. From the five separability metrics used, Transformed divergence and Jeffries-Matusita distance have better interpretations. The spectral regions for pure shrub pixel separation are slightly different from those derived by correlation and can be explained by the influences from land cover mixtures along our study transect. The effect of polydispersity of nickel-silver core-shell nanoparticles (Ni-Ag NPs) on the conductivity of ink coatings was studied. Ni-Ag NPs of various average diameters (100, 220, and 420 nm) were synthesized and utilized for the preparation of conductive inks composed of monodisperse NPs and their polydisperse mixtures. The shell thickness of synthesized Ni-Ag NPs was found to be in the range of 10-20 nm and to provide stability of a core metal to oxidation for at least 6 months. The conductivity of metallic films formed by inks with monodisperse Ni-Ag NPs was compared with those formed by polydisperse inks. In all cases, the optimal conditions for the formation of conductive patterns (weight ratio of monodisperse NPs for polydisperse composition, the concentration of the wetting agent, sintering temperature, and duration) were determined. It was found that metallic films formed by polydisperse ink containing 100, 220, and 420 nm Ni-Ag NPs with a mass ratio of 11.50.5, respectively, are characterized by the lowest resistivity, 10.
